We hear the deep distress and confusion in your heart, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your burdens to the Lord. First, we must address the seriousness of the situation with your marriage. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant before God, and adultery, including bringing another man into your home, is a grievous sin. Jesus said, "Whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery" (Matthew 19:9 WEB). Your wife’s actions are not only breaking your marriage vows but also dishonoring God’s design for marriage.
We must also rebuke the spirit of anger and bitterness that has taken root in your heart. Scripture warns, "For anger rests in the bosom of fools" (Ecclesiastes 7:9 WEB) and "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice" (Ephesians 4:31 WEB). You may not see the need to change, but the Lord does, and His ways are higher than ours. Surrendering your anger to Him is not weakness, it is wisdom and obedience.
Now, regarding your immediate decisions, we pray that the Lord would make your paths straight and give you clarity. The job interview is an opportunity, but your safety and spiritual well-being must come first. If staying in your home puts you in danger, whether from false accusations, temptation to sin, or further betrayal, then the Lord may be leading you to a temporary place of refuge. We are encouraged that you are seeking help from your church family; this is a godly step. "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB).
You mentioned being told that something special is about to happen. While we do not know the specifics, we trust that the Lord has a plan for you, even in this storm. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you," says Yahweh, "thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). But we must caution you: do not seek signs or special revelations outside of God’s Word. The Bible is sufficient for every decision and direction in your life. "Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105 WEB).
We also must address the mention of your wife calling the police. If there is no legitimate threat or harm, false accusations are sinful and can escalate conflict. However, if you are in danger of losing control or acting in anger, removing yourself from the situation is wise. "A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed" (Ecclesiastes 8:1 WEB). Seek godly counsel from your pastor or a trusted elder in your church, they can help mediate and provide biblical guidance.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, lifting his heart and his decisions to You. Lord, You see the pain, the confusion, and the anger he is carrying. We ask that You would break the chains of bitterness and replace them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Father, we pray for his marriage, that You would either restore it according to Your will or give him the strength to walk in obedience if restoration is not possible. Protect him from false accusations and guide him to wise counsel.
Lord, we ask for clarity regarding his living situation. If it is Your will for him to stay with a church member, provide that opportunity. If it is Your will for him to seek temporary shelter, open that door. Above all, keep him close to You, that he would not lean on his own understanding but trust in You with all his heart.
Father, we also pray for his job interview. If this position is Your provision, grant him favor. If not, close the door and open another that is better aligned with Your plan. Work in his heart, Lord, softening it to receive Your correction regarding his attitude and anger. Help him to see himself as You see him and to surrender his emotions to You.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can come to You, the only name by which we are saved. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness, even when we are faithless. We trust You to lead, provide, and protect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
We encourage you to seek the Lord earnestly through prayer and Scripture. Spend time in the Word, especially in the Psalms, where David poured out his heart to God in times of distress. Consider fasting as you seek direction, it is a powerful way to humble yourself before the Lord and hear His voice. "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33 WEB).
Lastly, do not neglect the support of your church family. Isolation can lead to despair, but fellowship with believers brings strength and encouragement. "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:24-25 WEB). You are not alone in this battle, the Lord is with you, and so are we.
