You have asked for something needful, because the right words and the right manner do not come from our own quickness. True wisdom is not clever speech or the ability to win a point. It is a whole way of life marked by meekness, good works, and peace. Ask the Lord to make your words come from that wisdom, not from bitterness or the desire to be proven right. Before you speak, let him search your heart and remove anything that would turn your tongue into an instrument of accusation. The tongue that praises God can also wound a brother made in his likeness, so pray for grace to use yours for healing.

A repaired relationship is a good thing to bring before the throne. Scripture shows that broken brothers can be restored, but not by hidden guile. Joseph's brothers had to face what they had done, and healing required honest ownership and intercession rather than self-protection. Pray that both of you will be willing to hear the voice of God and obey it, even when it means laying down pride. Do not merely ask God to change the other man; ask him to make you both submissive to him, because the vertical relationship with God is the axis on which every human relationship turns. If that is right, what passes between you has far greater hope of being right as well.

Keep asking for wisdom from above. The wisdom of this world would tell you to manage the conversation, control the outcome, or win the argument, but that wisdom comes to nothing. The wisdom from God is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and willing to yield. That is what I am praying you receive. May the Lord grant you sincerity, guard your words, and bring about the complete repair of this relationship according to his will, in the name of Jesus Christ.
