Beloved of All
I am so depressed that i have suicidale thoughts. Please pray for me. My father died 1,5 year ago. My mother is in the hospital - stroke. I cannot imagine my life wkthout my mother. She was my only friend and she gave me support last 10 years and i am single, no real friends. I have some friends in Christ but they have their own families and duties and my mother was always available. I think about my future...i am ###, no kidds, my brother is distant and hold grudges against me. Not saved, has his kidds, his weekend fun parties...i feel panic about my future, fear, anxiety and i dont see any light there. I am on the job that i dont like, work hard and work in another city for 20 years, its harder because its difficult to travel so far with train...i live in a country where alot of people incline to naionalist ideas even fashist and my parents are from a country where they speak the same language but they have other religion...i feel not good, even threatened in this country..not to mention financial situation in a cointry - people are depressed or greedy selfish, arrogant...its very difficult fir me, as i must fight every day with demons of wide spectrum, even in my neighbourhood one of my neighbours is deliberately harrassing me with noise...and i think to myself, what it will be like when i am going to be older?? I have practically noone to help me phisically or protect me...my stomach feels all my fears and i.am on a diet for gastritis and its exhausting to always cook and bring with me ppts... (my whole life i have this problem when the stress arises). Please pray for me since i prayed for receiving a hisband for 20 and more years but nothing. It would be much easier...

We have read your request and our hearts are grieved with you in this deep valley of sorrow, and we are lifting you up together before our Father in Jesus name.

We hear how heavy your burden has become. The loss of your father a year and a half ago, now your mother in the hospital after a stroke, the one who was your only close friend and support for ten years, the loneliness of being single with no children, a brother who is distant and holds grudges, work that is hard and far from home, daily travel by train that exhausts you, health struggles with gastritis and anxiety that settles in your stomach, financial pressure, feeling threatened in your country because of your family background, and even harassment from a neighbour. It is understandable that you feel panic and fear about the future and that you cannot see light ahead. Please know you are not forgotten and you are deeply loved by God.

We want to gently and lovingly speak to the thoughts of suicide you mentioned. Your life is precious to God and He has not finished His purpose for you. Those thoughts of despair are not from the Lord, who is the Giver of life. We urge you not to act on them and to reach out right away to someone near you for help, a pastor, a trusted believer, a counselor or medical professional, and if you feel you might act on these thoughts please seek help immediately and let someone stay with you. The Lord wants you to live and to find hope in Him. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to share how important this is because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find salvation and true peace. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is by calling on the name of Jesus that we are forgiven, adopted as children of God, and given the Holy Spirit to comfort us in every trial.

We are praying for your mother in the hospital, for the Lord to lay His healing hand upon her and give wisdom to her doctors, and for your comfort as you grieve your father and fear losing your mother. When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up. Psalm 27:10. Even when earthly supports feel shaken, the Lord promises Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid nor be scared of them, for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1.

We hear your longing for a husband. You have prayed for more than twenty years and it would be easier to face life with a godly companion, and we understand that ache. We pray with you for a godly marriage as God designed it, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman who both love Christ, entered into with purity and faithfulness. We encourage you to continue to seek a husband who is a believer in Jesus, viewing this season not as being with a partner but as waiting and preparing for courtship that leads to marriage to another Christian believer. The Lord sees your faithfulness and your tears, and His timing is not forgetfulness. While you wait, He can be your daily companion and can use your friends in Christ, even though they have their own families, and bring new fellowship to you so you are not so isolated. We also pray for your brother, that the Lord would soften his heart, remove grudges, and bring reconciliation if it is His will.

For your anxiety, fear, and exhaustion we pray the peace of God over you. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

We bring all of this to the Father together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, lifting up our dear sister who is crushed in spirit and weary in body. Lord, we ask You to rebuke the spirit of despair and fear that torments her, and to surround her with Your presence. Comfort her as she mourns her father and watches over her mother, touch her mother and bring healing according to Your will, and give our sister strength for each day. Provide for her financial needs, protect her where she feels threatened, give her rest from the harassment and the long travel, and heal her body from gastritis. Quiet her anxious stomach and give her sleep and peace. Lead her to faithful fellowship and to a godly husband who loves You, if it is Your will, a marriage that honors You, and help her to wait in purity and hope. Show her that her future is in Your hands and that You have not abandoned her. Let her feel today that she is seen, heard, and deeply loved, and give her courage to reach out for help and to choose life. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, Amen.

We encourage you to keep crying out to Jesus each day, to open His Word and let Him speak to you, to share openly with a mature believer or pastor about these suicidal thoughts so you are not carrying them alone, and to care for your health with wise counsel. The Lord is with you in this hard country, in that difficult workplace, on that long train ride, and in that quiet home. He will not leave you.

Thank you for sharing so honestly with us. We hear how heavy this season is. Grieving your father, now your mother in the hospital after a stroke, carrying a difficult job and long commute, feeling threatened where you live and harassed at home, and wondering about the future while living with stomach pain and exhaustion. It makes sense that fear and panic have grown when the one person who was always available is now the one you are worried for, and when you have prayed so long for a husband and companionship.

We are praying for you and we encourage you not to carry these thoughts alone. If you have one of those friends in Christ or a pastor you trust, please reach out today and let them know you are having suicidal thoughts and need someone to stay with you. Alongside prayer, please also talk with your doctor or another trusted professional soon about both the distress you are feeling and the stomach pain you mentioned, so you can get care and support in person.

Father, we lift them to You in Jesus name. You see every loss, fear and sleepless night. Please bring protection, comfort and daily strength, surround them with caring people, guide doctors and loved ones caring for their mother, and give hope for each next step. Amen.

Your sorrow has come before us and we have heard the heaviness of your heart with much tenderness. To be pressed with thoughts of death, to feel that life has no light, to carry fear and panic in the body until the stomach itself feels it, is a deep affliction. If these thoughts of ending your life press upon you now, I beseech you do not remain alone with them. Turn at once to a faithful pastor, a godly physician, a trusted believer near you, and let them know the depth of your distress. If you are in immediate danger, seek help without delay from those nearest to you or from medical help in your country. The Lord who made you counts your life precious, and He would have you seek the help of those who can walk beside you in this dark valley.

You speak of loneliness, and in this our blessed Saviour knows your path. He was left alone, alone just when most, as Man, He needed human sympathy. His disciples forsook Him and fled, and fear overcame their hearts. Can you for a moment enter into the sorrow of that loneliness. Yet His brave spirit was not cowed, though it stood at bay alone. He understands the portion of His people when they come into deep soul conflict, when faith has to fight for very existence. You are not unseen in this. Though your father has been taken from you, and your mother who was your only earthly stay now lies in hospital after her stroke, though your brother is distant and your friends in Christ have their own families and duties, there is One who has said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. You may be left alone as Jacob was, but the Lord still wrestled with Jacob and blessed him there.

You carry many burdens at once, and anxiety itself unfits you to meet the difficulty. You fear for your mother, you fear for your future as one single and without children, you labour at a job you do not love and travel far by train these twenty years, you feel threatened in your country because your parents came from another people and another religion, you feel the pressure of a hard financial time when many around you seem depressed or greedy and selfish, and even your neighbour harasses you with noise. The body and the mind are bound together, and it is no wonder your stomach suffers and the daily cooking and carrying of food wearies you. It is natural to say, what will it be when I am older, who will help me or protect me.

To this the word of the Lord comes with a command and a promise, Fear not, for I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm Jacob. The Scripture says, Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you. That is not a care you tell only to yourself, where anxiety is confined to your own breast and no good comes of it, but a casting upon the living God. We must labour to get rid, as much as possible, of fear, for fear is weakening and fear dishonours God when it doubts the arm which piled the heavens. The fear of man bringeth a snare, and many feet have been tripped by it. But the fear of the Lord is holy reverence and awe, and when we receive forgiveness of sins through the precious blood of Christ, He puts His fear in our hearts that we shall not depart from Him.

You ask why you should not be afraid. Not because your troubles are small, for they are great, but because the Lord Himself says, Fear not, I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God. He says, Fear not, I have redeemed thee. He says, Fear not, thou shalt not be ashamed. It is Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not. To be afraid in the face of such a promise is disobedience to His tender command. Therefore play the man and let your faith overcome your fear. Look unto Jesus, for in proportion as faith gets stronger, fear of death and fear of life will vanish, and He delivers them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Jacob in his fear said, I fear him, lest he will come and smite me. He is not to be held up as an example to us in that fear, for there was no just cause for it when God had promised to keep him. Your fears for the future, though they feel overwhelming, must be brought to the same promise. Take a review of your life as Jacob did, and then take a review of God's faithfulness. He has kept you these many years. He will keep you still. Do not fear them which can trouble the body, but rather fear Him which after He hath killed hath power to cast into hell, yea, fear Him with holy awe, and then you need fear nothing else.

We will pray for you, and we do pray now.

O Lord our God, who hast promised to help the worm Jacob, look upon this afflicted child of Thine who is cast down and full of fear. Thou knowest the grief for a father taken, the anguish for a mother smitten with stroke and lying in hospital, the loneliness of many years, the long waiting and praying for a husband according to Thy holy ordinance of marriage, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, the distance of a brother, the weariness of daily labour and long travel, the oppression of living where threat is felt, the daily harassment and the weakness of the body. Forgive sin for Christ's sake, and put Thy holy fear and Thy perfect love within, which casteth out tormenting fear. Give strength according to Thy promise, and help to cast all care upon Thee. Provide daily bread, guard and keep, give wisdom to physicians and comfort to the mother, and raise up faithful friends and shepherds to walk near in this trial. Keep this precious life from the hands of the enemy, and lead out of darkness into Thy light, that faith may see Thy goodness even here, and hope may look for Thy deliverance. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, Amen.

Remain in the means of grace. Keep close to the Word, pour out your heart in prayer even when words are few, meet with the people of God as you are able, and let your needs be known to them. Tell your doctor of your gastritis and your anxiety, for the body needs care as well as the soul. And continue to bring your desire for marriage before the Lord, not as a demand, but as a humble request, trusting His wisdom to give what is best, and His grace to sustain you whether that gift comes or whether He calls you to walk a lonely road yet leaning upon His arm. He who helped the worm Jacob will help thee. Fear not.
