Im in trouble for a dark sin

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I have commited a grievious moral injury. I am deeply sorry for the pain I have caused and callous disregard of the innocent victims. I pray for forgiveness. My legal punishment is coming and it is deserved but I am deeply afraid. I pray for mercy, courage and an outcome does not ruin my life

We have read your request and we join you before the Lord with heavy hearts, thanking God that you have not hidden what you have done but have come with a broken spirit and honest confession. What you describe as a dark sin and grievous moral injury with callous disregard for innocent victims is a serious matter before a holy God, and we must speak the truth in love that God sees all sin and He also sees the pain of those victims. He is a God of perfect justice and perfect mercy, and He does not take lightly the harm done to others who bear His image.

The sorrow you express is the beginning of what Scripture calls godly sorrow. 2 Corinthians 7:10 says For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret, but the sorrow of the world produces death. Proverbs 28:13 says He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. Psalm 51:17 says The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. We encourage you to let this sorrow lead to full repentance, which means not only feeling regret but turning away from that sin, agreeing with God that it was evil, and walking in a new direction by His grace.

We also hear you say you pray for forgiveness, yet you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We must gently and urgently tell you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can be forgiven. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This forgiveness was purchased by the blood of Jesus on the cross, where He bore the punishment for sin, and by His resurrection He offers new life to all who believe on Him, repent, and trust Him as Lord and Savior. If you have not yet done so, we urge you to call upon the name of Jesus Christ in faith, confessing Him as Lord, believing God raised Him from the dead, and asking Him to forgive you and to be the Lord of your life. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

We also hear you say that your legal punishment is coming and is deserved but you are deeply afraid, and you pray for mercy and courage and an outcome that does not ruin your life. We understand that fear, and we pray for courage for you, but we must also speak truthfully about mercy and consequences. True mercy does not always mean escape from earthly consequences. Romans 13:1 says Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. To submit to lawful justice is part of honoring God and showing true repentance. Hebrews 12:6 says For whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and he chastises every son whom he receives. God can forgive your sin fully through Christ and still allow the legal and personal consequences to remain so that justice is done, victims are honored, and you are refined. Isaiah 1:18 says Come now, and let us reason together, says Yahweh: Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. That whiteness before God does not guarantee that life will look the same as before, but it does mean God can redeem even a life that feels ruined and use even suffering and punishment for good if you walk with Him.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, on behalf of this soul who has confessed a grievous sin. Lord, You know the depth of this moral injury and the pain caused to innocent victims. We ask first for Your mercy upon those victims, that You would bring healing, justice, comfort and protection to them, for Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Lord, we ask that You would grant this one true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, that he would be cleansed by the blood of Christ and made new. We ask for godly courage and not a spirit of fear, for Joshua 1:9 says Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go. Give him strength to face what is coming, to tell the truth fully, to submit to lawful authority, to make restitution where possible, and to accept discipline with humility. Father, we do not ask that You simply remove consequences, but that Your will be done, that justice would be done, and that Your redeeming grace would sustain him through it so that his life would not be wasted but would henceforth honor You, whether through punishment, restoration, or whatever future You ordain. Create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him, and surround him with wise, biblical counsel, a faithful pastor, and godly accountability so he does not walk this road alone. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you not to face this alone. Seek a mature Bible believing pastor or Christian counselor immediately, be fully honest with your attorney and with the authorities, and do not attempt to minimize or hide what was done. Continue to confess to God through Jesus, to turn from sin daily, to read His Word, and to pray for the victims more than for yourself. God is able to forgive and to rebuild a life on the foundation of Christ even when earthly reputation and comfort are lost. Psalm 103:8 says Yahweh is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. Cling to Christ, submit to His discipline, and trust that His mercy and justice together will accomplish what is right and what will ultimately be for your eternal good.

We hear how heavy this is for you, naming what you did plainly, grieving the pain you caused to others, and at the same time facing what is ahead with real fear. It takes humility to own both the wrong and the fear of its consequences, and we are grateful you brought it honestly before God.

Feeling afraid as you await legal accountability makes sense. Deserved consequences and the need for mercy and courage can exist together. God can meet you in that tension, not by removing what must be faced, but by walking with you through it and shaping what comes next.

If you have not already, we encourage you to not carry the coming days alone. Stay close to a trusted pastor or mature Christian counselor who can hear your confession and help you walk out repentance step by step, and continue to work openly with qualified legal counsel so you face the process with clarity and honesty. Having steady, trustworthy people beside you will matter a lot for wisdom and steadiness.

We are praying for you, and for those who were hurt.

Father, we lift this brother before You in Jesus' name. Thank You for his honest sorrow and desire to turn from what he has done. Grant him Your forgiveness as he confesses, and give him mercy, courage and a clear mind in the days ahead. Help him to act with integrity through the legal process, to make what amends he can, and to find his future in Your hands. Amen.

There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared, and your cry for mercy is not unheard before Him. You have spoken rightly to call your sin grievous, to own the pain caused to innocent victims and the callousness of it, and to confess that the punishment which awaits you is deserved. That honesty is needful, for true repentance gives God glory. It says, Lord, I have no claim upon You, I have no rights but the right to be punished, and it looks out of self to Christ and to Christ only.

Hear then what the Scripture declares for such as you. I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. This is a divine forgiveness, not wrought by the worth of our tears but by His own dear love, because He delighteth in mercy. It is not given for the sake of our repentance and faith, though He gives those graces, but purely for the sake of Jesus Christ who died and rose and now intercedes before the throne of mercy. He came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance, and though you have sinned against light and knowledge, against mercy, against God and His dear Son, yet there is forgiveness. He can save you, be you as black as hell He can save you, and it is no presumption to believe that if you trust His Son you have not gone beyond His mercy.

Yet take heed to the nature of your sorrow. There is a carnal repentance which is caused by fear alone. Every thief repents when he is convicted and sent to jail, and every man trembles when the judge draws near. That fear may produce regret for the consequences, but it is not the repentance which is the work of the Spirit of God. Evangelical repentance is a fruit of the Gospel of forgiveness. When the Son removes guilt, the Spirit removes guile. The forgiven man undergoes a change of nature, he forsakes guile, he cultivates heart searching and practices daily repentance, he abhors himself and cleaves to Christ as the great Savior of unworthy ones. Weigh your repentance in these balances. Do you desire to be delivered not only from punishment but from the power and love of sin itself, and to walk henceforth in the fear of the Lord.

You ask for mercy, courage and that your life may not be ruined. I will not ask God to set aside what is just, nor to bless you by removing the consequences you yourself confess are deserved. Forgiveness with God does not always remove the earthly harvest of sin, but it does give an eternal forgiveness which is perfect and divine, and it enables a man to fear the Lord and to worship Him aright. The good news of pardon inclines the heart to prayer and then to obedience, and it teaches us to submit to lawful judgment while hoping in His mercy.

Therefore pray with your windows open towards Calvary, where Jesus died, where He rose, where He pleads for sinners. As Daniel looked toward Jerusalem and feared not the lions, so look to Christ and ask for undaunted courage to face what is just, to speak truth, to make what restitution you can, and to bear with humility what the law requires. Pray not that justice be evaded, but that mercy in Christ may sustain you, that courage may be given for each day, and that God who permits you still to live would use even this chastening to bring forth a life that fears Him and hates sin.

May the Lord grant you unfeigned repentance and faith in His Son, may He blot out your transgressions for His own sake, may He keep you from superficial sorrow and lead you into that blessed fear which loves and serves Him because there is forgiveness with Him. Return unto Him with all your heart, trust His blood alone, and tread in His footsteps, and He will load you daily with His benefits as you walk humbly before Him.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest confession before God is heard, and the sorrow you express for the pain you have caused and for your disregard for those who are innocent is the right starting point. God does not take lightly the harm done to others, and neither should we. The fear you feel as you face a deserved legal punishment is understandable, and it is right to bring that fear to God.

Hear the good news that Scripture holds out. The Lord taught His own followers to pray, forgive us our debts, showing that even after we have received His grace, the way of repentance remains open. The gift of forgiveness in Jesus Christ is not closed after one washing. What cannot be repeated is that first washing, but repentance itself is not excluded. God is long suffering and of great mercy, and He bears with us to call us to repentance and amendment. He forgives those who come to Him through Jesus Christ alone, confessing sin without excuse and turning from it with a sincere heart.

True repentance, however, is more than feeling sorry or feeling afraid of consequences. It remembers sin honestly, it takes responsibility without shifting blame, it accepts just consequences, and it turns away from the sin itself. It also remembers the victims. If you have not already done so, you should confess your sin fully to God, cooperate fully and truthfully with the lawful authorities, seek godly counsel and pastoral accountability, and where it is possible and wise without causing further harm, seek to make amends to those you have hurt. Do not look for a way to minimize what was done.

You pray for mercy and courage and that your life would not be ruined. Mercy in the Bible does not always mean escape from consequences. God is merciful, but He is also just, and His righteous judgment will be revealed. To treasure up mercy now means to stop treasuring up wrath by continuing without change. We will not ask God to help you avoid what is just or to bless a path that avoids accountability. Instead we pray that God will have mercy on you in the midst of justice, that He will grant you courage to face what is deserved with honesty and humility, and that He will use even this hard season to bring real change.

The apostle Paul showed that bonds themselves can become a place where courage is formed. When he was in chains, others took courage, and he himself found confidence in the Lord. Chains did not disgrace him but became like a crown because he bore them in faith. In the same way, God can give you strength to speak the truth, to endure what comes without fear controlling you, and to walk through the legal process with integrity rather than evasion.

We pray with you now: Father, have mercy on this sinner through the blood of Jesus Christ. Grant true repentance that bears fruit, forgiveness according to Your promise to those who confess and forsake sin, and a clean heart that hates what You hate. Have mercy also on every innocent person who has been harmed, and bring healing where only You can heal. Grant courage to face the law with truthfulness and to accept its rightful judgment. Do not let fear rule, but give strength to do what is right each day. And whatever the outcome in court, build a life that is no longer ruined by hidden sin but rebuilt on obedience, humility, and mercy toward others. Teach a new way of living that shows the reality of repentance over many years to come.

Do not walk through this alone. Place yourself under the care of a faithful pastor and a trusted community who will tell you the truth, hold you accountable, and point you to Christ. Continue in prayer, in honest confession, in the Scriptures, and in full submission to the process before you. God holds out good hope to those who turn to Him with a humble heart, and His mercy is greater than our sin when we come to Him in truth.

Your honest acknowledgment of guilt before God is the right place to begin, and it is where mercy can be found. You cannot hide guilt from yourself and you cannot hide it from God. When that sense of wrong is ever before you, the only relief is to acknowledge it openly to Him and ask for His cleansing. Trying to cover sin never brings peace, but confessing it does.

You have made an important distinction in your prayer. Justice is getting what you deserve, and mercy is not getting what you deserve. You say your legal punishment is deserved, and that recognition is itself part of facing the truth. God is both just and merciful, and those two meet together in Jesus Christ. God must be just, yet He declares He is merciful and will abundantly pardon. The way He can be both is that He placed the guilt of our sin upon His Son, who died to pay the penalty. So when you come to God you do not come on the basis that you are good or that you can make up for what was done. You come on the basis of His mercy, praying as David did in Psalm 51, according to the multitude of His tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. When God forgives through Christ, it is a total and complete forgiveness.

The sorrow you describe can become either a sorrow that leads to death or a sorrow that leads to life. Worldly sorrow is being sorry that you were caught or that consequences have come. Godly sorrow works repentance, and repentance always means a change. It brings a carefulness, a clearing, an indignation against the sin itself, a desire to walk in a new way. That is what God looks for, a heart that turns from the wrong and seeks to walk in His covenant and His truth. His paths are mercy and truth to those who do so.

You also speak of fear, and fear is natural when judgment is ahead. Fear magnifies everything and can drive us to wrong reactions. Fear and faith cannot occupy the heart at the same time. Faith grows as you remember the Lord and His presence with you. The psalmist said, though a host should encamp against me my heart shall not fear, because the Lord is my light and my salvation. Even though you walk through a dark valley, you can know you are not alone. You prayed for courage, and that is a right prayer. God answers that prayer not always by removing the consequences, but by giving His strength to His servant to face what is just and to walk through it with integrity.

Guilt often creates a hidden desire to be punished, and no punishment you receive from people can by itself cleanse the conscience. Only God can. He sees those who hope in His mercy, and His mercy is extended according to that hope. His mercy is so great it will take eternity to understand its depth, and He is plenteous in mercy to all who call upon Him.

So seek the Lord while He may be found. Place your hope fully in Jesus Christ for salvation, confessing your sin to Him without excuse and asking for His forgiveness and for a new life. Accept the just legal process before you as part of taking responsibility, not trying to escape what is deserved, and trust that His goodness and mercy can follow you all the days of your life, even through this hard season. He can keep you, restore you, and use even the consequences for your good as you walk humbly with Him.

I pray that God will have mercy upon you according to His loving kindness, that He will blot out your transgressions through the blood of Christ, wash you and make you clean, give you His strength for each step ahead, take away tormenting fear and give you courage, and lead you in a path of truth and holiness from this day forward.
