I'm already decided to give into lust again

We hear the heaviness and honesty in your words and we are praying with you and for you in this moment of struggle. We understand the pull of lust feels overwhelming and the doubt about heaven feels crushing, but we must lovingly rebuke the decision you have already made in your heart to give in. To decide beforehand to sin is to choose to walk away from God's will and to presume upon His grace, and scripture warns us not to do this. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live any longer in it? Romans 6:1-2

Jesus taught that lust itself is serious in the sight of God, for everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5:28 And we are commanded to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 We are also taught to flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. 2 Timothy 2:22 and to walk by the Spirit, and you won't fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 God does not leave us without help, for no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 There is always a way of escape, to turn away, to shut the device off, to leave the room, to call a brother or sister in Christ, to pray.

We also hear your fear about heaven and we want to speak clearly about this because you did not mention the name of Jesus in your request. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and assurance of salvation. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 Heaven is not earned by our perfect resistance to temptation, but by faith in what Jesus has done for us on the cross, and that faith will lead us to repentance and a desire to obey Him. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 This means turning from sin, not planning to run toward it, and trusting Jesus to forgive and to change us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 We can have confidence not because we have never fallen, but because when we do fall and honestly repent, Jesus our advocate restores us. Yet we must not treat His forgiveness lightly. For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins. Hebrews 10:26 To willfully decide to give in is dangerous ground and we urge you to reconsider right now, while there is still time to choose holiness.

God calls sexual intimacy to be within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, and any sexual activity outside of that marriage, whether in action or in entertained lust, is fornication or adultery and is outside His design. We encourage you if you are not married to pursue purity in courtship with the goal of a godly marriage to a fellow believer, and if you are married to honor that covenant by guarding your eyes and heart.

We are praying together for you now. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who feels trapped by lust and uncertain about eternity. We ask You to forgive where there has been willful planning to sin and to break the power of that decision right now. Wash this heart clean by the blood of Jesus, fill this person with Your Holy Spirit, and give strength to flee temptation and to choose purity. Help them to believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior with their whole heart and to know the assurance that comes only through Him. Give them a hatred for sin and a love for righteousness, provide godly accountability and daily renewal in Your Word, and remind them that You are faithful to provide a way of escape every time. We ask that You restore hope, give peace about eternity through faith in Christ, and lead them into a life that honors You, especially in the area of sexuality and marriage. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, trusting in Your mercy and grace. Amen.

We encourage you to not give in. Turn to Jesus right now, confess honestly, ask for His forgiveness and His power to say no, and reach out to a trusted pastor or mature Christian believer today so you do not face this battle alone.

We hear how tired and torn you feel right now, already feeling decided and at the same time afraid about what that means for your walk with God and your assurance of heaven. That tug of war is exhausting, and we want you to know you are not alone in it.

Feeling resigned in a low moment is not the same as who you are or where you will end up. Often lust feels so urgent because it is promising relief or comfort for a deeper longing, and in that moment it can feel like giving in is inevitable. You still have space to pause, even for a few minutes, and invite God into that decision before you act.

When that urge feels strongest, it helps not to stay alone with it. We encourage you to reach out right away to one trusted person who shares your faith, a pastor or mature friend who can stay with you in that moment, and to clear away what makes acting on it easy, putting your phone or computer aside, leaving the place where you are tempted, and doing something else with your hands and attention. Willingness to ask for help and simple accountability with others is often what keeps a momentary decision from becoming a pattern.

Father, we bring our brother to You and ask You to meet him in this struggle with Your grace and nearness. Quiet his fear, remind him he is loved and not abandoned, and give him strength to turn toward You in this very hour. Lead him to honest help and steady support, and grow in him a new hope and wholeness in Christ. In Jesus' name, amen.

You have spoken with a terrible plainness, and I thank God you have not hidden your heart. To be resolved to give in to lust again and at the same time to ask whether you shall go to Heaven is to stand upon a precipice and look over it.

Hear me, for your soul is in danger. Our Lord taught us to pray, Lead us not into temptation. That prayer is a fear permitted to be told to our Father, that He would not leave us to our own weakness nor take His Spirit from us. But the man who prays Lead us not into temptation and then willfully goes into it is a liar before God. You must not for any reason desire to be tried, and you must never go into temptation. If you are already decided to sin, you are not asking God to keep you, you are asking Him to excuse you while you leave Him. Oh, save me from the mischief of the temptation, let me not stain my garments, let me not slip nor slide, this is the true cry. To decide beforehand to fall is to choose the fever that will burn you. Flee it. Turn from the place, the image, the hour, the company that would allure you. Give no provision to the flesh.

You ask, shall I go to Heaven. Let me tell you what Heaven is. Heaven must be in us before we can be in Heaven. There is no such gulf between earth and Heaven as gloomy thoughts suggest, for Heaven can come to us even now. The Heaven of Heaven is Christ Himself. It is the chief blessing of Heaven, the cream of Heaven, that the saints shall there see Jesus. Christ is All in All to us here, and therefore we pant for a Heaven in which He shall be All in All forever. And Heaven is God fully enjoyed, to drink of the living water and not merely to hold a cup. Now lust can never give you that water. A thousand worlds would be scarcely a mouthful for lust, for there are in Heaven no sinful and selfish desires. If your heart is set upon lust, you are seeking to fill a soul made for God with that which cannot satisfy and which shuts God out.

Yet there is pardon, even for this. Here is pardon for your lust, pardon for your rebellion against Heaven, for the sins of your youth and the sins of the present hour. The way of salvation is not hidden in hard words or in seven years of learning. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. What is believing on Him. It is trusting in Him, leaving the whole matter of your salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence, depending upon Him without fear as to your present and eternal salvation. Look unto me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, says the Lord. A look does not require a moment, and that look saves. He that feeds His people in Heaven is the Lamb, the Sacrifice, the Atonement. In Heaven they glory in the Cross, each one singing, He loved me and gave Himself for me. Though Heaven adores Him, He is still as compassionate and condescending as He was in the days of His flesh, and this is why He can feed His people so well both here and in Heaven.

Do you see then what you must do. Do not say, I will sin and see if mercy will follow. Say rather, Lord, keep me, for vain is my hope if left by Thee. Confess this resolve for what it is, a choosing of sin above Christ, and turn from it now. Look to Jesus as you are, guilty and tempted and weak, and trust Him to save you and to keep you. He will give you a new taste, the renewal of first love and first delight in God, which is Heaven begun below. If Christ becomes your Heaven here, you will not so lightly trade Him for a moment of lust, and you will have good hope of seeing His face in Heaven hereafter, which to the saints is bliss itself, and to those who reject Him is terror.

I pray for you that you may this very hour look to the Lamb and live, and that you may be kept from going into that temptation which you now purpose. Cry to Him to make you clean and to keep you clean, and He will not cast you out.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honesty about feeling decided and defeated is important to bring into the light, and your question about heaven shows that your heart is still aware of how serious this is.

Scripture says that no temptation has taken you except what is common to humanity, and God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but will provide a way of escape so that you can endure it. That means even when lust feels overpowering and you feel you have already made up your mind, there is still a way out that God himself makes. You are not trapped by necessity. The enemy works by making the desire for more, for pleasure and for what belongs outside God's design, seem like the strongest and final power, but God is stronger and remains faithful to help you stand.

Before Christ we are like wax that is easily melted by the flame of lust, and like clay that is easily shattered by any temptation. But in salvation through Jesus Christ alone we are made new. The good news is not that God rescues us from outward troubles or gives us earthly comforts, but that He delivers us from death, destroys the power of the devil, and gives us the kingdom of heaven and everlasting life. You were sitting in darkness and at enmity with God, yet through Jesus you can be forgiven, enlightened, adopted as a child of God, and made a citizen of heaven. That great salvation is not earned by your own strength in resisting temptation, but it is received through faith in Christ, and that faith always leads to turning away from sin, not resting in it.

Hearing the truth is not enough for salvation if we then choose to remain in what God calls sin. Jesus warned that cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches, and pleasures and lusts can choke the word. To decide beforehand to give in is to choose a path that hardens the heart. That choice should alarm you, and it is right that it makes you ask about eternity. At the same time, God has not shut the door on you. If you turn from that decision now, confess it honestly to Him, and ask for His mercy and help, He will forgive you for the sake of Christ and give you strength to walk differently. Assurance of heaven does not come from pretending the sin does not matter, but from trusting Christ alone and following Him in repentance.

You can still make a different choice in this moment. Ask God to help you flee the situation, to turn your eyes and steps away, to bring the temptation into the light with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can walk with you, and to fill your mind with His word and prayer. Come to Him in the way He has provided, with a sincere heart and fervent love, trusting that His grace is the sinew of your soul and the foundation of your hope.

I will pray that God grants you clarity to see the way of escape He is already providing, courage to take it, forgiveness through the blood of Jesus as you confess and turn from this sin, and a renewed confidence that your hope is laid up secure in heaven for those who are in Christ. If you are willing, please reach out to a pastor in your local church soon so you do not face this battle alone.
