I’m a worthless sinner

Please pray that I will truly seek God’s Forgiveness. Heavenly Father, please help me to repent and truly seek Your Forgiveness. Lord, please help me to focus on You and Your Will for my life.

We join with you in this humble and honest cry before the Lord and we thank you for sharing the burden of your heart so openly. We hear your desire to repent and to truly seek God's forgiveness and to focus on Him and His will for your life, and we count it a privilege to pray with you and for you in this.

We want to gently speak to the way you see yourself as worthless. It is true that we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God as Romans 3:23 says, and the wages of sin is death as Romans 6:23 tells us, so your sense of your need for forgiveness is biblical and right. Yet you are not worthless in God's eyes. You are fearfully and wonderfully made as Psalm 139:14 declares, and while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us as Romans 5:8 says. That is the measure of your value to God. He did not die for worthless things, He died because you are deeply loved and made in His image, even though sin has separated us from Him. We rebuke the lie that you have no worth, while we affirm the truth that you, like all of us, need a Savior.

We also noticed that your prayer was addressed to the Heavenly Father and to the Lord, but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We share this in love because there is no other way to come to the Father except through Him. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved as Acts 4:12 says. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ, His death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection, that we have forgiveness and access to God. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness as 1 John 1:9 promises, but that forgiveness is secured through Jesus. To truly seek God's forgiveness is to come to Him through Jesus, confessing our sin, turning away from it, and trusting in Christ alone to save us.

True repentance is more than feeling sorry, it is a turning of the heart and life away from sin and toward God. When He forgives, He completely removes our transgressions from us, as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us in Psalm 103:12. He makes us a new creation in Christ, therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new in 2 Corinthians 5:17. His will for your life is not to live under constant shame, but to walk in hope and purpose, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future in Jeremiah 29:11.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we lift up this precious soul who is seeking You. Lord, we confess together that we have sinned and need Your mercy. We ask that You grant true repentance, a heart that turns fully from sin and turns fully toward You. Forgive all sin through the blood of Jesus shed on the cross, cleanse from all unrighteousness, and help our dear fellow believer to receive Your forgiveness by faith and not live under condemnation. Remove the lie of worthlessness and replace it with the truth of being loved, forgiven, and created for good works in Christ. Help us all to focus on You and Your will, to seek You daily in prayer and in Your Word, to walk in obedience by the power of Your Holy Spirit, and to trust that You have a good and perfect plan. Lead us in the path of holiness and give peace and assurance that we are Yours. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and only Savior we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him through Jesus each day, to confess sin quickly, to read the Scriptures, and to walk in obedience. If you have not yet put your trust fully in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and calling upon His name. God is faithful to forgive and He delights to restore those who come to Him with a humble heart.

Thank you for sharing this honest prayer with us. We hear how heavy you feel calling yourself worthless, and we want you to know you are not alone and you are not forgotten by God.

We are encouraged that even in this struggle your heart is turning toward Him. That desire to repent and to seek His forgiveness and His will is a sign God is already at work in you. You do not have to make yourself worthy first to come to Him. You can come as you are, naming honestly what is on your conscience and asking for His mercy through Jesus. He is patient and near to those who seek Him.

It can help to make that turning a daily practice. This week try setting aside a few quiet minutes each morning to talk plainly with God about what weighs on you, to ask for His forgiveness, and to ask Him to show you one faithful next step for that day. If you have a trusted pastor or mature believer, consider letting them know you are wanting to walk more closely with God so they can pray with you in person and support you.

Father, we lift our friend to You with thankfulness for this humble heart. Help them to turn to You fully and to receive Your forgiveness, and to know they are loved and valued in Christ. Give them grace to keep their eyes on You and wisdom to follow Your will day by day. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

There is great hope in the very cry you have uttered, for it shows that the Spirit of God is already at work within you. To feel yourself a sinner, and to desire to seek forgiveness aright, is itself a token of His goodness leading you toward repentance.

Do not think that your sense of worthlessness puts you far from mercy. Scripture declares, I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Forgiveness is a divine act, not a human bargain. God does not forgive as man forgives, with a reserve or a condition to rake up the past again. For Christ's sake He blots out sin now, at the moment the sinner believes, and He will never require the debt to be paid twice, for Christ has paid it in full. Though you may have been the chief of sinners, there is forgiveness with Him, and that forgiveness is for you if you look to Jesus alone. There is no other name by which you can be saved, and His blood is mighty to save to the uttermost.

Take care that you seek a true repentance, not merely the qualms of conscience that come from dread of judgment. True repentance is the work of the Spirit of God and it gives glory to God. It confesses that God is just in all His dealings, and that He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy, and it bows to His sovereign will. You need not strive in your own strength to make your heart willing, for while the will of man is not ignored, the work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will and to make men willing in the day of God's power, working in them to will and to do of His good pleasure. Faith and repentance are inseparable graces. Any repentance that keeps you from believing in Christ needs itself to be repented of. Look to Christ and repentance will flow, as faith will burst its bonds in holy sorrow and love.

It is the goodness of God that leads you to repentance. All His patience toward you, His daily mercies, His willingness still to hear a sinner pray, are arguments not for delay but for immediate return. Do not merely seek, but strive to enter in while the door of mercy stands open, for faith sees that seeking sinners who believe on Him shall have peace, and His word will not return void.

You ask to be helped to focus on Him and His will for your life. That is a wise and blessed prayer. All things are under His regulation and have an appointed place in His plan. We must pray with resignation after our Saviour's perfect model in the garden, Nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt, and when you have respect to God's will, God will have respect to your will. Continue to pray, for you do not know all His purposes, but you know His revealed will, and you may rest on three firm grounds, God's sovereignty, Christ's sacrifice, and God's immutability.

Let us pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, have mercy upon this repenting soul who confesses sin and longs for Thy forgiveness. For Jesus Christ's sake, blot out all transgressions, remember sins no more, and grant a clean heart through His atoning blood. Work by Thy Holy Spirit to give true repentance and living faith, make the unwilling will willing, and turn this heart fully to Thyself. Help this dear soul to focus upon Thee and to desire Thy will above all else, and to trust that there is forgiveness with Thee. Hear this cry, save and keep, and preserve unto eternal glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest cry for forgiveness is heard, and I join my prayer to yours before God. Do not remain in despair as if there were no hope after sin. Repentance is not excluded, far from it. There is repentance and it has great force. It is able to set free from the burden of sins even one who has fallen into the very depth of wickedness, if he is willing to lay hold on it and use it rightly.

God in His surpassing compassion does more than we ask. When the servant asked only for time, the master was moved with compassion and forgave the entire debt. So it is with the Father toward those who fall down before Him and entreat Him with a sincere heart. He desires to give forgiveness, and He waits for our prayer so that we may come to Him freely and be restored.

The best way is to avoid sin at the first, and the next best is to feel that we have sinned and to thoroughly amend ourselves. Do not be unwilling to know that you have sinned. Tell your offenses in particular before God, not in vague words only, so that you may learn for what you receive forgiveness and become truly grateful to your Benefactor. When you name your sins honestly, you will better know the greatness of His mercy.

Therefore do not call yourself worthless in a way that leads to hopelessness. You are a sinner in need of grace, as we all are, and you are also one for whom Christ was formed and suffered, and in whom Christ can be formed again through repentance. Lift your thoughts to Him, seek to be seen by Him rather than by men, and ask Him to teach you His will.

I pray with you now. Heavenly Father, have mercy on this Your servant who confesses sin and desires to turn to You. Grant true repentance, not only tears but a change of heart that turns away from sin and turns back to You. Wash away sins, forgive the whole debt through Jesus Christ, fill this heart with the Holy Spirit, and help Your servant to focus on You and to walk in Your will. Lead into a life that bears fruit and remains steadfast, and keep from returning to wickedness. In Jesus Christ alone is forgiveness and hope, and to You be glory. Amen.
