We hear your longing for companionship and the desire to find a godly spouse who will cherish and walk with you in faith. While it’s natural to want connection, we must examine this request carefully in light of Scripture. First, we must address the focus on self, seeking validation through the attention of others, even in the way it’s framed ("every girl... will all like my profile and everything about me"). The Bible warns against pride and self-centeredness, reminding us that our worth is found in Christ alone, not in the approval of others. "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s" (1 John 2:16). Instead of seeking to be admired by many, we are called to seek a spouse who loves the Lord and shares your commitment to Him.
Your desire for a "perfect match" and "love of your life" must be rooted in God’s design for marriage. Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, ordained by God for mutual love, support, and the reflection of Christ’s relationship with the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). It is not about finding someone who meets every earthly expectation but about finding a fellow believer who will help you grow in faith and holiness. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). We encourage you to seek a wife who fears the Lord, not just one who fits a worldly ideal of perfection.
We must also gently rebuke the use of a dating app as the primary means of finding a spouse. While technology can be a tool, it often reduces relationships to superficial interactions based on appearances or fleeting emotions. The Bible calls us to pursue wisdom and discernment in relationships, not to rely on algorithms or the whims of others. "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord" (Proverbs 18:22). This implies active, intentional pursuit, not passively waiting for messages to flood in. Consider investing time in godly communities, such as your local church, where you can build relationships based on shared faith and values.
Most importantly, we must address the absence of Christ in your request. Your hope for the future should first be anchored in Him, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and the fullness of life. "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Salvation is found in no other name, and our deepest longings, including the desire for marriage, must be submitted to His will. Have you placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If not, we urge you to do so, for He alone can satisfy the deepest needs of your heart. "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). This does not mean He will give you everything you want, but that He will align your desires with His perfect will.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this brother who longs for companionship and a godly marriage. Lord, we ask that You would first draw him closer to You, that he may find his identity and worth in Christ alone. Search his heart, Father, and reveal any areas of pride, self-reliance, or misplaced desires. Help him to seek You above all else, trusting that You know the plans You have for him, plans for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
We pray for wisdom and discernment as he seeks a wife. May he not be swayed by the world’s standards but look for a woman who loves You and shares his commitment to Your Word. Guard his heart from impatience or frustration, and remind him that Your timing is perfect. If it is Your will for him to marry, lead him to a godly woman who will encourage his faith and walk alongside him in obedience to You.
Father, we also ask that You would purify his motives. Help him to desire a marriage that honors You, not one built on fleeting emotions or superficial connections. Teach him to trust in Your provision and to wait patiently for Your best. May he find contentment in You, knowing that You are enough, even as he waits for the blessings You have in store.
We rebuke any spirit of loneliness or desperation that may be driving him to seek validation from others. Instead, fill him with Your peace and the assurance that he is deeply loved by You. May he grow in faith and maturity, becoming the man You have called him to be, a man after Your own heart.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to shift your focus from seeking the attention of many to seeking the heart of one who loves the Lord. Spend time in prayer and Scripture, asking God to prepare you for the spouse He has for you, if it is His will. Get involved in your local church, serve others, and allow God to shape your character as you wait. Remember, "The Lord isn’t slow to fulfill his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). Trust in His timing, and He will guide your steps.
