We hear the deep longing and pain in your heart, and we come before the throne of grace together, lifting you up in prayer. First, let us address the foundation of our relationship with God, it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said, "Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom" (John 3:3). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is through repentance and faith in Him that we find true healing and restoration.
Your request reveals a heart that is weary from the cycle of broken relationships, and we want to gently but firmly address some areas that need biblical correction. The term "bodycount" you mentioned refers to past sexual relationships, and Scripture is clear that sex outside of marriage is fornication, a sin that grieves the heart of God. "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). We must repent of past sins and ask God to cleanse us, trusting that He is faithful to forgive (1 John 1:9).
The on-and-off nature of your relationship with this man is not God’s design for love. Marriage is a covenant, not a convenience, and it is meant to reflect Christ’s unchanging love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If this man is not committed to honoring God in a lifelong marriage, then he is not the one God has for you. We must surrender our desires to God’s will, even when it is painful. "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). This does not mean God will give you what you want in the moment, but that He will shape your heart to want what He wants for you.
You also mentioned that this man has not kept his word to return to you. Proverbs 25:19 warns, "Confidence in someone unfaithful in time of trouble is like a bad tooth or a lame foot." If he has proven untrustworthy, why would you want to return to him? God’s Word calls us to pursue relationships with those who are faithful, godly, and committed to marriage. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If this man is not a believer or is not living in a way that honors God, then this relationship is not of the Lord.
We must also address the possessiveness in your prayer, your desire to keep him from other women. This is not love; it is control, and it stems from fear, not faith. "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love" (1 John 4:18). True love trusts God’s plan, even when it means letting go.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our sister who is in pain. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of past sin and shame in her life. Cleanse her from all unrighteousness and fill her with Your Holy Spirit. Father, we repent on her behalf for any sexual immorality and ask that You would restore her purity and give her a fresh start. Help her to see herself as You see her, beloved, cherished, and set apart for Your purposes.
Lord, we ask that You would heal her heart from the cycle of broken relationships. Give her the strength to let go of what is not of You, even when it hurts. Father, if this man is not the one You have for her, we ask that You would remove him from her life completely. If he is not willing to commit to marriage in a way that honors You, then close the door permanently. Give her the courage to walk away and trust You with her future.
Father, we pray against the spirit of fear and control that is trying to take root in her heart. Replace it with Your perfect love, which casts out all fear. Help her to surrender every desire, every longing, and every hope to You. Teach her to wait on You and to trust that Your plans for her are good.
Lord, we ask that You would bring godly men into her life, men who love You first and who are committed to marriage as You designed it. Surround her with wise, godly friends who will encourage her in her walk with You. Give her the strength to stand firm in her faith, even when it feels lonely.
Father, we declare that she is not defined by her past or by the men who have failed her. She is defined by You, Your daughter, redeemed by the blood of Jesus. We speak healing over her heart, restoration over her mind, and peace that surpasses all understanding.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and the only name by which we have access to You. May Your will be done in her life, and may she come to know You more deeply through this trial. Amen.
Beloved, we want to encourage you with the truth of God’s Word. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." God has not forgotten you, and He is working even now to bring about His perfect plan for your life. You may not see it yet, but He is making a way where there seems to be no way.
We urge you to seek godly counsel, find a pastor, a mentor, or a trusted Christian friend who can walk with you through this season. Surround yourself with people who will speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Most importantly, spend time in God’s Word and in prayer. Let Him speak to you through Scripture and reveal His heart for you.
If you have not already, we encourage you to fully surrender your life to Jesus Christ. Confess your sins, repent, and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. He is waiting with open arms, ready to forgive and restore. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
This is not the end of your story. God is writing a beautiful testimony through your life, and He will use even this pain for His glory. Trust Him, wait on Him, and let Him lead you into the future He has prepared for you. You are not alone, we are praying for you, and more importantly, God is with you.
