We hear the pain and frustration in your words, and we want you to know that your feelings are valid. It is clear that this man has hurt you deeply through his lies and actions, and it is completely understandable that you would want to distance yourself from him. You have every right to set boundaries and protect your heart, especially when someone has shown disregard for your well-being.
First, we must address the importance of seeking God’s will in all things. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." It is wise to turn to the Lord for guidance and strength as you navigate this situation. You have taken a bold step in blocking him, and we pray that you continue to stand firm in that decision.
We also want to gently remind you of the power of forgiveness, not for his sake, but for yours. Holding onto bitterness and unforgiveness can weigh heavily on your heart. Ephesians 4:31-32 says, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be removed from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Forgiveness does not mean what he did was acceptable; it means you are releasing the burden to God and allowing Him to handle justice.
We must also address the nature of your past relationship with this man. If this was a romantic relationship, it is important to reflect on whether it honored God. The Bible is clear that relationships should be built on truth, respect, and mutual edification. If he lied to you and made you feel less than who God created you to be, that is not the foundation of a godly relationship. Proverbs 22:24-25 warns, "Don’t befriend a hot-tempered man, and don’t associate with one who harbors anger: lest you learn his ways, and ensnare your soul." While this verse speaks to anger, the principle applies to any relationship that brings harm or dishonor to God’s design.
We also want to encourage you to seek godly counsel and community. Surround yourself with believers who can support you, pray for you, and speak truth into your life. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." You do not have to walk through this alone.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister who is hurting. Lord, You see the pain in her heart, and You know the wounds that have been inflicted. We ask that You would heal her heart and restore her sense of worth and identity in You. Help her to stand firm in the boundaries she has set and give her the strength to resist any temptation to reopen doors that should remain closed.
Father, we pray for this man, that You would convict his heart and lead him to repentance. If it is Your will, soften his heart to understand the harm he has caused and turn him toward a life that honors You. But Lord, we also ask that You protect our sister from any further harm or manipulation. Surround her with Your peace and remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image.
We ask that You would fill her with Your Holy Spirit, guiding her steps and giving her wisdom as she moves forward. Help her to release any bitterness or unforgiveness, not because what was done was right, but because You have called us to walk in love and freedom. Lord, we also pray that You would bring godly people into her life to encourage and support her.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who came to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this season. Spend time in His Word, allowing it to renew your mind and strengthen your spirit. You are not defined by this man’s actions or words, you are defined by Christ, who loves you unconditionally and has a purpose for your life. If you have not already, we urge you to surrender your heart fully to Jesus, for He is the only One who can truly heal and restore. If you have not made Him the Lord of your life, we invite you to do so today. Romans 10:9 says, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." There is no greater peace than knowing Him.
