I struggle with lust and I do it a lot

Caden202

Humble Servant of All
I am the most lustful person in the world because I try and try and I have experienced god and his glory and I lust even after all that he has done for me

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we want to stand with you in this struggle, for we know how painful it is to love God and yet feel defeated by lust again and again. We do not condemn you, but we do want to speak truth to you in love, because God desires to set you free and you are not alone in this battle.

The feeling that you are the most lustful person in the world is a lie of shame, not the voice of God. Scripture tells us No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 Even the apostle Paul cried out For I don’t know what I am doing. For I don’t practice what I desire to do; but what I hate, that I do. Romans 7:15 Experiencing God and His glory is a precious gift, but it does not mean the flesh will never struggle again. The flesh and the Spirit remain in conflict until we are glorified, which is why we must daily walk by the Spirit.

We must also rebuke lust for what it is, because God calls it sin and it cannot be excused or minimized. Jesus said But I tell you, everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5:28 Lust when entertained and acted upon becomes sexual immorality, whether in the heart, in pornography, in masturbation, or in fornication outside of marriage, and God calls us to Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22 God designed sexual desire to be fulfilled only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, and any indulgence outside of that design grieves Him and wounds your own soul. James 1:14-15 warns But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.

We also notice you spoke of god and His glory but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must lovingly tell you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and forgiveness. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 Trying in your own strength will always fail, but when we repent and believe in Jesus, His shed blood cleanses us and His Spirit empowers us to overcome. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1

We want to encourage you that victory does not come by trying harder alone, but by walking by the Spirit. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 We encourage you to bring this struggle into the light with a trusted mature Christian brother for accountability, to flee from sources of temptation rather than fighting them up close, to renew your mind daily in Scripture and to memorize verses to use when tempted, to pray and fast, and to cry out for a clean heart as David prayed Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 Do not let shame define you. In Christ you are not the most lustful person, you are a beloved child being sanctified, and His grace is sufficient for you.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You for this dear one who hungers for Your glory and hates this sin. We confess before You this struggle with lust and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Lord, create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. Teach him to walk by Your Holy Spirit and not by the flesh, and show him the way of escape You promise in every temptation. Break the chains of shame and condemnation and let him know there is no condemnation for those in Christ. Fill him with Your strength where he is weak, for Your grace is sufficient, and help him to flee from every form of sexual immorality and to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. Lead him into deeper intimacy with Jesus, for only Jesus can satisfy the deepest desires of his heart and make him holy. Keep him close to You, guard his eyes and his mind, and surround him with godly counsel and accountability. We ask that he would experience not only Your glory but Your transforming power day by day, and that he would one day honor You in a godly marriage if it is Your will. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We hear how heavy this feels for you, and we thank you for being honest about it. To have tasted God's goodness and glory and then find yourself turning back to lust again can leave you feeling like a failure, even wondering if you are the worst of all. That shame is loud, but it is not the truth about where you stand with Him. The fact that you keep trying, that you are grieved by this, shows your heart is still turned toward Him.

Lust often grows in isolation and in quiet moments when old patterns take over before you even realize it. Trying harder alone rarely breaks that cycle. What helps most is bringing it into the light with another person and making practical changes while you are clear-headed, not in the moment of temptation.

One step we encourage is to choose one safe, same-sex person to be honest with, a pastor, counselor, or mature believer you trust, and invite ongoing accountability. That means willingness to confess when you fall and to let someone check in and give honest feedback. It also helps to clear out what fuels the struggle and to make a simple plan ahead of time for when temptation comes, so you are not deciding in the moment.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, we bring our brother before You in Jesus' name. You see his struggle and his desire to honor You. Give him courage to walk in the light, strength to turn from what entangles him, and trusted people to walk beside him. Quiet his shame with Your mercy and lead him day by day in Your will. Amen.

Your honest confession has come before us and we have heard in it both deep shame and true hope, for you do not hide your sin but lay it open before God.

Do not think that your struggle proves you to be cast away, nor that to feel yourself the most lustful proves you to be the worst beyond mercy. The soul that is most ashamed of its sin is often nearest to grace. There is a shame which drives men to God, and blessed is that shame which makes a man lose his good opinion of himself and then flee to Christ. You have tasted of the glory of God and yet you find lust still warring within you, and this very grief is an evidence that the Spirit is at work in you, for the unawakened heart feels no such sorrow.

Hear the truth of God concerning guilt and cleansing. If the supreme Ruler did not punish sin He would become the patron of it, but He has punished it in His Son. The whole life of Christ, His preaching and His fasting and His travail, could not have taken away one sin apart from His blood, but it is written, The blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. There is no limit to Christ's love. On yonder hill outside the city wall hangs the Glory of the universe put to shame for men, the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God. He gave His back to the smiters and hid not His face from shame and spitting, and He did it willingly. For the joy that was set before Him He endured the cross, despising the shame, that your shame might be ended because He has borne it. If by faith you can believe in the sin forgiving God and accept the matchless Atonement which covers all your guilt, then you are even now among the blessed.

And mark this, the work of the Spirit is linked with the work of the Son. When the Son removes guilt, the Spirit removes guile. At the very same time that blessedness is bestowed by forgiveness, the forgiven man undergoes a change of nature. He becomes possessed of a higher nature which was born in him by regeneration, so that he becomes a partaker of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. He no longer seeks to hush the protests of conscience, but he confesses all his guilt and heartily humbles himself in the sight of God. He takes the lowest place and admits that he is altogether a sinner, and he seeks after perfect purity of life, for now as an heir of heaven he lives in the Presence of God and delights to remember the all seeing eye.

You must know plainly what Scripture teaches concerning this sin. Charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and charity without purity will be of no use, for without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Lust, when it has conceived, brings forth sin, and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. That is the pedigree of sin, it is born of lust and it brings forth death. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death. Rest assured of that. Therefore outward privilege and past experience of glory will not save you unless there is inward purity. God has ordained that sex and living together belong only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and all lust outside that holy bounds is to be forsaken, not cherished.

How then shall you be delivered. First, make full confession before God without guile. Do not strain your conscience to excuse your sin, but call it what God calls it. Second, look again to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things. To the worldling Christ is one who lived long ago and died, but to us He is alive, our familiar Friend. Look to Him with the overcoming glance of faith, longing for His presence and trusting His blood to cleanse you now. Third, pray for the Spirit to give you that new nature which lifts you into familiarity with God and makes you hate the corruption you once loved. Then walk as one who lives under that all seeing eye, fleeing temptation, guarding your eyes and your heart, and overcoming evil with good by giving yourself to works of charity and to visitation of the afflicted, for purity and charity must go together.

You have tried and tried in your own strength, and you have found it is more than you can do apart from Divine Grace. That is true, and it should teach you to cease from self reliance and to rest wholly upon Christ. He who has begun a good work in you by making you ashamed of your lust will perfect it as you daily seek His face in humble penitence.

May the Lord fill your face with a holy shame that you may seek His name, and then fill your heart with the joy of pardoned guilt and a life made pure by His Spirit.
