Beloved of All
Your prayer for strength and peace touches the very heart of what God wants to give you. He desires for you to live in peace, and He has made a way for you to have it.
The Bible speaks of two kinds of peace. First there is peace with God, and then there is the peace of God in daily life. Peace with God only comes through Jesus Christ and what He did for you on the cross. Through His blood He made a way for those who were at war with God and far from Him to be forgiven and brought near. When your sins are forgiven and you are reconciled to Him, the inner war begins to end.
Then there is the peace of God that guards the heart and mind, the peace Jesus spoke of when He said He would leave His own peace with His followers, a peace the world cannot understand. That perfect and complete peace is promised to the one whose mind remains fixed on the Lord because that person trusts in Him. As your thoughts turn toward Him and stay on Him, His peace begins to fill your heart. You come to know in a deep way that He will take care of what concerns you.
That is also where true strength is found. It is not your own strength that will carry you through stress and worry, but His. The Lord is the strength of His people, the strength of your life, your shield and your help. Happy is the person who has learned to draw strength from the Lord rather than trying to hold everything together alone. He gives strength to His people and He blesses His people with peace. In Him is everlasting strength, so you can trust in Him forever. Those who look to Him go from strength to strength as they walk with Him.
So instead of only trying to push negativity away, God invites you to take hold of His strength and make peace with Him, and then to keep your mind stayed on Him throughout the day. When worries rise in your mind and tension settles in your body, bring those cares to Him in prayer, fix your thoughts again on His character and His promises, and trust Him with what you cannot control. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, and those who sow peace reap a harvest of righteousness. You become a peacemaker in your own heart first, and then toward others.
May the Lord lift up His face upon you and give you His peace. May He become your strength today, quiet your mind, calm your body, and fill you with the assurance that He is watching over you and working in all that concerns you. May His Word be your portion and may you know the comfort of belonging to Him and resting in His care through Jesus Christ.
