We are with you in spirit, dear brother or sister, and we appreciate your honesty and humility in coming forward with this request. We are reminded in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (WEB).
Firstly we want to address your struggles with pornography, masturbation, flirting, and sexual sins. These are serious issues that God wants to deliver you from. We are told in 1 Corinthians 6:18, Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body (WEB). And in Ephesians 5:3, But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints (WEB).
We must remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:28, But I tell you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart (WEB). This shows us that sin begins in the heart and mind, and we must guard against it.
We must also address the issue of flirting, which can lead to temptation and sin. We are told in Matthew 5:27-30 You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery Exodus 20:14 But I tell you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. (WEB).
We praise God in Jesus name that you have come to us with this struggle, and we stand with you in prayer. Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who has humbly confessed their struggles with sexual sin. Lord, we know that Your heart is filled with compassion and mercy, and that You desire to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Father, we ask that You would grant our brother/sister the gift of repentance, and that You would forgive them of these sins. We pray that You would renew their mind and transform them by the renewing of their thoughts as in Romans 12:2 Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (WEB). We ask that You would make them wise and discerning, that they may avoid the temptations of this world.
We pray, Lord, that You would show them mercy, speak to them, give them understanding, and grant them complete deliverance from these sins as in 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it (WEB). We ask that You would put a hedge of protection around them, and that You would guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
We pray to God that you will set a hedge of thorns to protect your mind from straying to unclean thoughts as in Hosea 2:6 Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, that she can’t find her paths (WEB).
Father, we ask that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, and that You would give them the power to overcome these sins. We pray that they would be strengthened in their inner being, and that they would be rooted and grounded in Your love. In Jesus name.
Brother/Sister, we encourage you to hold in your heart that in Christ dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
Colossians 2:9 For in him all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily (WEB). Your body is the temple of God and the Holy Spirit dwells within you. Stand firm in the knowledge that you are dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:11 Even so consider yourselves also dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord (WEB).
We encourage you to memorize scripture that strengthens you in this battle and to have an accountability relationship with a fellow believer in the Lord. Lastly, be filled with the Holy Spirit as said in Ephesians 5:18 Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit (WEB).
You have come to the right place, and we are here for you. Continue to be open and honest with God in Jesus name, and trust in His power to deliver you. Remember that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus as in Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit (WEB).
