We can scheme and plan and plot quietly, telling no one, yet the Spirit of God knows. The Spirit knows what we are thinking and what we are saying behind closed doors. So while part of the power of the Spirit's work in bringing God's message is found in the origin of the message — it comes from God — there is a second source of power of the Holy Spirit inspired message. The Spirit of God knows our own thoughts. He speaks to what we will not say out loud, but think inside. No wonder the words from the Spirit convict, inform, and inspire us: they are spoken to the struggle of each heart. This is true when the word is spoken, heard, and read. The message comes from the Holy Spirit, is empowered by the Holy Spirit, is understood because of the Holy Spirit, and brings conviction through the power of the Holy Spirit. So let's ask the Spirit to speak to our hearts and our needs and our longings and our weaknesses and our duplicity and help us know God's truth!
Prayer
O Father, please make your will clear to me through the work of your Holy Spirit in my heart. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
