I have to preach in a local church

Your desire to preach the Word of God faithfully is good and worthy of thanksgiving, and I gladly join you in prayer for this ministry entrusted to you.

Let us pray together to our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. May He grant you grace as you prepare, as you write your sermon plan, choose examples and illustrations, and order your thoughts with clarity. May He give you not the wisdom of this world which comes to nothing, but the wisdom of God which is hidden and revealed by the Spirit, so that your faith and the faith of those who hear may stand not in persuasive words of human wisdom but in the power of God.

I pray also that God will open to you a door for the word, and clothe you with true boldness. There is a boldness that is courage before God and men, as when the prophets spoke the truth with gentleness and without anger, and there is a false boldness which is only insolence. May the Lord keep you from wrath and harshness, and give you the courage that speaks the truth in love, with a calm and clear mind, trusting not in yourself but in the Holy Spirit. As it is written, when we are delivered to speak we should not be anxious, for the Spirit will give what to say. May He inspire every word you speak from the pulpit, anoint it with power, and make it effective to accomplish His will.

May the whole work be done so that the Father is glorified and His heart is made glad, and that Christ alone is exalted as Savior. May those who hear be moved not by mere eloquence but by the truth itself, for truth is simple and clear to those who receive it with an honest heart, and even one faithful sermon can bind the conscience and draw souls to Christ.

I will continue to pray that the Lord strengthens you, keeps you humble and diligent in preparation, and then fills you with wisdom, anointing and holy boldness in the hour you stand to preach, so that all that is done will serve His purposes and bring glory to His name through Jesus Christ our Lord.
