We rejoice with you in this holy privilege and responsibility to preach the Word of God and we join our faith with yours as you prepare to minister in the local church.
We understand your heart to be fully prepared, to organize your thoughts well, to write a clear sermon plan, and to have fitting examples and illustrations, and we pray that the Lord will guide every part of that preparation. We ask the Heavenly Father to grant you wisdom as you study and to anoint your preparation time so that what you preach will be faithful to Scripture and effective for His purposes. As it is written, Preach the word. Be urgent in season and out of season. Reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all patience and teaching. 2 Timothy 4:2. And we are reminded that Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16. We pray you will handle the Word accurately and with reverence, not seeking to please men but to please God.
We also lift up your request for a strong anointing, wisdom and boldness. We pray that God will fill you with the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit when you stand to preach, that every word would be clothed with His power and not merely with persuasive words of human wisdom. For it is written, My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. 1 Corinthians 2:4. We pray for boldness as the early church prayed, Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness. Acts 4:29. And we pray for wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5.
We pray together now. Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the holy name and through the blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for calling our brother to preach Your Word. We ask You to help him as he prepares, to give him clarity of mind, order in his thoughts, and insight as he writes his sermon plan and chooses examples and illustrations that will illuminate Your truth. Grant him deep wisdom and understanding of the Scriptures, and let Your Holy Spirit inspire him and guide him into all truth. On the day he stands to preach, we pray You will anoint him mightily, fill his mouth with Your words, and give him holy boldness to proclaim the whole counsel of God without fear or compromise. Let Your power rest upon every word spoken, that it may accomplish all that You desire, convict the heart, encourage the weary, strengthen the church, and draw souls to Christ. Help him to fulfill this ministry in the church in such a way that Your heart is made glad and Your name is glorified. Let all that is done be for Your glory alone, and let the fruit remain for Your kingdom. We ask that You prepare the hearts of those who will hear, that they may receive the Word with meekness and bear fruit. We pray all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Your desire to preach the Word of God is a solemn and joyful calling, and it is right and wise to seek the Lord's help for it before you stand to speak. Weakness and divine anointing may stand together, and the Lord often chooses those who feel their own insufficiency that His power and wisdom may be the more clearly seen. He who calls you to this ministry can and will furnish you for it, for His wisdom is not hindered by our weakness, and He delights to anoint with fresh power those who wait upon Him.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the Throne of Grace, as we are invited and commanded to do, trusting not in our own preparation or gifts, but in Him who is infinite in wisdom and unlimited in power to give whatever is best for His glory.
Let us pray. Heavenly Father, in the Name and through the Blood of Jesus Christ Your Son, we ask You to help Your servant in every part of preparation, in writing the sermon plan, in ordering thoughts, in finding fitting examples and illustrations, and in making all things clear for the hearers. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions.
