I have a sixteen-year-old granddaughter who thinks she is smarter than me. When she was first born, her father, my son, joined the Army and was sent to Korea. When he returned, her mother decided that they had nothing in common. She divorced my son and moved to London in the UK with her two daughters, my granddaughters, when they were 3 and 7 in 1999 and returned to Detroit in 2009.

They moved into their other grandmother's house. My granddaughter came to live in her father's Army housing unit back in September, 2012 while he was deployed to Afghanistan. We had to get to know each other. She told me how her mother's adult relatives did not listen to what she had to say. I listened and tried so hard to listen to her.

We had a problem when she wanted to buy some casual/business shoes for an after-five event and I refused to buy them. She got very loud in the department store and told me how unfair I was. I told her I was not going to buy the shoes. She didn't speak to me for 24 hours. We sort of worked through enough for her to start talking to me. A second incident happened a month before my son returned from his deployment. My son returned from Afghanistan 12/26/2012 and was met by his two daughters. His oldest daughter came for the holidays but didn't know that he would be home before she returned to Detroit in time for her junior year of college.

A week ago my granddaughter got very mad at me because I gave her a book, "The Four Agreements." She decided I did it to put her down. She told me I was rude and offensive. When I tried to tell her why I gave her the book, she got very loud and told me I was interrupting her and she was finished. At one point I said I was finished talking and she said she wasn't and proceeded to get louder. I told her I was and got my keys and purse. I left and got in my car and drove away. I didn't return for almost 2 hours.

I am 69 years old and I am not used to a 16-year-old talking to me like that. I'm asking for prayers for her to learn that older people may know more than her.

I Pray for this grandmother lord that she may receive the honor & respect she deserves from her granddaughter. In Jesus name. Amen

O Lord please bless this family bring closer together that you will send the right words to the ### to help with her situations with her ### give her peace and comfort during times of struggles in Jesus name I pray amen

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.

I PRAY THAT GOD GIVE YOU PEACE AND DIRECTION. STAY IN THE WORD OF GOD TO GET LIFTED.

I learned that God moves in God's time. I accept that. ### has started speaking to me a little. I understand that teens think they are as grown as any adult. They will have to deal with discovering that ### is not as grown as she thinks she is.

Precious Lord Jesus,
You Are The GREAT I AM. I am going to let you INCREASE and I am going to decrease. I am coming to your Throne OF GRACE at this time this prayer request. I pray this prayer in a prayer of FAITH & HUMBLENESS. IN YOUR PRECIOUS, MOST POWERFUL, AND THE SWEETEST NAME I KNOW. IN JESUS NAME. AMEN.

Things got rough this weekend, but God sent an angel in the form of a veteran friend of her father. We are working on our relationship.

Through this exchange this weekend, she believes that her other grandmother doesn't care about her. It hurt my heart to hear her say those words.
