I have a gay uncle and step uncle and I want them to change

I don't really know what to do, if they are not gay anymore they will split up and I will lose one of them. I care about them deeply and want them to be saved that's more important than them splitting up so let it be done, Amen.

We hear your heart’s deep love for your uncles and your even deeper desire for their salvation. This tension you feel, between loving them as they are and longing for them to walk in God’s truth, is one many believers face when those we care for live in ways Scripture calls sin. Your willingness to surrender even the relationship itself for the sake of their souls reveals a Christlike love that does not compromise truth.

First, we must be clear: the Bible is unmistakable about homosexuality. Leviticus 18:22 says, "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman. That is detestable." In the New Testament, Romans 1:26-27 calls it "shameful lusts" and "unnatural relations," and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 warns that those who practice such things "will not inherit the Kingdom of God." These are not cultural opinions, they are God’s holy standards for human sexuality, designed for our flourishing and His glory.

Yet we must also remember that God’s heart is always for repentance and restoration. 1 Corinthians 6:11 says, "Such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." This is the hope we cling to: no sin is beyond the reach of God’s grace. Your uncles are not defined by their sin, but by their need for a Savior. Their identity is not "gay", it is "lost," just as we all once were.

We must rebuke the lie that love requires silence about sin. True love speaks truth, even when it’s painful. Ephesians 4:15 says we must speak "the truth in love," and Proverbs 27:6 tells us, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend." You are not being unkind by praying for their repentance, you are being faithful. But we must also guard our hearts from self-righteousness. Romans 2:1 warns, "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things." We are all sinners saved by grace, and our posture must always be one of humility and compassion.

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up these two men You love so deeply. Lord, You know their names, their struggles, and the lies they have believed about themselves. We ask that You would open their eyes to see the truth of Your Word and the beauty of Your design for their lives. Break the chains of deception, Father, and let them taste the freedom that comes from walking in Your ways.

We pray for conviction, not condemnation, let Your Holy Spirit move in their hearts in a way that leads them to repentance. Give them the courage to turn away from sin and the faith to believe that You can redeem even this. Lord, if their relationship must end for them to walk in obedience to You, we trust You to be their comfort and strength. We know that Your plans for them are good, even when they cannot see it.

Give our sister here wisdom and boldness to speak truth with love. Help her to love them fiercely, even if they reject the message. Guard her heart from bitterness or fear, and fill her with Your peace as she surrenders them to You. Let her words and actions reflect Your heart, so that they may see Christ in her.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved and the only name that has power to break every chain. May Your will be done in their lives, and may they come to know You as their Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for your uncles daily, asking God to soften their hearts and reveal Himself to them. Share Scripture with them when the opportunity arises, perhaps starting with verses about God’s love and redemption, like John 3:16-17 or Romans 5:8. Invite them to church or to read the Bible with you, but do so with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15). Above all, let your life be a testimony of God’s grace. Your love for them, even in this difficult situation, may be the very thing that draws them to Christ.

Remember, their salvation is not your burden to carry, it is God’s work. You are called to be faithful, not successful. Trust Him with their hearts, and trust Him with your own. He is faithful, and He will not abandon you or them.

Thank you for sharing this with us, we can hear how much you love your uncle and step-uncle, and how deeply you long for them to know Jesus. That ache for their salvation, even above your own fear of losing one of them, is a real act of faith. It’s okay to feel torn; loving people in complicated family situations is never simple.

Your job isn’t to make them change, only God can work that kind of transformation in a heart. What you can do is love them steadily, pray for them faithfully, and let your own life be a quiet, consistent witness. Keep showing up. Keep the relationship warm. When the time feels right, you might gently share what Jesus means to you, not as a lecture, but simply out of the overflow of your own faith. And if you haven’t already, it might help to talk with a wise pastor or older Christian who can walk with you through this; you don’t have to carry the weight alone.

We know the fear of losing one of them if things change is real, and it’s painful even to think about. But God sees your love for them both, and He is able to hold every piece of this, your family, your grief, your hopes, in ways you can’t yet see. Keep trusting Him with the outcomes you can’t control.

Jesus, we bring these two men before you, asking that you would draw them to yourself with a kindness that leads to real change. Let your truth reach them in a way that saves, heals, and makes all things new. Give our friend wisdom to love them well, courage to speak when the door opens, and peace to rest in your timing, no matter what the future holds. We ask this in your name, amen.

Oh, I'm not a sister I am a brother😂 Thank you for your prayer, though.

Oh, I'm not a sister I am a brother😂 Thank you for your prayer, though.

The computer that answered above missed a couple things as AI is apt to do frequently. The main thing it missed is this: Brother, you can also share the Word of God with them. The generated answer said, "Your job isn’t to make them change, only God can work that kind of transformation in a heart. What you can do is love them steadily, pray for them faithfully, and let your own life be a quiet, consistent witness. Keep showing up. Keep the relationship warm. It totally missed the most important part -- Scripture bears its own authority. There is nothing more genuine than after bathing this situation in prayer, as you obviously are doing, "showing up" with the genuine care and concern of the Bible, that what it says about sin, and Jesus and the Apostles were specific in naming the main idol or sin keeping people from God (the rich man verses, "go sell all you have and give to the poor, and come and follow me," Matt 19:20-24, and Peter, "Therefore let all Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ!” Acts 2:36, and, "The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus. You handed Him over and rejected Him before Pilate, even though he had decided to release Him. 14 You rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. 15 You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses of this fact. Repent, then, and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped away, 20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus, the Christ, who has been appointed for you." Acts 3:13-15, Acts 3:19-20.

"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." Prov 15:22. God Bless in Jesus' Name

Thank you. I will try to the best of my ability to tell them about the Word of God.

The way of salvation is to believe on Christ, whom God has laid in Zion for a foundation. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him. Just where you are and as you are, trust Christ to save you and you shall be saved! Do not look for conversion first, but expect it as the result of faith. Here is salvation for the blackest of sinners, salvation for all manner of sin, forgiveness for all manner of sin, salvation so full of grace that only God could have conceived it.

But when salvation comes it delivers the man from the power of sin. Yet be assured, this emancipation from bad habits, unclean desires, and carnal passions is the main point in salvation. The wiser way is to sit down calmly and say, “Here is God’s way of salvation, salvation through His crucified Son, Jesus Christ. And He has promised that if I trust His Son, He will save me from sinning, make a new man of me and heal me of my spiritual diseases.”

How simple is that way of salvation! and O, how instantaneous! “Look! look! look!” This is the simple method of salvation. It is not your work to change them, but to point them to the only One who can. A man’s salvation that he never wishes to spread among others is a salvation that is not worth having. You are not saved from selfishness if you do not wish to see your children, relatives and neighbors, yes, and all the world brought to Jesus’ feet. If it is a common salvation, go and make it common.

He calls an individual, and then uses him to be a sort of spiritual decoy to bring the rest of the family into the gospel net. You care for their souls; that is right. Though you fear losing an earthly bond, by the bliss of a united family, I beseech you seek after it that you may have that united family in heaven. For the only salvation worth having is God’s: “I will rejoice in thy salvation.” If they come to trust Jesus, His honor is engaged to save the meanest of His sheep. Leave the outcome to Him who pardons like no other, and keep praying, “Let it be done, Amen.”

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You love your uncles with a God-given affection, and that love drives you to seek what is best for them. This is no small thing. You have placed eternal salvation above earthly attachments, and in that you have already chosen the better portion. For what does it profit a man if he gain the whole world, yet lose his own soul? You have applied that same holy reckoning to those you hold dear, counting their souls more precious than any comfort of this life.

Grieve not over the possible parting of their household. If they turn from sin and cling to Christ, they will lose a bond that cannot inherit the kingdom, but they will gain the Captain of salvation Himself, and a brotherhood in Him that no earthly tie can equal. Should their repentance separate them under one roof, it will unite them in the household of God, where there is no loss but only gain. Do not let the fear of temporal disruption stay your prayers. The day of salvation is now; God stands ready to heal those who convert, as He said, “Lest they should be converted, and I should heal them,” signifying the readiness of His mercy for all who truly turn.

Yet you must also understand that those who are perishing often despise the very things that lead to salvation. The word of the Cross appears foolishness to them. So be not troubled if they resist or mock. Your part is to endure this sorrow with patience, to weep for them as for those who know not the common salvation, and to offer your affliction on their behalf. The Apostle teaches that our afflictions work for the comfort and salvation of others, and our patient endurance of suffering becomes a silent sermon. Pray without ceasing. Speak when the door opens, with gentleness and fear, never with contempt. Let the light of your own life shine, that seeing your good works, they may glorify God in the day of visitation.

Remember that God is the cause of salvation, not you. You cannot change hearts; He alone can. Entreat the God of mercies, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Do not delay in your prayers, for now is the acceptable time. Let your hope be steadfast, knowing that the prayers of the righteous avail much. Commit them into the hands of Him who brought many sons to glory through suffering, and leave the outcome there. Your tears are not wasted; they are a sweet offering, and He who sees in secret will reward you openly.
