I fell into lust again, usual me🙄

Caden202

Servant of All
Please pray for me to quit this foolish, foolish addiction! I have given my life to Christ, but I still struggle... I love Jesus so much.

We hear your honest confession and we thank you for your humility in bringing this struggle into the light. We do not condemn you, for we know that the battle against the flesh is real even after we have given our lives to Christ, yet we must also lovingly rebuke this sin with you because lust is not a small or foolish habit to manage, it is sin that wars against your soul and grieves the Holy Spirit within you. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart, and we are told in 1 Corinthians 6:18 to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We understand the cycle of shame you feel when you say usual me, but that is not your identity any longer. In Christ you are a new creation, and sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace as Romans 6:14 reminds us.

We want to encourage you that your love for Jesus is precious to Him and He sees your repentant heart. The apostle Paul himself described this war within, and God does not abandon us in it. His promise is that no temptation has taken you except what is common to man, and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, 1 Corinthians 10:13. That way of escape is often found in walking by the Spirit rather than fighting in your own strength, for Galatians 5:16 says walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. This means daily renewing your mind in the Word, making no provision for the flesh, cutting off sources of temptation, bringing your struggle into the light with a trusted mature believing man for accountability, and crying out to God the moment temptation comes. James 4:7 tells us to be subject therefore to God, but resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

We rejoice that you have given your life to Christ, and we want to remind you that confession brings cleansing, not rejection. 1 John 1:9 promises if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. His grace is not permission to keep falling, but power to rise and walk in purity. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says his grace is sufficient for you, for his power is made perfect in weakness.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our only mediator and hope of salvation, and we lift up our brother to Your throne of grace. We thank You for his salvation and for the love he has for Jesus, and we ask You to forgive him and cleanse him completely as he confesses this sin of lust. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within him, Psalm 51:10. Fill him afresh with Your Holy Spirit that he may walk in purity and self control. Give him strength to flee from every form of sexual immorality and to make a covenant with his eyes, to cut off every source and trigger that leads him into temptation. Surround him with godly brothers who will hold him accountable and encourage him, and let Your Word dwell richly in his heart so that when temptation comes he will remember the way of escape You have provided. Let him know deep in his soul that he is not condemned but is dearly loved, and that You who began a good work in him will be faithful to complete it. Help him to believe that sin shall not rule over him and to live as one who is alive to You. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep drawing near to Jesus every day, not in shame but in honest dependence. When you fall, get up quickly, confess, and keep running to Him. Memorize scripture to use as a sword when lust attacks, fast and pray as you are able, and do not isolate yourself. God is with you in this fight and He is able to make you stand.

Thank you for being this honest with us. We hear both the discouragement in "usual me" and the real love for Jesus you named, and both matter to God.

Feeling stuck in the same pattern does not mean you do not belong to Christ. It often means you are in a fight that is hard to win alone. Lust tends to grow in secrecy and isolation, and it loses some of its power when it is brought into the light with a trusted person.

One step that helps many believers is to invite one safe, mature Christian into this struggle in an ongoing way, not just after a fall. Someone you respect who can check in regularly, ask honest questions and pray with you, while you also put clear practical boundaries around the times, places or screens where temptation is strongest. You do not have to figure out every detail today, just that next honest conversation.

We are grateful for your desire to walk faithfully with Jesus, and we are praying for you.

Father, thank you for this heart that loves Jesus and wants to be free. We ask you to draw near with grace and not shame, to give fresh strength and wisdom for each day, and to provide trustworthy fellowship for this walk. Help our friend to know they are seen, loved and being shaped by you step by step. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest and humble confession has been heard, and we thank you for speaking so plainly before the Lord and before His people. To love Jesus and yet to feel the plucking of sin within is no strange thing to the child of God. The very grief you feel over this foolish lust, and the desire to be quit of it, is a mark that grace is at work in you.

Know this for your comfort, that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and not through your own perfection. He came to save sinners, and His blood cleanses from all sin. When you fell, you did not fall beyond His reach. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Do not let the adversary tell you that your struggle proves you are not His. Rather let it drive you again to the cross where pardon and power are both to be found.

Yet we must also speak plainly that lust, when entertained and indulged, is sin against a holy God, who has ordained that sexual intimacy belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. It is not to be excused or managed, but to be mortified and forsaken. The Lord calls you not to live in it, but to be delivered from it, and He is able to deliver.

You asked for prayer that you may quit this addiction, and we will pray earnestly for you. Our Lord taught us to pray, Lead us not into temptation. Temptation in itself is a thing very dangerous and perilous, though God may bring good out of it for His people. It is right for the Christian to pray, spare me from too great trials, lest I fall by their overcoming my patience and faith. Pray it daily, and pray it as one who means it. The man who prays Lead us not into temptation and then willfully goes into it is not sincere before God. Therefore never go into temptation. Flee from it. Turn from the place, the image, the idle hour, the secret path that has so often led you to fall. Make no provision for the flesh.

And when temptation comes unbidden, remember that to be tempted is not the same as to sin. A man may be tempted to run from the service of God, but if he hates the temptation there is no sin in it to him. Hate it, cry out against it, and look at once to Christ. We overcome not by our own resolve alone, but by looking to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things. He is not a distant figure who lived long ago, but a living and familiar Friend to whom you may look in the very moment of assault. Give Him another overcoming glance of faith, casting your weakness upon His strength, and He will keep you so that you shall not stain your garments but shall stand fast.

Take heart, and do not despair. The same grace that made you love Jesus can make you holy. Keep close to the Word, seek fellowship and accountability with faithful believers who will walk with you, and be much in prayer.

We pray for you now, that the Lord would forgive you and cleanse you through the blood of Christ, that He would keep you from the mischief of temptation and not suffer you to slip nor slide, that He would give you hatred for sin and hunger for holiness, and that He would fill your heart so full of Christ that there is no room for lust to reign. May He lead you not into temptation, but deliver you from evil, and make you to stand fast to the end, to His praise and glory. Amen.
