We are deeply grieved to hear of the pain and despair that has led you to this place. Your suffering is real, and we want you to know that you are not alone. The weight of whatever you are carrying must feel unbearable, but we urge you to turn to the One who bears all burdens and offers true hope. Death is not the answer, God has a purpose for your life, even when it feels impossible to see.

The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you," says Yahweh, "thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." God does not desire for you to perish but to find life in Him. In Psalm 34:18, we read, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not beyond His reach. He sees your pain, and He longs to heal it.

We must also speak truth with love: suicide is not God’s will for your life. It is a permanent solution to a temporary pain, and it cuts short the work God may still have for you. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Scripture reminds us, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Your life belongs to Him, and He has a plan for it.

If you do not yet know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we plead with you to consider the gift of salvation He offers. Jesus said in John 10:10, "I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly." He is the only way to true peace and eternal life. Romans 10:9 tells us, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." If you have never surrendered your life to Him, we beg you to do so now. Call out to Him in your despair, and He will answer.

We also urge you to seek immediate help from those around you, doctors, counselors, pastors, or trusted friends. You do not have to carry this alone. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Let others walk with you through this darkness.

Right now, we lift you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is in such deep pain. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who heals, and the God who saves. We ask that You would intervene in this moment of crisis. Touch their heart, Lord, and let them feel Your presence like never before. Break the chains of despair and replace them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, we pray for physical healing from the poison and medications they have taken. You are the Great Physician, and nothing is too hard for You. Restore their body and protect them from further harm. We also pray for emotional and spiritual healing, Lord. Pour out Your love into their heart and remind them that they are precious in Your sight.

Jesus, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way. Let them know that You are the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except through You. If they do not know You as Savior, draw them to Yourself now. Give them the strength to cry out to You and the faith to believe that You can save them.

Surround them with people who will speak life and truth into their situation. Provide wise counselors, loving friends, and medical professionals who can help them walk through this valley. Father, we ask that You would give them a renewed sense of purpose and hope. Show them that their life has value and that You are not done with them yet.

We rebuke the spirit of death and despair in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and that the plans of the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy will not prevail. Instead, we proclaim life, healing, and restoration over them.

Lord, we trust You to move mightily in this situation. May Your name be glorified, and may this precious soul come to know You more deeply through this trial. We ask all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

They can only help if they know the full truth of what happened. Let them in. Let them keep watch with you while your body and mind begin to heal.

There is a future you that we believe God still intends to see, and right now, your only job is to stay safe and let others help you hold on. We are praying for that.

Lord Jesus, in this moment when hope feels far away, draw near and make Your presence known. Give the doctors and nurses wisdom to care fully for this person’s body, and grant them the courage to be honest about their pain. Surround them with someone who will simply sit with them tonight, so they are not alone. Protect their life, and in time, restore hope. We ask this in Your name, Jesus.

There is no hope in yourself, but the unwarranted conclusion you have drawn is that there is no hope for you in God. It is self-righteousness in both cases. To despair is an unwarrantable thing, a thing full of sin and fraught with mischief, besides being false and unreasonable. Despair, which is the mind's declaration that there is no hope, is not so much a sickness of the understanding as a sin of the soul. You drank poison to die, yet death is not coming, for God has a purpose that is unchanged. He is carrying out still his one great purpose; none of these things cometh by chance, none happeneth to you out of order, but everything cometh according to the purpose of his own will. His purpose is sure to be effected. He gave you life, and He sustains it still.

How is it that Satan has the impudence to make you despair? Despair? When you have an Omnipotent God to deal with? Despair? When the precious blood of the Son of God is given for sinners? Despair? When the silver bell rings, "Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"? Despair? While life lasts, while Mercy's gate stands wide open? While the heralds of Mercy beckon you to come, even though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as wool! No mortal has a just pretense to perish in despair. If he does so, despair is a form of suicide, a form of willful self-destruction. No man has a right to despair! No man can be right while he is despairing.

Yet even now, turn this Valley of Achor into a door of hope. Your conscious distress, your very failure to end your life, these are not random. They are the door through which Christ comes. It is not the hope itself, but the door of it. Your sighs, your groans, your tears, your silent despair prove you are spiritually alive, though you feel as one dead. While I live, I hope, and while I hope, I live. Sinner, your life lies in hope, and while you have hope, you have life. God is "the God of Hope," and those who are without hope are also without God!

Recall to mind this day: your God has not cast you off, or He would have let you perish. He has stayed your hand. He kept you from the pit. Now hear His gracious invitation: "Turn you to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope." Jesus Christ Himself is that Stronghold. Flee to Him. Cast yourself upon His mercy. He will in no wise cast out. For we are saved by hope, belief, desire, and expectancy fixed on Him. Though you see nothing now but the blackness of your own sin, we hope for what we see not, and with patience wait for it. I declare to you this day, in His name, He will render double comfort to you if you will but look to Him and live.

What agony of soul drives a person to seek their own destruction, to swallow poison in hope of escaping this life. You drank tablets in the hospital, yet death did not come. Do not see this as failure but as mercy. The Lord withholds what you sought, not to torment you, but to grant you space for repentance. The act you attempted is a most grievous sin, a kind of unlawful prayer against the gift of life. But despair is yet another sin added to the first, as if to say that Christ’s sacrifice is not enough for you.

Faith, remember, is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. When hope seems insubstantial, faith gives it solidity in the soul. The Resurrection has not yet come to pass, but faith makes it real within us. So even now, when your own heart sees only darkness, cling to that faith. Christ as a Son over His own house cares for what is His, and the rejoicing of hope belongs to those who hold fast. You are not beyond His reach. The laborers who came at the eleventh hour received the same wage as those who bore the day’s burden. Turn back, then, and do not add to the attempt the further injury of refusing hope.

Your life is not your own to destroy; it belongs to the One who made you. That you survived is a summons to confess your weakness, to seek the Church’s prayers, and to place your trust not in a quick end but in the healing that comes through repentance. Do not let the enemy persuade you that no forgiveness remains. The Lord’s mercy stretches out to the last, but you must reach for it with a living faith, not with the death you sought. Let the time ahead be a time of tears and restoration, and do not repeat this unlawful act. Hold fast to the hope set before you, and do not throw it away.

The fact that death did not come, even after swallowing all those tablets, is not a failure on your part. It is the mercy of God blocking a path you were never meant to walk. Just as the Spirit once prevented Paul from going into Asia because He had other plans, the Lord has stood in the way of your attempt to die. He has stepped between you and the grave because His story for you is not finished.

Despair is a ruthless liar. It locks you in a cell and tells you there is no key, no door, no future. You look at your life and see only half the truth: the pain, the exhaustion, the shame. But you are not seeing what God is doing in the unseen. If you knew the full story He is writing, instead of crying out in hopelessness, you would eventually be standing in awe of His deliverance. Despair always exaggerates the darkness because it leaves God out of the calculation. It is when we take Him into account that the equation changes entirely.

The philosopher may say life is empty, and the flesh can only drive us to the pit. Many have tried to escape the pain through pleasure, through achievement, or through ending it all, only to find that dead end leads to deeper darkness. But the moment of total despair can become a holy moment if it drives you to stop looking at your own ability to fix things. There is a cry that moves heaven: not “How can I deliver myself?” but “Who shall deliver me?” When you have given up on your own strength, you are finally in a place where God can show you His victory without you trying to steal the credit for it.

You can think yourself into the grave, but you can also set your mind on the Lord and find a completely different consciousness. This is not about positive thinking; it is about recalling truth to your mind in the middle of the storm. The lamenting prophet said, “This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope.” The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Your mind has been dwelling on the poison you took, but the Spirit is calling you to remember the faithfulness of the God who blocked that poison from having its final say.

Do not listen to the fear that tells you the situation is beyond repair. Do not do yourself any more harm. The fact that you are still here is the loudest evidence that God has a purpose for you on this side of eternity. Cry out to Him from the depths. He is not far from you. He allows us to sink to the bottom so that we finally stop flailing and let Him lift us up, ensuring that when the victory comes, He alone gets the glory.
