We join with you in this season of waiting and longing, and we hear the ache in your heart after two months of silence from the one you care about and desire to talk with and work things out with. We understand how heavy that silence can feel, and we bring your burden before the Lord together with you, seeking His will and His peace.
We want to gently and lovingly address the way this request is phrased as decreeing and declaring that this person will text or call today. We understand the desire to see God move quickly, but Scripture does not teach us to command or decree outcomes to God as if we can control Him or others. We are called to humbly ask, seek, and submit to His sovereign will. As it is written, You ought to say, If the Lord wills, we will live, and do this or that. James 4:15 and This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. 1 John 5:14. Our prayers are powerful not because we declare what must happen, but because we trust a loving Father who hears us and answers according to what is best. Even when we ask with sincerity, we are reminded You ask and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives. James 4:3. We encourage you to lay down the demand and instead bring your honest desire to God with open hands, trusting His wisdom over our own.
We also want to speak into the relationship itself with biblical care. If this is a romantic relationship, we believe God designed such relationships as courtship with the purpose of discerning marriage between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, a lifelong covenant that honors Him. We do not know the details of your connection, but we encourage you to ask whether this relationship has been pursuing purity, faithfulness, and the goal of godly marriage, or whether it has involved sexual intimacy outside of marriage which Scripture calls fornication and calls us to flee from. We also encourage you to consider whether this person shares your faith, for Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14. Two months of silence may be painful, but it may also be God’s protection or His way of giving you clarity. We encourage you to seek His counsel above all, for Many plans are in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail. Proverbs 19:21 and Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to God. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is in His name that our prayers are heard.
So together we pray for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the longing for restored communication and reconciliation, and You see the hurt of waiting. We ask first for Your will to be done in this situation. If it honors You and is for good, we ask that You would open a door for honest, godly communication and healing, but if this relationship is not Your best, we ask that You would give clarity, closure, and peace that surpasses understanding. Guard this heart from anxiety and help our friend to seek You first. We pray In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Help this one to wait with hope, to pursue purity and holiness, and to trust that You are working all things together for good for those who love You. Lead toward a godly marriage if that is Your plan, or give strength to release what is not of You. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to keep seeking the Lord daily in His Word and prayer, to seek counsel from mature believers, and to find your contentment in Christ while you wait. We pray, But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33. Whether the phone rings today or not, God has not left you and He is near to the brokenhearted, and His plans for you are good.
