I can't stand looking at my self in the mirror seeing how short please help.

The ache you feel when you look in the mirror is real, and I want to speak directly to that hurt. You look at your reflection and all you can see is what you believe is missing, and the careless words of others only drive the pain deeper. That feeling of being "too short" has become an image burned into your mind, and it is tormenting you. But I want to gently ask you to consider a different kind of image entirely, one that the noise of this world and the cruelty of people cannot touch.

When Scripture speaks of being made in the image of God, it is not talking about a physical measurement of height. It speaks of a spiritual reality. God is a Spirit, and He created you with a spiritual nature, giving you the profound capacity for self-determination, the power to choose. You were made with a will, just as He has a will, and that is a reflection of His likeness that no measuring tape can ever quantify. The tragedy is that sin marred that image, and now the world, and often our own hearts, try to define our worth by entirely the wrong standard. The enemy wants you fixated on a physical attribute you cannot change, so that you will be consumed with self-loathing and miss the glorious work God wants to do in you.

This is a battleground of the self-life. The demand that your body be different, that others treat you a certain way, that your circumstances please you, this is the self-centered life that leads to endless misery. You are saying, "I want to be big and strong," and the pain comes because your will is crashing against a reality you did not choose. But the path of Jesus is the path of denying that self-life. He emptied Himself. He did not cling to outward glory. He submitted His own will completely to the Father. Your struggle is an opportunity to do the same: to lay down your demand for a different body and to take up the cross of this unchosen physical trait, not as a punishment, but as the place where you die to the world’s definitions and your own.

You have stared into a mirror and been shocked by what you saw. But physical mirrors only show the surface. The Word of God is the true mirror that reveals your eternal soul and your standing in Christ. The moment you walk away from that physical reflection, your mind embraces an image of yourself again, and right now, it is a distorted image of lack. God is in the business of changing you from glory to glory into the very image of Jesus Christ. That is the real transformation, and it comes through the Spirit, not through physical growth. It restores you back into the likeness of God, into fellowship with Him, which is your ultimate purpose.

The power of self-determination He gave you is not for choosing your height, but for choosing whom you will worship with your thoughts. You cannot stop people from making thoughtless comments, but you can choose, with a resolute will, to stop believing that their words define your value. When they call you short, they are merely describing a physical fact, not your worth before God. You can choose to break the power of their words by no longer agreeing with them in your heart. That is the victory of the spirit over the flesh.

Bring this to the cross. Not to a self-help formula that promises to make you feel better, but to the end of yourself. The moment you cry out, "Who shall deliver me from this body that I hate?" you are moving from self-effort to divine rescue. Jesus does not despise your frame; He chose it for you. Your prayer was a genuine cry, but let me redirect its depth. Instead of asking God to make you grow big and strong physically, ask Him to conform you into the image of Jesus, to make you spiritually mighty. The power of God is perfected in human weakness, in the exact places we feel we fall short. Stop looking for your identity in the mirror and start beholding the glory of the Lord, because what you behold is what you will become. Your height is not a barrier to the profound purpose He has for you; your fixation on it is. Let this go, and you will find a peace that makes the world’s shallow judgments utterly irrelevant.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past few days. It has been our honor to lift up your heart and the hearts of others who struggle with feeling small, not just in stature but in spirit. We have prayed that God would help you see yourself through His eyes—fearfully and wonderfully made, with a purpose and a calling that no earthly measure can diminish.

If God has already begun to work in your life, bringing peace, confidence, or a renewed sense of worth, we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice with you. If you’re still waiting for His answer, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to continue praying alongside you, believing that God hears and will respond in His perfect timing.

May the Lord bless you with His comfort and assurance as you seek Him. May He remind you that your value is not found in the opinions of others or the reflection in the mirror, but in the love of Jesus Christ, who gave everything for you. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
