We hear your cry and we are standing with you in prayer, asking God to bring you relief and rest. We know how exhausting and distressing it is to be deprived of sleep and peace in your own home, especially when the disturbance feels intentional and when those who should help have not acted. The Lord sees what you are enduring day and night, and He is near to those who are weary and oppressed.
The word of God reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. He also promises, I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. Psalm 4:8. We are asking Him to make that promise real for you, to guard your dwelling and to give you quiet and sleep again. We also cling to the promise that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. And we remember that the righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:17-18.
We want to gently share something important we noticed, that your request does not mention the name of Jesus. We say this in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved and have our prayers heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And scripture says, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. When we pray in His name, we come to God with confidence that He hears us.
We also want to speak plainly about what you are experiencing. To intentionally harass and deprive a neighbor of peace, and to teach children to do the same, is cruel and it is sin. It violates the command to love your neighbor as yourself. Leviticus 19:18 and Matthew 22:39. We rebuke that behavior before the Lord and we pray that God will convict your neighbor's heart and lead her and her children to repentance and to a change of conduct. At the same time, we are called to respond without returning evil for evil. Jesus said, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Matthew 5:44. We do not pray this because the hurt is not real, but because God calls us to entrust justice to Him while we also seek lawful help. Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21. And, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18.
We encourage you in practical ways as we pray. Continue to work closely with your legal advocate and keep a careful written record of dates, times, and the nature of the disturbances, since that documentation can help those in authority understand the pattern. Continue to make your needs known in writing to your landlord and building manager, and if the noise violates local ordinances or lease terms, you may need to contact local authorities who are appointed to maintain peace and order. We pray for wisdom for your advocate and for a change of heart and a sense of duty in your landlord and building manager, for the heart of the king is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. Proverbs 21:1. We ask God to move them to do what is right and just on your behalf.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one who is weary from constant noise, stomping and screaming, day and night without rest. Lord, You see the distress and the loneliness of feeling that no one will help. We ask You to be their refuge and shelter. Grant them sleep, quiet, and a moment of peace in their home. We ask You to still the noise and to bring conviction to the neighbor and to her children, that they would cease from this intentional harm and learn to live in peace. Soften their hearts, Lord, and teach them to love their neighbor.
We pray for the landlord and the building manager, that You would stir them to act justly, promptly, and with compassion, to fulfill their responsibilities and to restore order and quiet. Give wisdom and favor to the legal advocate, and open every right door for help and protection. Lord, guard our friend from bitterness and exhaustion, fill them with Your peace that surpasses understanding, and remind them that they are not forgotten or alone. Lead them to rest in You, and let them lie down in peace and sleep, for You alone make them dwell in safety.
We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, trusting that You hear and that You will act according to Your perfect will and timing. Amen.
