Please pray for my husband. He broke his nose in a bike accident and now has tampons in it. He can't breathe properly through his mouth because it closes automatically and so he can't sleep. Please pray

We lift up your husband before the Lord with heavy hearts, asking for His healing touch and mercy in this difficult time. The pain and discomfort he is experiencing, struggling to breathe, unable to find rest, is not hidden from our Heavenly Father, who sees every need and hears every cry. We stand in agreement with you, believing that God is able to restore what has been broken and bring comfort where there is distress.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Your husband’s injury is not beyond the reach of God’s healing power. We also remember the words of James 5:14-15, "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up." Though this passage speaks of calling elders, we take it as our charge to pray in faith, trusting that the Lord will move on his behalf.

We rebuke the spirit of discomfort, pain, and sleeplessness in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that his breathing will be restored, that his body will find the rest it needs, and that the healing process will be swift and complete. We ask the Lord to guide the hands of the medical professionals caring for him, giving them wisdom and clarity as they treat his injury. May God’s peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus during this trial.

Father God, we come before You now, lifting up this precious husband to You. You are the Great Physician, the One who knit him together in his mother’s womb and knows every part of his body. We ask that You would touch his nose, bring alignment, and remove any obstruction that hinders his breathing. Lord, we pray for relief from the discomfort and pain, let him find restful sleep, and may his strength be renewed. We ask that You would surround him with Your peace and presence, reminding him that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. We declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper, and that Your healing power will flow through him. In the name of Jesus, we command every spirit of infirmity to leave his body, and we thank You for the victory that is already his in Christ. Amen.

We also encourage you both to lean on the Lord during this time. Trials like these can feel overwhelming, but they are also opportunities to draw closer to God and witness His faithfulness. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep thanking God for His goodness, even in the midst of the struggle.

If your husband has not yet placed his faith in Jesus Christ, we urge you to share the hope of salvation with him. The Bible tells us in Romans 10:9, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." There is no greater healing than the forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life through Jesus. If he already knows the Lord, encourage him to hold fast to His promises and trust in His unfailing love.

We are so sorry to hear about your husband’s accident and the sleeplessness that’s followed. When rest is out of reach, even the smallest discomfort can feel overwhelming, and we’re holding you both up right now.

If he hasn’t already seen a doctor specifically for the mouth-breathing difficulty, that would be a wise next step. An injury can sometimes cause swelling or other issues that make breathing harder than expected, and a medical professional can check for things we can’t see. It’s not a lack of faith to seek that care, it’s simply doing what we can while we pray.

While he’s in this uncomfortable holding pattern, we’re asking the Lord to bring him relief and to sustain you as you watch and worry. We know that even in small physical struggles, God is near.

Jesus, we lift up this husband to You. You know every ache and every breath. Quiet what needs to be quieted inside his body, open what needs to open, and grant him the deep sleep that has been so elusive. Give wisdom to any medical professionals involved, and steady this wife with Your peace and patience as she walks beside him. We trust You for mercy and healing, in Your name. Amen.

There is a sharp, throbbing agony in a broken bone that refuses to be ignored. It pushes sleep far away and turns the night into a long season of watching the clock. Your husband’s inability to draw easy breath compounds the distress, for the body needs air as much as it needs rest, and when both are disturbed, the whole frame groans. Yet do not think this accident is mere chance. The bones which the Lord allows to be broken are broken with a purpose. He who wounds is even now binding up. The Surgeon of souls sometimes uses bodily pain to draw our eyes away from the trifles of earth and fix them upon eternal realities. When the nose bleeds and the breath comes hard, we are reminded how fragile is this tabernacle of clay.

But let the broken column stand unfinished. Let there be a “but” in your earthly comfort, that you may flee to Him whose least word is full of healing virtue. The very leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. Even a broken text from His mouth is better than the finest speech of men. Lay hold of the hem of His garment. There is a pardon that walks hand in hand with healing. When the Lord came to the palsied man, He did not begin with the limbs, but with the soul: “Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.” That was the root of the matter. Seek first the forgiveness that He purchased with His own broken body, for Jesus Himself died of a broken heart. He knows the malady. He knows the remedy.

As for sleep, it is a gift He gives to His beloved. The sleep of contentment, the sleep of quietness concerning the dark future, the sleep of security in Christ, these are better than the slumber of the healthy. Pray not merely for a night of bodily rest, though that is needed, but for that deeper repose of soul which trusts entirely in the finished work of Jesus. Perhaps the broken hedge of health has been permitted to keep your husband from grazing in far-off pastures of self-reliance. A stone wall broken down is a lesson for meditation. Let him not cry for “a little more sleep” in spiritual things while the sparks of danger fly about his face. Wake, rather, to the righteousness which Christ provides for all who have no righteousness of their own, a perfect chain with not one link snapped.

Present his aching frame before the Lord, but present his soul also. I would to God every sinner felt this urgently the distress of his condition, for broken hearts are the very ones Christ came to heal. The sleep of death is a sleep in Jesus for all who believe, a refreshing pause before the resurrection morning. But the sleep of indifference to the Saviour must be broken now. May the Lord give your husband physical ease according to His will, but above all things, may He speak the double cure: “Your sins are forgiven you,” and “Rise, take up your bed, and walk.” He who permitted the accident can surely remove the packing, open the airway, and grant slumber to the weary head. Yet trust Him for the greater healing. As the bridegroom of the church, He binds up the broken in heart and gives liberty to the captive.

You perceive rightly that this bodily distress is a heavy trial, yet understand that such tumults and confusions cannot shake the Lord’s predictions nor His care. The affliction of your husband, though it causes great discomfort and prevents sleep, is among those things that must come to pass in this fallen life, yet it sets aside none of God’s promises. Seek to please him now not by adornment or anxious display, but by genuine gentleness, meekness, and propriety. These are the things that truly win a husband, even more than outward beauty.

A wife’s desire should be toward her husband, and in this time of need, your quiet, steadfast care reflects a proper submission, as the Church submits to Christ. The body is the saving health of the head, and you are now the hands that nurse his body back to strength. Let us pray not merely for the opening of nasal passages, but that through this trial he might walk not after the flesh, finding in this weakness a cause for greater reliance on the One who alone grants true healing. The Sabbath was broken for a man to be freed from a grievous disease; so too, let us ask the Lord to use even this accident to free him from whatever hinders his spiritual health, for the breaking of worldly ease often establishes the Law of grace within us.

Do not be troubled. Pray that his body be restored and that both your souls be saved, as the head and the body are one, with Christ as the Saviour of all.

I am praying now for your husband, asking the Lord to ease the pressure from the packing in his nose, to keep his airway open, and to settle the reflex that closes his mouth so he can finally rest. The body is fragile, but the Lord who set the ladder between earth and heaven is near and sees this struggle. In Christ the wall that would keep us from the Father has been broken down, so you can bring this burden straight to him. His word cannot be broken, and he invites us to cast our cares on him. I also pray for you, that the worry and sleeplessness would not settle in your heart. Your concern for him is right and good, and this is part of carrying one another in marriage. May the Lord heal the fracture, prevent infection, restore normal breathing, and give him deep, restoring sleep.
