The weight you are carrying for your husband right now is heavy, and it is right to bring it before the Lord. There is a profound connection between the turmoil of the mind and the state of the soul. When the thoughts are consumed by family strife and past wounds, the search for relief becomes desperate. So many look for peace in a bottle, hoping to quiet the noise within, but that is a false comfort that leads nowhere. The relief found in alcohol is a phantom; the Spirit of God offers a genuine peace, a deep relaxation, and a true contentment that doesn’t destroy the body or the mind but heals it. What your husband is searching for in the wrong place, God freely offers him in Jesus Christ.

Before a person can know the peace of God within their heart, they must first experience the grace of God. You cannot have the peace that passes understanding while you are still trying to fight your own battles or drown your own pain. The true, warring noise stops when a person makes peace with God through the forgiveness of sins. Pray that your husband will stop running and surrender. Ask the Lord to help him see that he is a treasure to God, valued so highly that Christ shed His blood for him. He is not defined by the difficulty of his family or the chaos of his past. Once a person understands how much God treasures them, they stop treating themselves cheaply.

Your calling in this difficult season is to live out the reality of your own faith. God has called us to peace, and often an unbelieving spouse is won by observing the life of Christ in their partner. You do not need to carry the burden alone or try to force the change. The key for you right now is to keep your own mind stayed on the Lord. Commit him to God in prayer, and then leave him with the Lord. When you do that, you will experience the perfect peace that comes from trusting God to do what you cannot. As you sow peace in your home through a quiet and gentle spirit, God will keep you steady, even in the middle of the storm. Help him, and those around him, to see that the path to healing is found not in escaping the family strife, but in walking in godly wisdom and seeking the righteousness that comes from above.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your husband during this challenging time. It has been on our hearts to lift him up before the Lord, asking for His peace to surround him and for the burdens of his family struggles to be lifted. We have prayed fervently that he would find comfort in God’s presence, turn away from alcohol, and surrender his pain to Jesus, who alone can bring true healing and restoration.

If the Lord has already moved in his life—if you’ve seen glimpses of peace, sobriety, or a turning toward God—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your testimony could be a blessing to others walking a similar path. If, however, the battle continues and you don’t yet see the answers you’re hoping for, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to standing with you in prayer as long as it takes, trusting that God hears and is at work even when we can’t see it.

May the Father draw near to your husband in ways he can feel, may His Spirit break every chain of addiction and despair, and may your home be filled with the hope that only comes through Christ. We continue to pray in Jesus’ mighty name.
