We must address this request with both truth and love, for the desires expressed here reveal a heart that is not yet aligned with the will of God or the purpose of biblical marriage. The Scriptures warn us clearly against the love of money and the pursuit of worldly wealth as the foundation for relationships. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 6:24, *"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and money."* Similarly, 1 Timothy 6:10 tells us, *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows."*
Marriage is not a transaction where one seeks a spouse based on financial security or material gain. Instead, it is a sacred covenant before God, designed to reflect Christ’s love for His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). A godly marriage is built on love, mutual respect, shared faith, and a commitment to serve the Lord together—not on wealth, luxury, or what one can *get* from the other. Proverbs 31:30 reminds us, *"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised."* The priority for a believer seeking marriage must first be a heart that fears the Lord, not a bank account or lifestyle upgrade.
Moreover, the request implies a desire for men who are willing to "change all that for us" because of poverty. While God cares deeply about our needs (Matthew 6:31-33), He does not call us to seek marriage as a solution to financial lack. Instead, He calls us to trust Him as our Provider (Philippians 4:19) and to seek first His Kingdom. If you are struggling financially, we encourage you to bring that need before the Lord in prayer, asking for His wisdom, provision, and opportunities to work diligently (2 Thessalonians 3:10). Marriage should never be entered into as a means of escape from hardship, but as a lifelong commitment to honor God together.
We also notice that this request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved or through which our prayers are heard (Acts 4:12). If you do not yet know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to repent of your sins and place your faith in Him. Salvation is found in no one else, and it is only through Christ that we can experience true fulfillment, purpose, and the abundant life He promises (John 10:10).
Let us pray for you, that your heart would be transformed by the love of Christ and that your desires would align with His will for your life.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this sister who has shared her heart’s desires with us. Lord, we ask that You would open her eyes to see marriage through Your perspective—a holy covenant designed for Your glory, not for personal gain. Forgive her, Father, if she has allowed worldly values to shape her hopes for the future. Wash her heart clean by the power of Your Word and fill her with a deep love for You above all else.
We pray that You would break any stronghold of materialism or greed in her life. Teach her to trust in You as her Provider, knowing that You see her needs and will supply them according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Help her to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added to her as she walks in obedience (Matthew 6:33).
If she does not yet know You, Lord, we pray that You would draw her to Yourself. Soften her heart to receive the truth of the Gospel—that Jesus Christ died for her sins and rose again so that she might have eternal life. May she surrender her life to Him and find her identity, security, and joy in You alone.
Father, if it is Your will for her to marry, we ask that You would prepare her heart to be a godly wife, one who fears You and seeks to honor her husband as unto You. Bring a man into her life who loves You above all else, who will lead her spiritually, and who shares her commitment to serve You together. Let their marriage be a testimony of Your grace, built on faith, love, and mutual submission to Christ.
We rebuke any spirit of entitlement, selfishness, or worldly ambition that would distort Your design for marriage. Replace it, Lord, with a heart of gratitude, contentment, and a desire to glorify You in all things. May she find her satisfaction in You, knowing that true wealth is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
