Husband mental crisis

The tempest of the soul is a fierce thing, and your husband is tossed by it. You see him refusing the very remedies that would bring calm: sleep, his medicine. And you, watching, are caught in that same gale, struggling to command the winds and waves. But hear this: the Physician who made the whole man well on the Sabbath, the one who was not partially afflicted but wholly undone, stands ready now. Do not judge by the present appearance. Though he seems beyond reach, his healing is not beyond Christ. The publican, eaten up by fever, was set free in a moment. The chief of publicans promised to restore fourfold and gave half his goods, simply because the Healer entered his house. So do not despair. He who fell can arise; the one who sleeps can be awakened. Your frantic striving to force him to do what is needed will exhaust you and profit little. Instead, transfer this burden to heaven.

Examine yourself, too. Is it not often that we do for human opinion what we neglect for God? Anxiety about his state may be a weight born of love, but if it drives you to clutch at control, it becomes a chain. Cast out the desire to manage what only grace can mend. You say you are struggling to get him to act. Lay down that struggle. There is no need of money, no need of crossing oceans, no need of sweat. It is enough to have the will, and all is done. Will to trust. Will to pray with earnestness, not with panic. True poverty is not lack of sleep or medicine, but a soul that desires many things and cannot rest in God. True wealth is to stand in need of nothing but Him.

So lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees. Cry out from a ready mind, and leave the outcome there. Persevere not for a day or forty days, but continually, and do not return to the old anxieties as soon as a calm seems near. God, who searches hearts, knows how to preserve him and you. Let your prayer be a bridle on your tongue from reproaches, a door shut against disorder. In that stillness, even if he is on the road far from you, the hand of God is not shortened. He will hold over you His protecting hand if you supply the needy around you with the alms of your patience and trust. Therefore, forgive his frailty, as you yourself need forgiveness, and know that the way to the forgiveness of your own sins requires no labor, only your will to cast yourself on mercy. Watch and pray, but do not let appearances rule your faith. The whole man can be made healthy.

Your cry for help has been heard. Right now, in the middle of this chaos, the Lord’s ear is open to you. He is not distant, and He is not slow. When you call out, “Jesus help him and me,” you are not shouting into a void. You are speaking directly into the heart of the One who calmed the raging sea with a word and can bring peace to a tormented mind.

There is a deep connection between the health of the soul and the condition of the body. We see in Scripture how attitudes and inner turmoil can alter a person’s physical state. Your husband’s inability to sleep and his resistance to his medicine are not just physical issues; they are clearly tied to the mental and spiritual storm he is enduring. So, let’s pray not just for the physical symptoms, but for the very core of his being. Pray that his soul would prosper, that a supernatural calm would settle his racing thoughts and give him the clarity to do what he needs to do for his safety. God cares about his whole person.

This moment does not mean that God has abandoned him or that his faith has failed. Some of the most faithful people I know have walked through tremendous mental and physical health crises. We cannot fully understand why God allows such deep suffering, as His ways are higher than our ways. Yet your prayer is a powerful act of trust. Hope in God, for you will yet praise Him. Even in this terrifying trial, you are anchored to the One who is the health of your countenance and your God. A day will come when you will look back and see how He sustained you both through this very night.

Do not let the enemy lie to you and say this is the end of the road. Just as we have heard what God did in days of old, know that He is still working out a plan you cannot yet see. Hold onto the promise that the Lord shall preserve him from all evil. I am praying with you for his protection on the road, for sleep to overtake him safely, for a willing spirit to take his medicine, and for a flood of peace to wash over your own heart. You are not alone.

🧎🏻Father, we thank You that You are our Refuge and Strength, an ever present help in time of trouble," Ps 48:1. We confidently approach the throne of grace through Jesus Christ our Sympathetic High Priest to freely receive mercy and grace for help in time of need, Heb 4:15-16. We ask for this storm to calm, and that neither person would be moved, though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea, Ps 48:2. One specific request is that once the situation is stabilized they may receive pastoral counseling from qualified and godly pastors, preferably man and wife, however whatever of your shepherds you choose, You are The Chief Shepherd, 1 Peter 5:2-3. We are those of whom in our mouth are no arguments when it comes to Your choices for us, Ps 38:14.

🙇🏻 Jesus, Shepherd Your Sheep🐑 Micah 5:4, John 10:16, Jn 21:16, 1 Pet 5:2-4, Rev 7:17; ⛓️💥 Remember those in Chains, Hebrews 13:3, Col 4:18 -- Lord Jesus, thank YouYou are The LORD our Shepherd, Ps 23:1-6. You are The Good Shepherd that lay down Your life for us, Your sheep, John 10:11. Thank You that not only do Your Sheep hear Your voice, Jn 10:27, but that You lead them out, and we don't listen to others, John 10:3-4, but only head Your voice and follow You, John 10:27, but that You care for us, Ps 23:3 Isa 40:11, Ezek 34:15, Rev 7:17. Take care of us, defend us, comfort and feed us on wisdom and knowledge, Give Your angels charge over us and our fellow believers in spiritual battles, Ps 91:9-16, Heb 1:14. Strengthen our brothers and sisters, even shepherd the entire flock of God among us, 1 Pet 5:2, help us be on guard for ourselves and the flock of God among us from evil and warped wolves, Acts 20:28-29, by abiding in You and Your teaching, John 15:1-9, studying, obeying and teaching obedience to all Jesus commanded, Matt 28:20. Strengthen us and all in the faith with power and might through the Holy Spirit to know the dimensions of Your love, Eph 3:14-18. Be near those who are in need of deliverance, setting us free by just saying the Word, Matt 8:8, and draw us and all around us to Jesus. Especially draw those weary and heavy laden, that You might give them rest, Your yoke is easy and burden is light, so they find rest for their souls, Matt 11:28-30. Work everything out for the furtherance of the gospel, Phil 1:12.

🧎🏻Grant relief to the one who faced the humiliation recently of the recent situation. We are not ignorant of the devils devices, or his reality, 2 Cor 2:11, so we resist him from this situation, James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:8, Eph 6:10-20. Call and grant boldness give them visits, as Jesus said in Matthew 25:36, "I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me." Be their Shepherd even in those situations, Rom 8:38-39.

🙇🏻 Give grace to us all to purposely draw near to You, so You draw near to us, James 4:8. You are the vine, we are the branches; the one who remains in You, and You in them bears much fruit 🍇 for apart from You we can do nothing, Jn 15:5. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, Phil 4:13. Help us keep You holy in our hearts so as to be ready in season and out of season (at any time in any circumstance) to give an answer for the hope within us, with respect, 2 Tim 2:25, so ungodliness glorifies God that it had a good witness before You returned, 1 Pet 3:15-16. Deliver us from evil people and the evil one, temptation and sin. 2 Thes 3:2-3, Matt 6:13, Luke 11:4, John 17:15. Let love abound more in knowledge and discernment so we can choose the best in every situation that gives us a choice, so we may be sincere and blameless until Your Son's return, being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which comes from union with Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God, Phil 1:9-11. Let us freely receive Your abundant love and freely give it to others, healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons, Matt 10:8. Not unto us, but to Your Name give glory, do whatever You please, but as the Earth You have given to the sons of men, help us rule in part with You even now, Ps 115:1-18. Perfect our love, for as You are, so also are we in this world, 1 John 4:17. Thank You in Jesus' Name.

We want you to know how deeply we have been lifting you and your husband before the Lord these past days. Our hearts have been heavy with yours as we prayed for his mental crisis, for restful sleep to come, for the peace that surpasses understanding to guide him to take his medicine, and for wisdom and strength to fill you as you care for him. We have asked the Holy Spirit to minister to his mind and emotions, to quiet the storm within, and to lead him gently back to the path of healing and wholeness.

If the Lord has answered these prayers in any way—if there has been even a moment of calm, a step toward rest, or a glimmer of hope—we would be so encouraged to hear your praise report. Your testimony could be a blessing and a strength to others walking a similar path. If, however, the battle continues and you still feel the weight of this struggle, please do not hesitate to post this request again. We are here to stand with you, to pray without ceasing, and to trust in God’s faithfulness even when the answers are not yet clear.

May the Lord continue to draw near to you both, to wrap you in His comfort, and to remind you that you are not alone. We pray that His grace would sustain you, His peace would guard your hearts, and His healing power would move mightily in your husband’s life. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
