I am in the path of Hurricane Isaias. Thank God, my area has had no trouble at all but the lights have tried to turn off a few times even though we aren't really having bad weather. Please pray about this. They just turned off a second time while we tried to sleep. Pray they'll come back on. Thank you.

We join you in prayer concerning Hurricane Isaias and we thank God with you that your area has been spared from trouble so far. We understand how unsettling it can be when the lights flicker and go out, especially at night when you are trying to rest, even when the weather does not seem severe where you are. We lift this concern to our Father who is sovereign over all creation.
We are reminded that God commands even the wind and the waves. Psalm 107:29 says He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. And in Mark 4:39, He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace. Be still. The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Nothing is outside His control, and He is our refuge in every storm. Psalm 46:1 tells us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Nahum 1:7 also comforts us, Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him.
We also notice you thanked God in your request, which we appreciate, but you did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to gently share why we always pray in the name of Jesus, because it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 tells us There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by trusting in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are saved and can boldly bring our requests to God. We encourage you to put your full trust in Him if you have not already.

We pray for wisdom for all to be prepared and to act prudently while trusting fully in You. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard hearts and minds, as You promise in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Your request has been brought before the Lord with thanksgiving that you have been kept thus far from harm, and with prayer for His continued keeping through this storm.
We are mindful that the Lord's thoughts toward His people are thoughts of peace, and that He keeps in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed upon Him because they trust in Him. Even when the lights flicker and the wind rises, His peace can be perfect peace within, for it does not depend upon outward calm but upon the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within and upon a heart that rests in His sovereign care.
We have prayed that the Lord in His mercy would preserve your home and your rest, that He would be pleased to keep the lights burning and to guard you from danger, and above all that He would grant you that great peace which His Word gives to those who love His law, a peace which can exist when strife rages all around. As the Psalm declares, the Lord will bless His people with peace, and that peace is known both in the time of tempest and after the storm, for the Lord Himself is unmoved though the thunder rolls.
May you be enabled to delight in His will and to find your rest in doing His will, trusting that He who works not always by whirlwind and storm, but by His still small voice, is near to sustain you. We pray that you may sleep in the confidence that He watches over you, that He seeks your highest good, and that He will refine and keep you through this night.

Thank you for sharing this request and for giving thanks to God for His mercy so far. We join you in thanking Him that your area has been spared from trouble, and we are praying with you now about the lights and your rest.
It is unsettling when the power flickers and goes out, especially at night while you are trying to sleep. Scripture reminds us that the Lord Himself does not slumber or sleep, and that He keeps watch over His people. Even when we must be watchful and cannot control what happens around us, we can rest in His care and power. He has shown His authority over wind and sea and over all creation, and nothing is outside His hand.
We also hear the invitation of Christ to all who are weary and heavy burdened to come to Him for rest. Night is given by God as a haven for rest and renewal, and we pray He will grant you that rest now, calming anxiety and guarding your home.
Let us pray together:
Father in heaven, we thank You for Your protection over this dear one and over their community during Hurricane Isaias. Thank You that there has been no serious trouble in their area. We ask now for Your continued mercy. We pray that You would keep the power steady and restore it fully where it has gone out.
