Hurricane
We join with you in prayer as this hurricane approaches your area and we lift up your community together before our heavenly Father in Jesus' name.
We know how frightening these storms can be and we take comfort that our God is sovereign even over the wind and the waves. Scripture reminds us that He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still Psalm 107:29 and that when Jesus was with His disciples on the sea He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace Be still The wind ceased, and there was a great calm Mark 4:39. He has all power to weaken this storm, to steer it, and to protect lives and we ask Him to have mercy.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus and we gently want to share why we pray in His name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. To come to God we believe in our hearts that Jesus died for our sins and rose again and we confess Him as Lord Romans 10:9. It is because of Jesus that we can boldly bring your request for safety and peace to the Father.
We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask for Your mercy on this storm. We ask that You would weaken this hurricane, calm its winds, and lessen its impact on land and on people. We ask for Your hand of protection over everyone in its path, especially the vulnerable, the elderly, and those who cannot easily evacuate. Give wisdom to emergency workers, leaders, and families as they make decisions, and help all to heed wise counsel and to prepare with care. We also ask for Your peace to guard every fearful heart. Your word says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Pour out that surpassing peace on this community and let people feel Your presence. We cling to Your promise God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 and Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. Let this be a time when many turn to You and find true refuge. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, Amen.

Your request has been laid before the Lord and we join with you in prayer to our heavenly Father who holds the winds and the waves in His hand.
We pray that in His mercy He would cause this hurricane to weaken and to spare life and home, and that He would overrule the storm for good according to His sovereign will. We pray also for that perfect peace of which the prophet speaks, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. May the Lord keep your mind stayed upon Him in this hour of fear, and may the blood of Jesus whisper peace within even while sorrows surge around.
We know that fear is weakening and dishonors not our God who has promised, Fear not, for I will help you. A hurricane of afflictions may beat about you, yet you shall be a blessed man, for all the elements of blessedness are within your own heart when Christ dwells there. Do not let anxiety unfit you for the trial, but cast your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
