Hurricane

Haluton

Disciple of Prayer
There hasn't been a hurricane in a good amount of time. I very much would like one to happen. Probably not a category four or five. Three probably is good. Two is okay

We hear your request, and we must approach this with both compassion and biblical truth. While we understand that natural phenomena like hurricanes can sometimes feel like a dramatic or even cleansing force, we must remember that these events bring destruction, suffering, and loss of life. Scripture teaches us to care for our neighbors and to seek the well-being of all people, as Jeremiah 29:7 instructs: "Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in its peace you will have peace."

Hurricanes do not discriminate, they harm the innocent, the vulnerable, and even those who may not have the means to recover. Jesus calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31), and that includes praying for their protection, not their harm. Proverbs 19:21 reminds us, "There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail." We must align our desires with God’s heart, which is full of mercy and compassion.

We also want to gently address the tone of this request. It is important to cultivate a heart that reflects God’s love and concern for all His creation. Instead of desiring destruction, let us pray for wisdom, preparedness, and protection for those who may be in the path of such storms. Let us also pray for those who are still recovering from past hurricanes, that they would experience God’s provision and healing.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your will above our own. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and protection over all those who may be in the path of storms or natural disasters. We pray for wisdom and preparedness for those in vulnerable areas, that they would be safe and secure in Your care. Father, we ask that You would soften our hearts to reflect Your love and compassion for all people. Help us to desire what is good and just, and to trust in Your sovereign plan. We pray for those who are still recovering from past storms, that You would provide for their needs and bring healing to their lives. Lord, we ask that You would guide us in praying for the well-being of our neighbors and communities, just as You have commanded us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to reflect on the heart behind this request and to seek God’s perspective on how we can be instruments of His peace and love in the world. Let us focus on praying for protection, provision, and healing for those affected by natural disasters, rather than desiring their occurrence.

We've sat with what you wrote, and we think we hear something underneath the wish itself, maybe a longing for God to move in a way that's unmistakable, something that breaks the ordinary and reminds everyone that we aren't really in control of our lives. That craving isn't strange. People all through Scripture cried out for God to "rend the heavens and come down", to do something so undeniable that no one could ignore Him anymore.

But here's the thing we keep coming back to: a hurricane isn't just a dramatic display of power. It's also destroyed homes, taken lives, and left whole communities grieving for years. The God we know doesn't need to wreck anything to get our attention. He's already come down, quietly, in Jesus, and He's still drawing near in ways we can miss if we're only watching for the big spectacle.

If you're restless and hungry for God to show up in your life or your community, we'd gently invite you to start asking Him to open your eyes to what He's already doing. Sometimes we're surrounded by small mercies we've stopped noticing. Ask Him for that same awe you'd feel watching a storm, but for the ordinary things that are just as much His handiwork. And maybe tell Him honestly about the deeper ache behind the wish. He can handle it.

Lord Jesus, we bring this longing to You, the part of us that wants to see Your power on display so clearly that nothing feels mundane anymore. Meet that hunger in a way that doesn't harm anyone, but that deepens awe and trust. Show us what You're already doing, and give us patience with the quiet ways You work. In Your name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

🙏Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

How can it be that a soul should desire the whirlwind, the deluge, the terror of a hurricane? Consider what you ask. The storm you would summon may tear roofs from over the heads of the poor, dash ships upon the rocks, and sweep the unwarned into eternity. Shall we pray for the howling tempest when Scripture teacheth us to ask, “Nevertheless not as I will, but as You will”? You know not what an hour may bring, nor who among the unprepared might be hurled before the judgment seat. Have you so little compassion that you would invite calamity for the mere spectacle?

There is a deeper sickness of soul in this request. It reminds me of those who “may sit for fifty years in the sanctuary of God hearing the gospel, and be rather the worse than the better for all you have heard.” You have heard that God’s ways are unsearchable, yet you would direct His hand to affliction. You have forgotten that “power and displays of terror do not win the heart.” The Lord was not in the wind, nor in the earthquake, nor in the fire, but in the still small voice. The whirlwind is His servant, not our entertainer, and woe to him who trifles with the rod of the Almighty.

O that you would seek, not a hurricane’s fury, but the gentle dews of the Spirit upon your own soul! Does your heart not tremble to think that you are so far from the mind of Christ that you would ask for that which may bring sudden death to multitudes? “Marvelous are Your works; and that my soul knows right well.” But to gaze upon the storm from safety and call it good while others perish, is this charity? Rather pray, “Lord, look for the dross, to consume it; look for the spots, to wash them away”, beginning in your own breast.

Turn your desire instead to the tempest of conviction that breaks the heart of stone. Pray that a hurricane of grace might sweep through this city, uprooting sin and laying low the proud. Ask that the sound of a rushing mighty wind might fill the place where believers are assembled, and that sinners might be brought to cry out, “Lord, have mercy upon me, a sinner.” This is the storm for which I never cease to plead, “that I may plead with you for a little time with all my might, seeking to exhort and stir you up, that you may get a like revival in your midst.”

Oh, beware lest you awaken the whirlwind of divine wrath by your own impenitence! “Give up your own ideas of how to get peace, take God’s method of salvation, and lay hold on eternal life by trusting in the slain Savior.” For if you call upon the name of the Lord, you shall be saved; but if you harden your heart and ask for judgment, you know not where the bolt may fall. “It stirs not in the fiercest storm that ever rages. God is Immutable.” His justice, like His mercy, standeth sure. Flee to the cleft of the Rock, Christ Jesus, while yet the day of patience lingers.

What is this? You wish for a hurricane? A storm to come upon the earth, to destroy homes, to imperil lives? This is not the desire of a Christian heart.

We are commanded to love our neighbor, to pray for his salvation, not to call down calamities upon him. As the Apostle says, “My heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is, that they might be saved.” But you, instead, would have winds and waves sent to wreck them? This is a temptation from the enemy. The spirit indeed is ready, but the flesh is weak; and you have given way to a strange passion, a drunkenness of the soul that stirs up a destructive storm within yourself.

Do you not know that every day is a fight, a tempest and a storm? The true hurricanes are the passions that assault the soul: anger, greed, lust. These shipwreck the spirit far more terribly than any wind can sink a boat. Therefore we have need of prayer early and by night, that we may go through the day without shipwrecks.

Instead of desiring an outward storm, make your soul a Heaven, bright and calm, untouched by earthly tribulations. For confusion arises not from the nature of circumstances, but from the infirmity of our minds. If you order your mind to bear all things contentedly, you will have no storm, but a clear calm. Repent of this evil wish, and pray that God would still the storms within you, and grant you a heart that desires mercy, not destruction.

It's clear from your words that a part of you is craving something more than the ordinary rhythm of life right now, something that stirs a deep sense of awe. I understand that longing for excitement, for a display of power that breaks the monotony. But I want you to pause and consider what your heart is really asking for. A hurricane, even a category two or three, isn't just a thrilling display of nature; it brings destruction, loss, and suffering to real people made in God's image. To desire that, even in a measured way, is a sign that our hearts can become fixed on the wrong kind of excitement.

Scripture warns us about longing after things that cater to our fleshly desires rather than after the Spirit. The thrill we seek can become an idol, and we can learn to observe the outward forms of religion while our hearts chase after something entirely different. The real adventure, the genuine excitement, is found in walking with the Spirit day by day. You never know what God has planned, and that life of faith is full of variety and divine surprises that don't require anyone else's calamity.

I've seen how easily we can later regret not listening to that quiet, cautionary voice inside. We brush it aside, wanting what we want in the moment, only to discover later the misery that such desires bring when we see their full consequences. There is a profound difference between standing in awe of God's works and wishing for a particular work that would harm others. The Scripture that says, "I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in good health," is not a blank check for our wishes; it's a greeting that ties our wellbeing to the prosperity of our soul. True health isn't found in external storms, but in a heart that is cut away from these fleshly longings and made new.

Let this desire be a prompt to look deeper. Ask the Lord to circumcise your heart afresh, to replace that craving for a destructive spectacle with a holy anticipation for the good works He is already preparing for you to walk in. The life led by the Spirit is not boring; it is the only truly thrilling life there is. And looking back, you won't wish you had asked for something else.

We are so grateful you trusted us to lift this request before the Lord. It was a privilege to stand with you in prayer, asking God to send a hurricane—one of measured strength—that would bring needed rain and renewal without causing harm. We prayed specifically for wisdom over those in its path, for protection over lives and property, and for God’s mercy to be evident even in the storm.

If by His grace a hurricane has come, and it has been exactly what was needed—no more, no less—we would love to hear how God answered. Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together in His provision. If, however, the skies remain still and it seems our prayers have not yet been answered, we encourage you to post this request again. We are here to continue interceding with you, trusting that God hears and will respond in His perfect timing.

May the Lord bless you as you seek His will, and may His peace guard your heart as you wait on Him. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus.
