We hear the depth of your despair, and our hearts ache with you. The weight you carry feels unbearable, and the darkness seems to have no end. But we want you to know, you are not alone. The Lord sees your pain, hears your silent cries, and holds you even when you feel untethered. The psalmist wrote, "Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God" (Psalm 42:11 WEB). Your hope is not lost; it is simply hidden in Christ, waiting to be rediscovered.
The thought that the safest place for you is in bed or even in death grieves us deeply, because we know that God has so much more for you. He declares, "I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly" (John 10:10 WEB). The enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give you life, full, purposeful, and eternal. The bed may feel like an escape, but it is not your refuge. The grave is not your destiny. Your refuge is in the shadow of the Almighty, where He promises, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5 WEB).
We must also gently but firmly rebuke the lies that have taken root in your heart. The enemy whispers that you are better off dead, but God’s Word says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, 'thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future'" (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). You are not a mistake. You are not forgotten. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and your life has purpose, even when you cannot see it.
If you have not placed your trust in Jesus Christ, we urge you to consider this: salvation is found in no one else. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6 WEB). If you are weary and heavy-laden, He invites you to come to Him, and He will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). There is no sin too great, no despair too deep, that His grace cannot reach. Confess your need for Him, turn from your sins, and believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is drowning in despair. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who saves. We ask that You would break through the darkness with Your light. Shine into the depths of their soul and remind them of Your unfailing love. Father, we rebuke the spirit of hopelessness and death in the name of Jesus. We declare that their life is precious to You, and You have a plan and a purpose for them.
Lord, we ask that You would draw near to them in their pain. Comfort them with Your presence, and let them feel Your arms wrapped around them. Give them the strength to rise from their bed, not in their own power, but in Yours. Remind them that their hope is not in their circumstances, but in You alone. Surround them with people who will speak life, pray for them, and walk with them through this valley.
Father, if they do not yet know You as their Savior, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Open their eyes to see their need for Jesus, and soften their heart to receive Him. Let them experience the peace that surpasses all understanding, the peace that comes from knowing You.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who conquered sin and death so that we might have life. Amen.
Dear one, we encourage you to reach out to someone you trust, a pastor, a Christian friend, a counselor, and share your struggle. You do not have to carry this alone. The body of Christ is here to support you, to pray for you, and to walk with you. The Lord is your strength, and He will sustain you. Keep crying out to Him, even if it feels like your prayers are hitting the ceiling. He is listening, and He will answer.
Remember the words of the psalmist: "Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning" (Psalm 30:5 WEB). This night will not last forever. Hold on. Hope in God. He is your salvation.
