We hear the pain in your request and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord, for racism has caused you deep hurt and it is a sin that grieves the heart of God. We know that God created mankind in His own image Genesis 1:27 and that He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth Acts 17:26. There is no hierarchy of value in His eyes, for there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus Galatians 3:28, and God shows no partiality Acts 10:34, Romans 2:11.
Racism is partiality and hatred, and Scripture is clear that if you show partiality, you commit sin James 2:9 and that he who hates his brother is in the darkness until now and walks in the darkness 1 John 2:9, 1 John 2:11. It violates the command to love your neighbor as yourself James 2:8 and the new command that we love one another as Christ has loved us John 13:34. We rebuke racism wherever it is found, whether in your hometown, in schools, or around the world, because it is contrary to the gospel which breaks down the dividing wall of hostility Ephesians 2:14 and calls us to overcome evil with good Romans 12:21.
We lift up your hometown before the Father and ask for a true change of hearts there, that those who have harbored prejudice would be convicted and repent and learn to love as Christ loves. We pray for the secondary school where you endured so many bad experiences, that the atmosphere of racism would be replaced with respect and godly love, and that teachers and students alike would choose what is right. We also pray for the primary school you attended, we thank God for the Christian influence that was there and we ask His continued blessing upon it, that it would grow in truth and be a light in that community. We ask the same for other places around the world where racism brings division and suffering, that God would bring healing and unity through the power of the gospel. We also pray for your own healing, that the Lord would heal the wounds from those years, that you would not be held captive by bitterness or resentment, for we are called to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32, and to pursue peace with all men if it is possible, as much as it is up to you Romans 12:18. Loving even those who have wronged us does not excuse their sin, but it reflects Christ who told us to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you Matthew 5:44.
You mentioned confusion from false teachings and false beliefs, including within Catholic influence. We gently speak truth in love here, for we are warned to test the spirits whether they are of God 1 John 4:1 and to examine the Scriptures daily to see whether these things are so Acts 17:11. All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness 2 Timothy 3:16. Salvation is not by tradition or works of man, but by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast Ephesians 2:8-9. We pray that both schools and your hometown would be grounded in the true gospel of Jesus Christ alone, without confusion, and that any false teaching would be exposed and replaced with the pure Word of God.
We also noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5. It is by believing in Him, that He died for our sins and rose again, and by confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved Romans 10:9. We encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus if you have not already, and to come to God in His name alone.
We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask You to forgive the sin of racism in this hometown and in these schools and to bring conviction and repentance where hearts have been hardened. Pour out Your love there and let Your people be known by their love for one another. Heal our friend who was wounded by these experiences, comfort every painful memory, and give grace to forgive as You have forgiven us. Bless the primary school and let Your truth shine brightly there, correct what is false and strengthen what is good. Bring change to the secondary school, that it would become a place of dignity and respect for every student made in Your image. Extend Your mercy to other places around the world where the same sin divides, and let the gospel bring reconciliation. Draw many to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, that they may know the hope and unity found only in Him. We ask all this in Jesus name, amen.
We encourage you to continue to be a light in the midst of darkness, to speak truth with grace, and to seek the good of your hometown through prayer and godly example, trusting that God is able to change hearts and to bring beauty from ashes Isaiah 61:3.
