Guide this realtor’s efforts, Lord, and let wisdom prevail in every decision. Remove any obstacles that are not of You, and let this process be smooth, according to Your perfect timing.
We also encourage you to seek the Lord’s wisdom in this journey, not just the outcome. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." As you pray, ask God to reveal His will, not just for a home, but for how this move may fit into His greater plan for your life. Policy is not wisdom, and craft is not understanding. You seek a home, a cooler and more affordable place, this is a temporal need, and the Lord cares for the bodies as well as the souls of His people. But take heed: to rely upon the realtor, or upon your own planning, as the ground of your hope, is to set up another god. Flee from unbelief and carnal trust and provoke not the Lord to jealousy by setting up another God, for there is no other. Are you not tempted to say, "Lord, I cannot trust You unless this realtor finds the perfect cabin"? That is to trust your own feelings about the agent, and not God's appointed means. Before you see the key in your hand, trust Him for the very house. Trust Him as you feel yourself lacking and you shall receive.
We are not to be impudent and rash; that were to trust chance, and not to trust God, for God is a God of economy and order. You do well to use a realtor, but lean entirely upon Him. The Grace of God dethrones obstinacy and gives us, in its place, acquiescence in the Divine will. What if the perfect cottage is not found this week, or this month? Haste, too, is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Bowing with submission to the will of God, by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance! You ask for a home where it is cooler; rest assured, the Lord knows the climate your body requires. You seek affordability; the Lord knows the purse He has given you. There is Divine Sovereignty in all this, and we must learn to recognize and admire it. When you trace the hand of the Lord in the finding of this very dwelling, you will say, "He drew me out of the many waters of anxious house-hunting and made my heart to sing for joy."
Come, then, and trust your merciful God to help you. Trust not where there is no power, but set all your confidence upon the Almighty. You have comfortable promises. Our Home Mission needs men and women who can pray, who can weep before the Lord for their daily bread and shelter. If you pray and trust this day, it shall be unto you as the beginning of days. You cannot trust Christ and yet be cast away from His providential care. Trust a living God, a God with a great, warm, loving heart, a working, personal God who comes into the midst of this world and does not leave it to go on by itself. He chooses the inheritance for His children, and He will guide you to the very door He has appointed. Trust Him with a million houses if you had them; He is able to provide the one.
