Home Purchase

Disciple of Prayer
I’ve requested prayers in the past to be approved for a mortgage and your prayers worked! However, we keep losing houses to higher bidders and we need a specific type of house because of my disability. Well, we put a bid on a house last night and we have competition. Please say prayers that the seller accepts our offer so we can live in a wonderful and safe home. Thank you!

We rejoice with you in the answered prayers for your mortgage approval, and we understand the deep longing in your heart for a home that meets your needs. The frustration of losing out on homes to higher bidders is real, but we know that our God is a God of provision and perfect timing. Let us lift this situation before Him together, trusting that He knows the desires of your heart and has a plan for your good.

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 37:4-5, "Also delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this." We encourage you to continue delighting in the Lord, committing this process to Him, and trusting that He will guide you to the right home at the right time. It’s also important to remember that God’s provision is not just about the physical home but about His peace and presence in the midst of the waiting. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."

We also want to gently remind you that all good things come from God, and it is through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to Him. Jesus said in John 14:13-14, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." It is only by the name of Jesus that we can come boldly before the throne of grace, so we pray that you continue to seek Him in all things.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, lifting up this situation to You. Lord, You know the deep desire of this family’s heart for a home that is safe, accessible, and a blessing to their lives. We ask that You would move in the heart of the seller, that they would accept this offer according to Your will. Father, we trust that You are their provider, and we ask that You would open the door to this home if it is Your plan for them. If this home is not the one You have for them, we pray that You would close the door gently and lead them to the perfect home that You have prepared.

Lord, we also ask that You would give them peace in the waiting. Help them to trust in Your timing and to rest in the knowledge that You are working all things together for their good. Guard their hearts from anxiety and frustration, and fill them with Your joy and hope. We pray that this process would draw them closer to You and that they would see Your hand at work in every detail.

Father, we thank You for the answered prayer of the mortgage approval, and we trust that You will continue to provide in ways that only You can. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus during this time. The waiting can be difficult, but remember that God is faithful, and His promises are true. Continue to seek Him in prayer, and trust that He is working behind the scenes on your behalf. If this home is not the one, know that God has something even better in store for you. Keep your heart open to His leading, and He will guide you every step of the way.

We're so glad you reached out again, and we're joining you in praying for this next step. It sounds like the mortgage approval was a real encouragement, a tangible sign that God is providing. Now you find yourselves in that anxious waiting again, and we understand how discouraging it is to keep losing out, especially when your disability makes the search feel even narrower. It's not just about wanting a house; it's about needing a place that is safe and works well for your body. That adds real weight to every bid.

In times like these, when it feels like everything comes down to another buyer's offer, we remember that God's care for you isn't limited by sellers or markets. He knows your specific needs, and He has already shown He can open doors, He did it with the mortgage, and He can do it again. We won't pretend to know the outcome, but we can trust that He sees you and hears every prayer lifted up.

One small thing that sometimes helps in competitive bids is to write a brief, honest note to the seller, letting them know a bit about who you are and why this home would mean so much to your family. Keep it simple and warm, you don't need to share everything, just enough to remind them that there are real people behind the paperwork. Not everyone does this, but it can make a difference. Whatever you decide, keep bringing your request to God and to your church family. Knowing that others are praying alongside you can be a steady comfort.

Let's pray:

Father, we thank You for the good things You've already done in this journey. We lift up this house to You now, and we ask that if it's the right one, You would move the seller's heart to accept this offer. Provide a home that is safe, accessible, and full of peace, a place where this family can truly rest. While they wait, calm their hearts with the assurance that You are at work, even when the path looks uncertain. We ask this in Jesus' name.

The testing of your faith in this waiting works patience, yet know that you are accepted in the Beloved. Though house after house has slipped beyond your grasp, your very persons are accepted of God, He delights in you individually. This acceptance is better than to be the owner of the Indies, for if you were accepted in yourselves you might well despair, but being accepted in Christ, the humblest part of your struggle, even that disappointed bid, was all accepted in the Beloved.

He that accepted us gives us access into all blessings, and says, "See, I have accepted you concerning this thing also." How one can laugh at griefs when this sweet word comes in, accepted in the Beloved! I may be crippled in body and require a special dwelling, but I am accepted in the Beloved. The very need that presses upon you is known to Him who went about doing good, beginning at home with the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Our Home Mission needs men and women who can pray, and you have done so, proving that the Lord hears.

Not only is protection from danger vouchsafed, but a sense of comfort is communicated, making the child of God feel at home under the shadow of the Almighty. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall trust. Each place of difficulty and of danger shall still be secure. The Lord will be careful to provide a home in a heavenly way, sending such a chariot for His servants as shall be most suitable. Yet mark this: the work lies at your own door. Whatsoever your hand findeth to do, do it with your might, and then leave the issue with Him. Begin at home with renewed earnestness; pray more, live nearer to God in communion while you wait.

Despise not the exhortation to keep on praying, for you will be accepted, it cannot but be that your petition will be accepted if you come. The tears of true repentance and the sighs of holy desire are the gift of God. The seller’s heart is in the Lord’s hand, and He turneth it whithersoever He will. Soon you may go home to a house of your own, and offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving in the place which the Lord shall choose. Yet whether in this cottage or another, you are going Home indeed, absent from the body, present with the Lord. Amidst the wreck of matter and the crash of worlds, safe, safe, safe, and near our God, blessed eternally shall you be. So may it be, until you enter your rest with joy, bringing souls with you to glory.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You acted like the wise merchant who does not sit at home wishing, but hires a vessel, selects sailors, and inquires about the market. You gained approval, and now you have bid. Yet do not let anxiety overthrow you. Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Build on the rock, not on sand. If God grants this home, it will be a safe dwelling against every storm; if He withholds, it is to give something better or to teach you to cling to the heavenly city.

Practice patience at home. When a child or a spouse vexes you, do not let your tongue rush to swearing. That small victory over the tongue will strengthen you for greater trials. And remember the poor: distribute even a little to them, and you draw down mercy, making any house you enter truly blessed. Peter did not say, “Pray for me,” but boldly, “Bid me come to You.” Such love and faith please the Lord. Bid Him now, and then leave the matter in His hands. Do not be a hearer who merely wonders and goes away empty. Go, act, and trust. I will pray with you that the seller’s heart be turned, but far more that your heart be fixed on Christ, the true safe home.

What a joy to hear that God answered your prayers for mortgage approval! That step was a real milestone, and it’s good to pause and thank Him for it. I know the repeated disappointment of losing houses to higher bidders wears on the heart, especially when your disability makes a certain kind of home necessary. God isn’t surprised by those needs; He knows exactly the safety and accessibility you require.

In seasons like this, it helps to remember where our ultimate security rests. Scripture paints a beautiful picture: you and I have no acceptance before God in ourselves. We can’t hold up our accomplishments and demand entrance. We are only accepted in Christ, the Beloved. And God didn’t just welcome you on a whim; He purchased you. He put down the deposit, sealing you with the Holy Spirit, marking you as His own. You are not just a random bidder in this world; you are His treasure, bought at a cost beyond measure. When Jesus gave His life, He redeemed you from a far deeper slavery than we ever realize. Think of Hosea, who went and purchased his unfaithful wife out of the market. Or Boaz, who bought the field not just for the land, but to gain a bride. In the same way, Christ purchased the whole field of this world so He could have you. That’s how much He values you. If you let that sink in, you’ll never treat yourself cheaply again.

So as you wait on this offer, I pray that the seller will look with favor on your bid, that God would open the door to a wonderful, safe home. But even while you wait, burp on these truths all week long. Let the Spirit bring back to your heart what you are to Him. Your true home is already secured. The house you ultimately need is the one He’s preparing, where you will be with Him. In the meantime, He knows the layout you require, the steps or the widths, and He cares about your earthly shelter. Rest in His ownership of your life, and trust that if this house is not the one, He has something else that will not fall short of His purposes for you. You’re not just another offer on the table; you’re the one He gave everything to possess.
