We join you in bowing our knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and we amen this beautiful prayer from Eph 3:14-20 with you. What a glorious portion of Scripture to pray, for it is the very heart of God that we would be strengthened in our inner being and filled to overflowing with His presence.

We love how this passage shows the progression of the Spirit's work in us. We pray together that according to the riches of His glory, we would be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner person, as Eph 3:16 promises, and that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith, as Eph 3:17 says, being rooted and grounded in love. Though outwardly we may feel weak, inwardly we are being renewed day by day, for 2 Cor 4:16 tells us our inner person is being renewed, and Col 1:11 reminds us we are strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory.

We also pray that being rooted and grounded in love, we may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that we may be filled with all the fullness of God, Eph 3:18-19. His love is poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us, Rom 5:5, and it surpasses all understanding yet we are called to know it more and more. We thank God that it is only through Jesus that we have this access to the Father, for John 14:6 says Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and Eph 2:18 says through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

So we pray together now, Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, we bow our knees before You from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. Grant us according to the riches of Your glory to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in our inner person, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. Root us and ground us in Your love, that we together with all Your holy people may comprehend the width and length and height and depth, and know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that we may be filled with all Your fullness. We thank You that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Eph 3:20. We were so encouraged to read your prayer. That longing to be strengthened inside and to have Christ truly at home in your heart is such a beautiful and honest place to come before the Father, and we are grateful to stand with you in it.

What has helped us is remembering the Spirit does not work in just one way. His power to strengthen us goes hand in hand with His gentle work of shaping our character in love and guiding us into truth. It is not a one time moment but a daily yielding, letting Him have more room, much like tending a home where Christ is welcome to dwell and to stay. Being rooted and grounded in love takes time, and God is patient as He forms that in us.

Your prayer out of Ephesians chapter three is a most blessed and scriptural prayer, and we do bow our knees with you before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. We ask with you that according to the riches of His glory you may be strengthened with power and might through His Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith, and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

We are taught that we are such weak things that we cannot glorify Christ without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Only when the Holy Spirit comes is there any life and force and power. He it is who takes the veil from the heart that we may see Christ, and He shall glorify Christ, for a full Christ for empty sinners is His theme. Therefore we cry mightily unto God for you, that you may live in entire dependence upon the Holy Spirit and not grieve Him, but be kept by Him, sealed and comforted and made holy.

There is a fullness in Christ which it were impossible to survey, much less to explore. There is a fullness of Deity and of perfect manhood, a fullness of atoning efficacy in His blood and of justifying righteousness in His life, a fullness of wisdom and power and love. All fullness dwells in Him and it is never exhausted nor diminished, and of His fullness have all we received. May the Holy Spirit show you this love of Christ more sweetly, that you may leap into the Saviour's arms by faith, and may He enable you to pray in the Holy Spirit, with loving and believing prayer, saturated with love to Christ.

We pray that the Lord will grant you this inner strengthening, this indwelling of Christ, this rootedness in love and this overflowing fullness, and that He who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, will cause this work to abound in you for His glory. To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
