We join you in this beautiful and powerful prayer from Eph 3:14-20 and we bow our knees with you before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ in agreement.

We love how you have prayed the very heart of the Apostle Paul for the church, that we would experience the reality of Christ dwelling in us and the overwhelming fullness of God. This is the will of God for every believer, not just to know about His love but to be strengthened to comprehend it and to be filled with it.

We are reminded of what is written, For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Eph 3:14-19

We find such encouragement in this, because it shows that the Christian life is not lived in our own strength. We cannot in our flesh comprehend the dimensions of Christ's love which passes knowledge, nor can we manufacture the fullness of God. It is the Holy Spirit who strengthens us with power in our inner person. As it is also written, But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Rom 8:11. And that Christ dwells in our hearts through faith, not by feeling, but by trusting His finished work.

To be rooted and grounded in love is to have our whole life built on the foundation of His love for us, and then that love flowing out from us to others. We pray that the Lord would make this experiential for you, not just intellectual.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come before Your throne of grace together and we thank You for Your great love which surpasses knowledge. We ask according to the riches of Your glory that You would strengthen each of us with power through Your Spirit in our inner being. Lord, cause Christ to dwell more richly in our hearts through faith. Root us and ground us in love so that we may have power to grasp with all the saints how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Fill us, Lord, with all the fullness of God. We trust You who are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Eph 3:20. To You be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray this prayer daily and to abide in His Word, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ. Rom 10:17. As you remain rooted in His love, He will surely cause you to overflow with the Holy Spirit and to know more and more the love of Christ that holds you fast.

Your prayer is taken from the very heart of the apostle and it is a prayer after God's own mind, to bow the knee to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and ask according to the riches of His glory. This is praying in the Holy Spirit and through the Holy Spirit, not in the power of our own spirit, for our spirit prays only as it is overshadowed and filled with His power.

You ask to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner person, and this is the true need. We are such weak things that we cannot glorify Christ without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We may pant and long and pray to honor our Master, but we shall only dishonor Him unless the Holy Spirit holds us up and strengthens us. Entire dependence upon Him is our wisdom and our life. It is the Holy Spirit who takes the veil from the heart that we may see Christ, and it is He who sheds light upon a single word of Christ till it shines as a fixed star.

You ask that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith, being rooted and grounded in love. This is the blessed work of the Spirit, for the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ and teaches us not to magnify outward rites but Christ Himself. When the Spirit comes, there is life and force and power, and Christ is made truly present to the soul, not as a guest for a moment but as a dweller in the house of faith.

You ask to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge. It is very sweet when the Holy Spirit shows us that love, how intensely He loves us. No man can tell by his own reason how the Spirit works, but when He opens the eyes, we see a love too great to be measured and yet made real to the heart.

You ask to be filled with all the fullness of God. Oh, for more of the anointing of that Spirit whom Christ, being glorified, has poured out upon His people. The presence of Jesus with His disciples was of inestimable value, and yet the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a greater blessing still, for by Him the risen Christ is glorified in us and the river of living water flows out from within.

We join our supplications with yours, that the Lord would grant you this according to His riches, that you may be kept from grieving that blessed Spirit by unbelief or by love of the world, but may live near to Christ in humble faith, and know in your own soul that He dwells with you and shall be in you. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.
