Dreams Visions Now, from Holy Spirit ️ While Sleeping, Job 33:12-17; Matt 2:12, Prophecy, Joel 2:28, Numb 12:6, Acts 16:9...Heavenly Father, thank You for speaking in many portions and many ways, Heb 1:1, especially through The Foundation Rock of Your Son, 1 Cor 3:11, Heb 1:2-3, and The Holy Spirit through the Apostles, John 16:12-14, and and giving us ability to understand You and Your Word, Luke 24:45, Eph 1:17. We ask for this husband and wife (entire family), that You'd give dreams and counsel, as it is written in Job 33:14, "For God does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it. 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people, as they slumber in their beds, 16 He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, 17 to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, 18 to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword."

Again, as with the affairs concerning our father, Abraham, even to those outside the covenants of God like Abimelech, Gen 20:3, like him we are fully persuaded You are able to fulfill what You promise, Rom 4:21. Pour out Your Holy Spirit on her, him, me, us, them, all flesh, as prophesied in in Joel 2:28, “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old will dream dreams, your youth will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days," Joel 2:28-29, c.f. Acts 2:17-18. Father, with humble confidence, give her, them, us dreams and visions underlining your will for us in Christ Jesus, as You have done from ancient times on those saved Matt 1:20, Matt 2:12, and unsaved alike, Gen 20:3, Gen 31:24, Dan 2:1, Dan 4:5, until present, Acts 19:6, and You will continue to though the future, Heb 13:8. Your arm is not too short, Num 11:23, especially to save, Isa 50:2, Isa 59:1.

Again, as little children, "we know You can do all things,"Job 42:2, That "nothing shall be impossible with God," Luke 1:27, "The things impossible with man are possible with God," Mark 10:27. Keep her, him, and us from temptation, sin, evil, wrongdoing, lies, fear, evil people, deception, and the evil one, Lk 11:4, 1 Cor 8:1, Zeph 3:13, 2 Cor 13:7, 2 Cor 11:6, 2 Tim 3:5, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, 2 Thes 3:2, Matt 24:4, Rev 12:9, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thes 3:3. We join with you in thanking our Heavenly Father that He is a God who speaks and who has not left us without His counsel and guidance. We agree with your hunger to hear from Him and to understand His will, and we rejoice that you have centered your request on His Word and on the name of Jesus, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father.

We affirm with you what Scripture teaches, that God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, Heb 1:1-2, whom you rightly call the foundation rock, 1 Cor 3:11, and that the Holy Spirit was sent to guide the apostles into all truth, John 16:13, and to open our understanding that we might understand the Scriptures, Luke 24:45. We also affirm that God has spoken in dreams and visions as you have cited, for God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed; then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man, Job 33:14-17. He said, Hear now my words. If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream, Num 12:6, and as you quoted, It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions, Joel 2:28, which Peter declared was fulfilled at Pentecost, Acts 2:17.

We also gently encourage discernment as we seek such leading today. While God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, Heb 13:8, and His arm is not too short to save, Isa 59:1, His full and final revelation is in His Son and in the completed Scriptures, which are God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work, 2 Tim 3:16-17. Every dream, vision, or prophecy must be tested against that perfect standard, for we are told to not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, 1 John 4:1, and to test all things, and hold firmly that which is good, 1 Thess 5:21. Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path, Psalm 119:105, and that lamp must judge any light we think we have received in the night. We must not seek the experience of a dream above the clarity of the written Word, nor be led astray by deceptions, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light, 2 Cor 11:14, and we must stand firm on what is written, as Isaiah warned, To the law and to the testimony, If they do not speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them, Isa 8:20.

We also rejoice in your prayer for this husband and wife and their entire family. We uphold the sanctity of marriage as God designed it, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and we pray that this family will be strengthened in that covenant and in faithfulness to Christ.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for speaking to us most clearly through Your Son and through Your holy written Word, and we thank You that You still counsel, warn, and comfort Your people by Your Holy Spirit. We ask in the name of Jesus that You would pour out wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, Eph 1:17, upon this husband and wife and their whole household, and upon all of us who seek You. If it is Your will, speak to them in dreams in the night as You did with Joseph, Matt 1:20, and with the wise men, Matt 2:12, to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride and preserve them from the pit, Job 33:17-18. Give them clear understanding of Your Word, that they may not be led by fear or imagination, but by Your Spirit of truth. Keep them and us from temptation, from evil, from deception, and from the evil one, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, and deliver us from every evil work, 2 Thess 3:3. We ask that whatever You show them would be confirmed by Scripture and would draw them closer to Jesus Christ, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. Let this family walk in the fear of Yahweh and not in the fear of man, Isa 8:12-13, trusting that You can do all things and that nothing is impossible with You, Job 42:2, Luke 1:37. We thank You in advance, trusting that You hear us when we ask according to Your will, Mark 11:24, 1 John 5:14. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our foundation, Amen.

We were moved by your prayer for your husband, your wife and your whole household to hear from the Lord with clarity. Wanting His counsel and protection over your family is a good and loving desire, and we join you in asking for it.

We love how you point to God's faithfulness to speak and guide. In our own walk we have learned to lean on the Holy Spirit as our Helper and Counselor who gently leads us into truth. One of the steady ways He does that is by keeping our hearts anchored in Scripture, so that any impression, dream or sense of direction can be weighed calmly and clearly against what God has already said. That keeps us both open to His leading and protected from confusion.

A simple next step that has helped many couples is to make a brief, regular time to pray together and bring what you sense before the Lord and His Word, and if something stands out from a dream or thought, to talk it through with a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you well. Walking that out together can help bring the peace and unity you are asking for.

We have heard your prayer and we join you in thanking the Lord that He has not left us without a word from Himself. In former times He did speak in many portions and many ways, by dreams in the night and by visions and by prophets, as you have rightly cited from Job and Joel and Numbers and Matthew. Yet the apostle tells us that in these last days He has spoken unto us by His Son, and that Son is set forth as the Foundation Rock upon which all sure knowledge is built. The Holy Spirit now takes the things of Christ and shows them unto us, not by adding new revelations to the finished testimony, but by opening our understandings that we might understand the Scriptures, as He did for the disciples when He opened their eyes on the road to Emmaus.

This is our comfort and our safeguard. There is no attribute more comforting to the children of God than Divine Sovereignty, and there is no guidance more sure than that which He gives through His Word. Naturally we do not like being guided, and we are prone to haste, which is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. We would have a sign in the night, a voice in a dream, a sudden terror or wonder to turn us. But the Lord in His wisdom has given us a more excellent way. He infuses great principles in every man who takes God for his Guide, and the chief of these is to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God. By that very acquiescence we are furnished with unerring guidance. Divine Wisdom, dressed in robes of love and tenderness, invites us to run into her arms through the plain pages of Scripture, where Christ with His wounds pleads for us and must prevail.

We do not despise the sovereignty of God to speak as He wills, for His arm is not shortened that it cannot save, and He can still preserve from the pit and keep from pride as He did with Abimelech and with Joseph and with Daniel. Yet we would have you seek not after dreams and visions as the ordinary rule of your walk, lest you be led into deception, for the heart is deceitful and the evil one is cunning to counterfeit light. The Divine Presence itself is the one hope of the people of God, and that Presence is to be enjoyed in the Word, in prayer, in obedience, and in communion with Christ.

Therefore we pray for this husband and wife and their entire household, that the Lord would pour out His grace upon them according to His sovereign mercy. May He give you illumination in the Scriptures, that with humble confidence you may perceive His will in Christ Jesus. May He keep you from temptation and from evil, from lies and fear and the snares of evil men, and from the wiles of the evil one. May He establish you upon the Rock which is Christ, deliver your souls from death and your feet from falling, and guide you with His counsel until afterward He shall receive you to glory. We ask not for strange wonders, but for that Divine Gentleness which acknowledges the lowly, lifts up the fallen, and makes the dry tree to flourish by the dew of heaven, all through the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray, Amen.
