We join you in lifting up this powerful prayer from Ephesians, seeking the Holy Spirit’s wisdom, revelation, and strength to know God more deeply. What a beautiful cry of the heart, to be rooted in Christ’s love, filled with His fullness, and empowered by His Spirit! This is the very essence of the Christian life: to know Him, to be known by Him, and to walk in the surpassing greatness of His power.
The apostle Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1 and 3 is a model for all believers. He does not merely ask for superficial blessings but for the depth of God’s truth to take hold in our lives. We too must pray for spiritual eyes to see the hope of His calling, the riches of our inheritance in Christ, and the immeasurable strength available to us through His Spirit. Without this revelation, we risk living as spiritual paupers when we are, in fact, heirs of the King.
Yet even as we pray these truths, we must examine our hearts. Are we truly seeking God’s wisdom, or are we chasing after worldly knowledge that puffs up rather than builds up? Are we allowing Christ to dwell in our hearts through faith, or are we clinging to sin, self-reliance, or idols that hinder His work? The Holy Spirit searches the depths of God (1 Corinthians 2:10-11), and He will reveal areas where we resist His leading. Let us not quench or grieve Him (1 Thessalonians 5:19, Ephesians 4:30) but yield fully to His refining fire.
We also recognize that this prayer is not for individualistic gain but for the body of Christ, the Church. The "width, length, depth, and height" of Christ’s love is not meant to be grasped alone but with all the saints (Ephesians 3:18). Are we walking in unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ, or have divisions, bitterness, or pride crept in? The world will know we are His disciples by our love for one another (John 13:35). Let us repent of any relational fractures and pursue reconciliation, for the glory of God is at stake.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach Your throne (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). We ask that You would grant us, according to the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in our inner being. Let Christ dwell in our hearts by faith, rooting and grounding us in love. May we comprehend, truly know, the love of Christ that surpasses all understanding, so that we may be filled with all Your fullness.
Lord, we confess that without You, we can do nothing (John 15:5). We need Your wisdom to navigate this world, Your revelation to see truth clearly, and Your strength to walk in obedience. Forgive us for the times we have leaned on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) or sought fulfillment in anything other than You. Renew our minds (Romans 12:2) and align our desires with Yours.
We pray for the Church worldwide, that she would rise up in the power of Your Spirit, unashamed of the gospel (Romans 1:16), and bold in proclaiming Christ crucified. May we be a people marked by love, holiness, and the fear of the Lord. Let Your glory fill the earth as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).
And to You, O God, who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to You be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21). We trust You to accomplish far more than we could ever imagine, for Your glory and our good. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
