Beloved Servant
"But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so they may have My joy fulfilled within them. I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world. For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the Truth. I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one — I in them and You in Me — that they may be perfected in unity, so the world may know You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me. And I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them,” John 17:13-26

We come before the Father with hearts full of reverence and awe as we reflect on the High Priestly Prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ in John 17. What a profound and beautiful passage this is, where the Son of God intercedes for us, His followers, with such love, purpose, and divine intention. This prayer is not just for the disciples who walked with Him then, but for all of us who believe in Him today. We are humbled to stand in the gap, lifting up these truths before the throne of grace, that they may take root in our lives and bear fruit for the glory of God.

Father, we thank You for the joy of Christ that You desire to fulfill within us. Jesus said, *"But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so they may have My joy fulfilled within them."* Lord, we confess that too often we seek joy in the things of this world—temporary pleasures, achievements, or relationships that do not honor You. But You offer us a joy that is complete, a joy that remains even in trials and suffering. Fill us afresh with the joy of our salvation, the joy of knowing You and being known by You. Let this joy be our strength, as the psalmist declares, *"You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of gladness with Your presence"* (Acts 2:28). May our lives radiate this joy so that others may see and desire the hope we have in Christ.

We also thank You for Your Word, which Jesus has given to us. He said, *"I have given them Your Word, and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world."* Father, Your Word is truth, and it is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Yet we live in a world that increasingly rejects Your truth, calling evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20). Strengthen us to stand firm in Your Word, even when it costs us. Sanctify us by Your truth, for Your Word is truth. Cleanse our hearts and minds from the lies of the enemy and the deceptions of this age. Help us to meditate on Your Word day and night, that we may be like trees planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in season (Psalm 1:2-3).

Lord Jesus, You prayed, *"I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one."* We live in a fallen world, surrounded by temptation, sin, and the schemes of the devil. But You have not left us defenseless. You have given us the armor of God to stand against the wiles of the evil one (Ephesians 6:11). Clothe us in this armor daily—with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word. Guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and deliver us from every evil work.

We are struck by the unity that Jesus prayed for among His followers: *"that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me."* Father, we confess that the body of Christ is often divided—by denominational lines, by pride, by selfish ambition, and by a lack of love. Forgive us for the times we have contributed to this division. Teach us to love one another as Christ has loved us (John 13:34-35). Let us be known by our love, so that the world may see and believe. Unite us in the truth of Your Word and in the mission You have given us—to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). May our unity be a testimony to the world that You are indeed the Son of God, sent by the Father.

Lord, You also prayed, *"I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them."* Father, we long for the world to know Your Name, to know Your love, and to know the salvation that comes only through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Yet so many in this world do not know You. They seek after false gods, false religions, or the empty philosophies of men. We pray for a great awakening, that hearts would be turned to You. Use us as vessels to make Your Name known, to share the gospel with boldness and love. Let the love You have for Your Son dwell in us richly, that we may love others as You have loved us.

We are also mindful of the cleansing power of Your Word. Jesus said, *"Sanctify them by the truth; Your Word is truth."* Father, we confess that we are sinners in need of Your sanctifying work. Your Word exposes our sin, convicts our hearts, and leads us to repentance. Wash us clean by the blood of Jesus, and renew a right spirit within us (Psalm 51:10). Help us to walk in holiness, not as a burden, but as a joyful response to Your grace. Let Your Word dwell in us richly, teaching and admonishing us in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16).

Lord, we are grateful for the promise that one day we will see Your glory. Jesus prayed, *"Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world."* What a hope we have! One day, we will be with You forever, free from sin, sorrow, and death. Until that day, help us to live in light of eternity. May we store up treasures in heaven, not on earth (Matthew 6:19-20). Let our lives be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You (Romans 12:1).

Finally, Lord, we pray for those who do not yet know You. Jesus said, *"I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message."* Father, we lift up our unsaved family members, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Open their eyes to see the truth of the gospel. Soften their hearts to receive Your love. Send laborers into their lives to share the good news of Jesus Christ. May they hear, believe, and be saved.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, the name above every name, the only name by which we can come to the Father. For there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We thank You for the privilege of prayer, for the access we have to Your throne through the blood of Jesus. May our prayers be pleasing in Your sight, and may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

Dear friend, we join you in lifting up the beautiful words of Jesus' High Priestly Prayer in John 17. What a profound and intimate glimpse we get into the heart of our Lord as He intercedes for us, His followers, with such love and purpose. It's humbling to stand in the gap, echoing these truths before the throne of grace, that they may take root in our lives and bear fruit for the glory of God.

We thank the Father for the joy of Christ that He desires to fulfill within us. Lord, we confess that too often we seek joy in the things of this world - temporary pleasures, achievements, or relationships that do not honor You. Lord Jesus, You prayed, "I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one" (John 17:15). We live in a fallen world, surrounded by temptation, sin, and the schemes of the devil. But You have not left us defenseless. You have given us the armor of God to stand against the wiles of the evil one (Ephesians 6:11). Clothe us in this armor daily - with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me" (John 17:21). Father, we confess that the body of Christ is often divided - by denominational lines, by pride, by selfish ambition, and by a lack of love. Forgive us for the times we have contributed to this division. Teach us to love one another as Christ has loved us (John 13:34-35). Let us be known by our love, so that the world may see and believe. Lord, You also prayed, "I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them" (John 17:26). Father, we long for the world to know Your Name, to know Your love, and to know the salvation that comes only through Jesus Christ. Yet so many in this world do not know You. What a hope we have!

Jesus said, "I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those You have given Me, because they belong to You" (John 17:9). Father, we lift up our unsaved family members, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Open their eyes to see the truth of the gospel. Soften their hearts to receive Your love. Send laborers into their lives to share the good news of Jesus Christ. May they hear, believe, and be saved.
