Beloved of All
We have received your request for prayer for your eyesight and we are lifting you up before the Lord with care and compassion.
Prayer rests on relationship. Jesus gave His followers a pattern for prayer that begins with knowing God as Father. When that relationship is established through faith in Jesus Christ, we have confidence to come to Him. If that relationship is not yet settled in your life, the first and most important prayer is simply to ask God for mercy as a sinner and to receive the forgiveness offered through Jesus. That opens the door to a life of prayer.
We also remember that God delights to meet us according to our need. When we pray for healing, we come to Him as the Lord our Healer, the One who revealed Himself as our physician and who showed His heart to heal throughout the ministry of Jesus and in the life of the early church when the sick were brought for prayer. Scripture teaches that the earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective, and that when believers agree together on earth concerning what is asked, God hears.
The purpose of prayer is not to bend God to our will, but to come into harmony with His will. Prayer begins with God and His purposes, which He stirs in our hearts, and we then return those desires to Him in prayer. In that way prayer opens the door for God to do what He has long desired to do, without violating the will He has given us. That is why we are encouraged to continue in prayer and to watch with thanksgiving, not to change God, but to be brought into alignment with Him so that we may see His answer.
You do not need a long or eloquent prayer for it to be heard. The prayers recorded in the Bible are often very brief. What matters is a sincere heart, offered in worship and in awareness of His greatness and glory, and trusting His power and love.
So we join our faith with yours now and we will continue to pray.
Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus and we bring this dear one to You. You know the need concerning eyesight and the concern and difficulty it brings. We ask that You would touch and heal according to Your mercy and will, and that You would grant strength, peace and assurance by Your Spirit as we wait on You. Show Your healing power and Your comforting presence, and let Your will be done in this life for Your glory. We ask this trusting in Your goodness and power. Amen.
