We hear your pain and concern, and we stand with you in seeking God’s wisdom and intervention in this situation. The Bible is clear that friendship with those who do not honor God’s design for relationships can lead us away from His will. Scripture warns us, "Do not be deceived: 'Bad company corrupts good morals'" (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB). The influence of someone who embraces a lifestyle contrary to God’s Word, particularly one that Scripture explicitly calls sin (Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10), can create confusion, division, and spiritual harm in a relationship that should be built on godly principles.
We must also address the reality of what is happening here. If the woman you love is maintaining a close friendship with someone who is living in unrepentant sin, it raises serious concerns about her own discernment and commitment to biblical truth. A godly marriage cannot thrive when one or both parties are entangled in relationships that contradict Scripture. "Can two walk together unless they are agreed?" (Amos 3:3 WEB). If she is unwilling to set boundaries with those who oppose God’s Word, it may reveal a deeper issue in her walk with the Lord.
We rebuke the lies and slander being spoken against you by this former housemate. The enemy seeks to sow discord and mistrust, but we declare that no weapon formed against you will prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). We pray that God would expose any falsehoods and protect your reputation. However, we must also urge you to examine your own heart, are you walking in love, humility, and forgiveness, even toward someone who may have wronged you? Jesus commands us, "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you" (Luke 6:27 WEB). This does not mean tolerating sin, but it does mean refusing to let bitterness take root.
We also want to gently challenge you: Are you and this woman in a courtship with the intent of marriage, or are you in a relationship that has not been committed to God’s design? If you are not married, Scripture is clear that intimacy outside of marriage is sin (1 Corinthians 6:18, Hebrews 13:4). If this is the case, we urge you to repent and seek God’s will for your relationship. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it must be entered into with wisdom, purity, and a shared commitment to Christ.
Now, let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved and the only way to You (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). Lord, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your divine intervention. We pray for the woman in this man’s life, that You would open her eyes to the truth of Your Word and the influence of those who do not walk in Your ways. Give her discernment, Lord, and a heart that seeks after You above all else. If this relationship is not in Your will, we ask that You would bring it to an end in a way that glorifies You and protects both of their hearts.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of division and slander that is at work through this former housemate. We declare that no weapon formed against this man will prosper, and we ask that You would expose any lies and protect his reputation. Lord, we also pray for his own heart, that You would guard him against bitterness, unforgiveness, and fear. Help him to walk in love, even toward those who have wronged him, while still standing firm on Your truth.
If this relationship is meant to lead to marriage, we pray that You would purify it, Lord. Convict both of them of any sin, including any sexual immorality, and lead them to repentance. May they both seek You first and build their relationship on the foundation of Christ. If this relationship is not Your will, we ask that You would bring it to a close with clarity and peace, and that You would heal their hearts and redirect them to Your perfect plan.
Lord, we also pray for the former housemate. We ask that You would soften her heart and draw her to repentance. Convict her of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and lead her to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. May she turn from her ways and find true freedom in You.
We trust You, Lord, to work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Give this man wisdom, discernment, and peace as he navigates this situation. May he seek You above all else, and may Your will be done in his life. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature Christian who can help you navigate this situation with wisdom. Surround yourself with believers who will speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Remember, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10 WEB). Trust in God’s timing and His perfect plan for your life. If this woman is not the one He has for you, He will bring someone who shares your faith and commitment to Christ. Do not compromise your standards for the sake of a relationship that does not honor God. Stand firm, and He will guide your steps.
