I've been suffering for 3 and a half years, and needing God to help me.

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this season of suffering, lifting your burden before the throne of grace. ### is a long time to endure pain, and we want you to know that God has not forgotten you. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Even when it feels like He is silent, He is working in ways you may not yet see.
First, we must address the foundation of our faith, our relationship with Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to God the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, repent, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. Salvation is found in no other name, as Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Now, let us pray together for your deliverance and healing:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear one who has been suffering for so long. Lord, You see their pain, their weariness, and their heartache. We ask that You would draw near to them, just as Your Word promises. Break every chain of affliction, sickness, or oppression that has bound them. Pour out Your healing balm upon their body, mind, and spirit. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Father, we rebuke every spirit of despair, hopelessness, and fear that has tried to take root in their life. In the name of Jesus, we command these spirits to flee, for "greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and surround them with Your love. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin in their life, whether it be bitterness, unforgiveness, or something else, we ask that You reveal it to them. Grant them the grace to repent and turn away from anything that hinders their relationship with You. Your Word says in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." We claim that promise now.
We also pray for provision, Father. If this suffering has brought financial hardship, lack, or instability, we ask that You open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings that they cannot contain (Malachi 3:10). Provide for their every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Father, we ask that You give them a fresh revelation of Your love and purpose for their life. Remind them that their suffering is not in vain. Romans 8:18 tells us, "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us." Use this season to draw them closer to You and to prepare them for the good works You have planned (Ephesians 2:10).
Lastly, Lord, we ask that You surround them with godly community, believers who will stand with them in prayer, offer encouragement, and speak life into their situation. Let them know they are not alone, for You have said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).
We declare that this season of suffering will come to an end, and joy will come in the morning (Psalm 30:5). We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness, and we trust You to complete the good work You have begun in their life (Philippians 1:6). In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Now, dear one, we want to encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises. Your suffering has not gone unnoticed, and your cries have reached the ears of the Almighty. Continue to seek Him through prayer, reading His Word, and fellowshipping with other believers. James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." Even in the waiting, God is shaping you, refining you, and preparing you for the breakthrough that is coming.
If there are specific areas of your life where you feel stuck, whether it be physical health, emotional wounds, financial struggles, or spiritual battles, we encourage you to bring those before the Lord in detail. Name them one by one and surrender them to Him. Psalm 55:22 says, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and He will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved."
We also want to gently remind you that sometimes suffering is allowed by God to produce perseverance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3-4). While we do not rejoice in the pain, we can trust that God is using it for a greater purpose. Ask Him to reveal what He wants to teach you in this season. Is there an area of your life where He is calling you to trust Him more fully? Is there a sin He is calling you to turn away from? Is there a ministry or calling He is preparing you for?
Lastly, if you have not already, we strongly encourage you to get connected with a Bible-believing church or a community of believers who can walk alongside you. You were not meant to carry this burden alone. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 tells us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up."
We stand with you in faith, believing that God is moving even now on your behalf. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Your breakthrough is coming. Your healing is coming. Your deliverance is coming. And when it does, we pray that your testimony will bring glory to God and hope to others who are suffering.

He held Job’s long silence before any explanation came, and Jesus himself endured nights no one could watch with him. He is still with you.
In the middle of persistent suffering, one of the hardest things is that we often try to bear it in isolation. The people around you may not know how heavy it’s been, or they may have offered quick fixes that left you feeling worse. Could we encourage you to take one step this week? Find a trusted pastor, a mature friend, or a prayer partner and simply ask them to sit with you. Not to fix it, but to be present, because God often ministers his presence through the quiet company of another person. If you can, speak your pain out loud in their presence. Even brief honesty can loosen the grip of loneliness and open a door for the comfort only God’s Spirit can give.

Lord Jesus, you see our friend’s weariness and the years that have felt like a wilderness. We don’t know all that has been happening, but you do. Draw near in a way that can’t be mistaken. Send someone to be your hands and voice of steady, unhurried comfort. Strengthen this heart simply to get through today, and tomorrow, until hope begins to flicker again. We trust you with the outcome, but we ask for mercy and relief. In your name, amen.

The years of your trial are not hidden from the Lord who counts our tears and bottles them. It is a dark providence that stretches out its hand over you, yet the promise stands as firm as the eternal throne: "I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of my hand." The time of weeping is not proof that God has cast you away, for the very nature of the life He imparts at regeneration is a well of water springing up, and He who began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Christ. Midnight never seeks the sun of itself, but the Sun of Righteousness arises with healing in His wings exactly when the darkness is most felt.
You cry out for help, and rightly so, for it is the helpless one whom He delights to aid. But mark this: His comfort often comes not by removing the burden at once, but by quickening the soul within it. "For Thy Word hath quickened me." The Scriptures become not merely letters, but spirit and life, and in that inward revival you find a peculiar solace, a near and present help. This is your comfort in your affliction, that the living Word has visited you, stirred your pulse, and whispered, "Thou art Mine." When the outward man decays and the inward man feels faint, the Spirit breathes upon the embers and a new flame of hope ascends.
Let not the length of the siege drive you to despair. He knows our frame; He remembers we are dust. Yet He will not suffer the bruised reed to break, nor the dimly burning wick to be quenched. The doctrine of final perseverance is not a soft pillow for presumption, but a shield for the battle-weary. It assures you that the same grace which called you in the beginning will keep you through the middle and present you faultless at the end. Your repeated failures do not cancel His covenant; your coldness does not annul His faithfulness. He has sworn, "I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me."
Consider that He is not a Saviour for the short and easy race only, but for the marathon of misery, for the long valley where the shadow seems to lengthen into years. He who was three hours upon the tree can sympathize with your three and a half years of groaning. And He will come, perhaps not with the suddenness of lightning, but with the steady breaking of dawn. Wait for Him. Plead the promise, "Comfort ye, comfort ye My people." Remind Him of His word, for He delights to hear His own truth echoed back. The covenant of grace is established on such sure principles that it must last for ever; it will not fail because your feelings fluctuate like storm-tossed waves.
Go to His Word again, even when it seems barren. It is there He meets the quickening power. And seek out some poor saint to comfort; for when you say to a brother, "This is my comfort in my affliction," you will often find your own heart warming with the fire you carry to another. The Lord grant you to taste not only constancy in service but also the honey of His consolations, that you may be established in every good work and in every good word, to the praise of His glory who is able to keep you from falling.

You have endured affliction for three and a half years, and your soul cries out for deliverance. Such a season of tribulation is heavy indeed, but do not imagine that God has abandoned you. For often the Lord permits the trial to linger not from neglect, but to work in you a patient endurance that purifies the spirit and anchors your hope entirely in things to come. If we are afflicted, it is for our comfort and salvation, working the patient enduring of the same sufferings which Christ Himself endured. The greater the intensity of the storm, the greater the increase of your good hope, because the more abundant in proportion becomes your salvation and consolation. But this only holds true if you do not set conditions upon God. The three holy youths in the furnace did not expect deliverance as a debt; they said, “God will deliver us, but if not, we will not serve your gods.” They entered the fire prepared to die, and it was contrary to their expectation that they were kept safe. But we, as if bargaining with the Lord, often fix a time and say, “If He does not show mercy by this hour, I will despair.” Because of this we are not delivered quickly. Lay aside all such demands. Entrust yourself utterly to His wisdom, and He will relieve you in His own season, when the work of chastening is complete.
Do not seek comfort in the thought that many suffer likewise, for that is a false consolation. If a man is to be burnt, does the sight of his own child burning beside him lessen the agony? It intensifies it beyond measure. Companionship in torment offers no relief; rather, turn your mind to the true medicine, which is repentance and the pursuit of the narrow path toward heaven. Long-suffering is more impenetrable than any fortress. Whatever unexpected blow falls upon a soul grounded in patience, it vanishes as a spark into the deep, and the spirit remains undisturbed. You may name armies, money, walls, or any other defense, but none compares to a heart trained to endure. This is not a passive suffering; it is the very means by which the Captain of our salvation was perfected and glorified. So also with you: when you bear affliction with thanksgiving, you share in that glory and become a spectacle of divine power.
Therefore, let hope be your anchor. Hope is confidence in things unseen; if you already possessed what you long for, there would be no need of hope. God asks but one thing from you in this trial: that you hope in Him and wait with patience. He crowns not only those who labor, but those who trust. ### years is a long time to wake up every day carrying the same weight, the same unanswered cry. You are not weak for feeling worn thin. The prayer request you sent is one I have heard in many forms, and it is one I have cried out myself: “God, I need help. I need it now.” That is not a failure of faith. That is faith pared down to its purest form. The words “I need help” are an admission that all self-help programs, all formulas, and all human logic have finally run dry. And strangely, that is the very place where real help begins.
We instinctively treat suffering as some strange intruder, as if a fiery trial meant something had gone uniquely wrong in our story. But Scripture does not speak of it that way. Suffering is the tool God uses to do what nothing else can. Depth of character, the kind that can later anchor another soul in a storm, is never produced on easy street. It is forged in the heat. Gold is purified in the fire, and our faith, which is more precious than gold, is refined the same way. God is described as a consuming fire, not to destroy us, but to burn away the dross that keeps us shallow and self-reliant. You are in that fire right now, and I know it hurts. It is not strange; it is sacred, painful work.
But while you are in the refining, Scripture tells us something else: God is a very present help in trouble. We do not just have a God who watches from a distance. He is the faithful Creator who enters the furnace with us. The same Jesus who learned obedience through what He suffered is the One who intercedes for you now. He did not pray that Peter would escape the sifting. He prayed that Peter's faith would not fail, and that through his failure and restoration, he would be able to strengthen others. God will use this, not just in spite of the pain, but through it. The comfort you are receiving from Him right now in the darkness is a firsthand education. It is preparing you to sit beside someone else someday who is where you are, and offer them more than platitudes.
Look at the difference between two cries in Scripture. The first is, “How can I change? How can I do better?” That is the voice of a person still looking for a new technique, a fresh self-help manual, a way to fix the external problems. The second is, “Who shall deliver me?” That is the end of self-reliance. That is the cry of a man who has tried and failed, and now knows that only outside help will do. Your request sounds like the second one. That is a gift. When Peter saw the suffering ahead for Christ, he said, “Spare yourself. This shall not happen to you.” That is the philosophy of the world, the easy path, and Jesus called it what it was: the voice of the adversary. The way that leads to life is narrow and hard, but He walks it with us.
So I do not have any magic words for you. I have no easy answers. Like David, we cry out, “Give us help from trouble, for vain is the help of man.” Human advice, even well-meaning pastoral counsel, often falls short. We can point you to the One who does not. When I was in a moment of desperation with a loved one suffering, I had no words left but, “God, I need help.” I opened a Bible and it fell to Isaiah 35, a chapter about a desert blooming and the feeble hands being strengthened. It was God’s direct word for that moment. He will speak to you. Take your Bible and cry out to Him. Measure your thoughts against His Word, and if He speaks a promise, hold Him to it.
Pray with me now: Lord, we get our eyes off our circumstances, off our disappointments, and off ourselves. We look to You. You have allowed this, and we commit this long season of pain into Your faithful hands. We do not need to understand why. We need the strength to endure, and the grace to see the eternal weight of glory being prepared. Help us, O God, to go forth against this despair in Your name. When we fail, catch us. When we grieve, hold us. Be our help, for we are poor and needy, and there is no other helper but You. Let us learn the deep lessons You have for us in this fire. In the name of the One who was made perfect through suffering, Jesus Christ. Amen.
