We lift our hearts in deep compassion and intercession for the people of Colombia, who are enduring the devastating aftermath of this earthquake. Our hearts ache as we consider the immense suffering, lost homes, grieving families, those hospitalized, and the desperate need for food, medical supplies, and stability. In moments like these, we turn to the Lord, who is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We cry out to Him, knowing that He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. We ask for Your mercy to blanket Colombia in this hour of despair. Lord, stretch forth Your hand to heal the injured, comfort the mourning, and provide for every need. You are the God who sees the affliction of Your people (Exodus 3:7), and we trust that You will move in power to restore what has been broken. We pray for shelter for the homeless, strength for the weary, and peace for those who have lost loved ones. Let Your presence be a tangible comfort to them, reminding them that You are their ever-present help.
We also pray for the families who have lost their providers, Lord. You are the God who provides for the widow and the orphan (James 1:27), and we ask that You would raise up provision in miraculous ways. Open the hearts of those who can help, governments, organizations, and individuals, to respond with generosity and urgency. Let Your love flow through them to meet every need, whether it be food, medical care, or rebuilding homes.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that seeks to take root in the hearts of those affected. We declare that You are the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), and we ask that You would fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and remind them that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28), even in the midst of this tragedy.
We also pray for the churches and believers in Colombia. Equip them to be Your hands and feet, showing Christ’s love in practical ways. Let them be a light in the darkness, pointing others to the hope found only in Jesus. May this tragedy draw many to You, Lord, as they seek answers and comfort in their time of need.
Father, we know that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You (John 14:6), and it is only by His blood that we are saved (Ephesians 1:7). We pray that the people of Colombia would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, finding eternal hope in Him. For those who already know You, deepen their trust in You, and use this trial to refine their faith like gold (1 Peter 1:7).
We stand on Your promises, Lord, and we declare that You will restore what has been lost. We trust in Your unfailing love and Your power to bring beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3). In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
