Disciple of Prayer
Hi everyone , I need your help , I lost my husband over a year ago and my heart is broken šŸ’”, I don’t want to get out of bed as I have so many worries, first my arms I hurt on electric scooter and I’m worried infection might happen and scars , I’m praying to Jesus Christ that I don’t have scars and secondly 3 bottom teeth have been moved a bit from grinding them in my sleep having nightmares that I can’t get to my husband he will be in front of me then I can’t get to him 😢, and thirdly I have to move out of the house I’m in with my daughter, my husband passed away in the shower here and I really don’t want to leave as I feel like he will be on his own here , I’m hoping I can stay till end of the year cause I’m just so stressed that’s why I just wish it was me that passed away cause it’s just all to much and painful then have all these stresses and worries 😢

We have read your request and we are carrying your broken heart before the Lord with you in Jesus name. We grieve with you over the loss of your husband more than a year ago and we understand how heavy and painful this season feels, especially when so many worries are pressing on you at once.

The Lord sees your sorrow and your weariness and your desire to stay in bed under the weight of it all. He is near to you in this brokenness. Psalm 34:18 says The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We thank you for calling on the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father and find comfort and salvation. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

We are praying for your physical healing. We ask the Lord to protect your arms from infection and to bring complete healing after your fall from the electric scooter, whether He chooses to do so without scars or with scars that remind you of His sustaining grace. We encourage you to have your arms seen and cared for by a doctor promptly so infection can be prevented and proper care given, trusting that God often heals through the wisdom He gives to medical care. We also lift up your teeth and your sleep to Him. The grinding and the shifting of your teeth and the nightmares where you cannot reach your husband show how deep your stress and grief are held in your body. We pray for peaceful sleep and for relief from those tormenting dreams. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We encourage you to see a dentist about the grinding and to talk with your doctor or a trusted counselor or pastor about the nightmares and anxiety, and we pray God gives you practical help like a mouth guard and strategies for rest.

We also carry your burden about having to move from the house you share with your daughter, the house where your husband passed away in the shower. We understand why you do not want to leave and why you feel as though you would be leaving him alone there. We want to gently remind you from Scripture that your husband is not remaining in that house. For those who are in Christ, to be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord as taught in 2 Corinthians 5:8. If he trusted in Jesus, he is with Jesus now, not alone in a room, and nothing about you moving will leave him abandoned. Your love for him is precious and your memories will go with you wherever the Lord leads you. We pray for God's clear provision and peace about housing, and that if it is His will you may be able to stay until the end of the year, and if you must move sooner that He will provide a safe and peaceful new home for you and your daughter. Psalm 61:2 says When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Isaiah 41:10 says Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We heard your words that it feels like it would be easier if it had been you who passed away because it is all so much and so painful. We speak to that with great gentleness and love. Your life is precious to God and to your daughter and to those who love you. The Lord has purpose for you still, even in this valley. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. We rebuke the lie that your pain means you should not go on living, and we ask the Lord to lift the heaviness that keeps you in bed and to renew your strength day by day. Matthew 11:28 says Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Please do not carry these thoughts alone. We encourage you to reach out right away to your daughter, a pastor, a trusted Christian friend or counselor, or your doctor when those feelings come, and to let them walk with you closely in the days ahead.

We pray together now for you.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this dear sister to You. You know her broken heart and every worry she carries. We ask You to comfort her as only You can, to heal her arms and keep infection away, to restore her sleep and calm her nightmares, to protect her teeth and bring healing to her body. We ask You to give her Your peace that guards heart and mind, to provide clearly for her housing needs and to give wisdom to her and her daughter about the move, and to surround her with loving community so she is not alone. Lift her from the bed of despair and set her feet on Your rock, give her hope for each new morning and remind her daily that You are with her and that You hold her husband in Your presence if he knew You. Keep her life in Your hands and help her to cast every burden on You. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep calling on Jesus, to stay in His Word, to let others help you with practical needs, and to take one small step at a time as God gives strength. He is with you and He will not leave you. Psalm 42:11 says Why are you in despair, my soul Why are you disturbed within me Hope in God For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God.

We hear how heavy this year has been since your husband passed, and how much is pressing on you at once. Waking up feeling you cannot get out of bed, carrying grief, nightmares where you cannot reach him, and now facing a move from the home where you felt close to him, plus worries about your arms and your teeth, would overwhelm anyone. It makes sense you feel stretched thin and that leaving the house feels like leaving him alone.

For your arms and your teeth, we encourage you to have a clinician look at them soon alongside prayer, so you get care and peace of mind. A dentist can also talk with you about the grinding and nightmares. For the housing pressure, it may help to talk through options with your daughter and one other trusted person, like a pastor or counselor, to see what might allow you to stay through the end of the year or make a next step less abrupt.

You are carrying deep love and deep sorrow together. Grief does not mean you are failing.

Father, we lift this sister to You in Jesus name. Hold her when the nightmares come and when mornings feel too heavy. Give her comfort, steady help for each worry, and people nearby who will walk with her day by day. Amen.

Your sorrow has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord with much tenderness and prayer. To lose a beloved husband and to carry that brokenness more than a year after, to feel unable to rise from bed under the weight of many cares, is a deep affliction, and the Lord knows the weight of it. He is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit, and He has shown Himself in Scripture to be a defender of widows and a Father to those who mourn.

We do not take lightly the words you shared about wishing it had been you who passed away. That pain tells us how heavy your grief remains. Please hear that your life is precious in the sight of God and precious also to your daughter and to those who love you. The Lord still has purpose for you here, and He invites you to cast all your care upon Him for He careth for you. If these thoughts grow darker, we urge you in love to reach at once to a trusted pastor, to your family, to your doctor or to a faithful Christian friend and let them walk closely with you in these days. You need not bear this alone, and seeking help is not a lack of faith but a wise and needful step.

You have told us of the injury to your arms from the electric scooter and your fear of infection and scarring, and that you are praying to Jesus Christ about it. That is right and good to do. Our Lord hears even brief, silent prayer offered in distress, as He heard Nehemiah, and He hears the importunate cry of those who keep coming to Him. We are praying with you for healing, that the Lord would guard you from infection and grant full recovery, and we encourage you also to have your arms cared for by a doctor or nurse who can clean and watch the wounds well. Whether scars remain or fade, know that your worth before God is not in unblemished skin but in being His dear child, loved and redeemed through Christ.

The grinding of your teeth in sleep and the moving of your bottom teeth, with nightmares in which you cannot reach your husband, speak of how deeply your body and mind are carrying this grief. Sorrow often troubles our sleep. We are praying that Christ, who gives rest to the weary and heavy laden, would quiet your nights and relieve this distress. It would be wise to see a dentist about the teeth that have shifted and to speak with your doctor about the nightmares and grinding, for the Lord often helps us through the skill of others. Bring those nights to Him in prayer, asking for His peace to guard your heart and mind.

The burden of having to move from the house where your husband passed away in the shower, and the fear that he would be left alone there, is very understandable. A home holds memory, and to leave it can feel like leaving him. Yet if your husband trusted in Jesus Christ, he is not alone in those walls. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord for those who are in Christ, and no house can hold him. He is, if in Christ, far better than any earthly home can offer, kept safely in the presence of the Saviour. Your love for him is honoured by remembering him well, but you are not keeping him company by remaining. We pray the Lord will provide clearly for you and your daughter in this matter of housing, and that if it be His will you may remain until the end of the year, or that He will open a place of peace and safety if you must go sooner. Seek counsel and help in these practical arrangements so the load is not yours alone.

We are praying for you now, that the God of all comfort who sustained the widow of Sarepta in her poverty and who hears the cry of every widow who looks to Him, would sustain you. May He lift you up out of this mist and set you in the sunlight of His presence, heal your body, calm your sleep, provide for your home, and most of all draw you nearer to Jesus Christ, in whom alone is salvation and true and lasting hope. Cast your burdens upon Him each morning, even when you have no strength to rise, and ask Him for daily grace to take the next step.

We will continue to pray for you. Please keep letting your church family and those nearest to you know how you are, and keep looking to Christ who has promised never to leave nor forsake His own.
