We hear your cry for breakthrough and we join with you before the throne of grace in Jesus name, lifting up your middle daughter, your youngest, and your own hurting heart.
We pray first for your middle daughter. We ask for the Lord's 24 hour protection over her, for a hedge of angels around her wherever she goes, whether at home, in an Uber, or at work. We pray for her safety from her stalking ex fiance and we ask God to stop his harassment and bring him to repentance or to justice. No stalking, no threat, no weapon formed against her will prosper, for Isaiah 54:17 reminds us that no weapon that is formed against you will prevail. We pray Psalm 91:1-2 over her, that she who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, and that the Lord will be her refuge and fortress. We pray Psalm 91:11 that He will give His angels charge over her to keep her in all her ways, and 2 Thessalonians 3:3 that the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
We also address your fear about black magic, car trouble and illness. We want to gently remind you that for the child of God, there is no power greater than Jesus. The enemy uses fear to torment, but Scripture says greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world in 1 John 4:4, and that we are to submit ourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you in James 4:7. The practices of sorcery and curses are forbidden by God in Deuteronomy 18:10-12 and they have no authority over those who belong to Christ. If illness and breakdowns have come, we pray for healing and restoration, and we pray that any fear be replaced with perfect peace, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self control in 2 Timothy 1:7. We pray practically as well that you will help your daughter document every stalking incident, seek help from authorities if needed, from trusted church family, and take wise precautions about rides and her address, for wisdom and protection work together.
We lift up your youngest daughter as well, asking the Holy Spirit to go with her, keep her safe, and heal and strengthen both of your girls in body and spirit. We pray Psalm 34:7 that the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them.
For your own heart, we weep with you over the hurt caused by your boyfriend. What he said to you was cruel and does not reflect biblical love. A man who is pursuing a woman for marriage is called to love her as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her in Ephesians 5:25, and to not be bitter against her in Colossians 3:19. Love is patient and is kind, it does not dishonor others in 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, and it does not use cutting words. Ephesians 4:29 says let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. To call you fat and then say I did not leave you did I, and to flirt with others while you are in a courtship, is demeaning and unfaithful. It is not cherishing, and you are right to desire to be cherished, for you are fearfully and wonderfully made in Psalm 139:14 and your value is not determined by a number on a scale.
We want to speak lovingly about this relationship. In Scripture a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship is not casual dating but courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. Marriage is honored among all and the bed undefiled in Hebrews 13:4, and any sexual intimacy outside of that marriage covenant is fornication and the Scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18. If there is any sexual immorality in this relationship, we urge you to repent and to pursue purity. Even if there is not, we encourage you to step back and ask whether this man is demonstrating the character of a godly husband who will honor, protect and remain faithful to you. Flirting with others and tearing you down with words is a serious warning sign. We encourage you to seek wise godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers about whether this courtship should continue toward marriage or whether the Lord is calling you to be released from it for your protection and peace.
We also hear your pain in wanting him to know what it feels like to be alone. Your hurt is valid, and the Lord sees every tear, for He is near to those who have a broken heart in Psalm 34:18 and He heals the broken in heart in Psalm 147:3. Yet we must gently correct the desire for revenge, for vengeance belongs to the Lord. Romans 12:19 says do not avenge yourselves, but give place to God's wrath, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We are called to not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good in Romans 12:21 and to bless those who mistreat us. We pray God will work in his heart to convict him, and work in your heart to give you the grace to forgive and to set healthy biblical boundaries.
For your stress, eating, weight and need for calm, we pray that you will cast all your worries on Him, because He cares for you in 1 Peter 5:7, and that the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:6-7. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and we want to encourage you to steward it with grace, not shame. Stress eating is understandable, but we pray for strength to find comfort in the Lord rather than in food, for healthy habits, for rest, and for the knowledge that charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised in Proverbs 31:30. The Lord cherishes you no matter what you weigh, and He wants to give you calm even while you wait for breakthrough.
We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come to You only through the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved and have access to Your throne in Acts 4:12 and John 14:6. We lift this dear mother and her daughters to You. Cover the middle daughter with Your wings, keep her from the stalker, heal her body, restore what has been broken, and let no curse or fear have any hold on her. Cover the youngest daughter as well. Give this mother wisdom, comfort her broken heart, heal the wound caused by cruel words and unfaithfulness, and show her clearly what to do about this courtship. Bring conviction where needed and bring godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Give her Your peace that passes understanding, help her to rest in Your cherishing love, and give her strength day by day to steward her body in a healthy way, to eat with self control and to find calm in You. Let her know she is fully loved and valued by You. We ask for breakthrough, for protection, for healing and for restoration, and we trust You to act for Your glory. In the mighty and merciful name of Jesus we pray, amen.
