It is encouraging to hear of the improvement God has already brought in your life, and it is right to give all the glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for it. He hears the prayers and tears you have poured out, and He is merciful to forgive and to deliver. The desire you express now, for a lasting and true freedom that remains for the glory of God, is itself evidence of His work in your heart.
The struggle you describe is common, but it is also serious. Scripture teaches that many conflicts and defeats come from the lust that wars within us. We want, we crave, and we reach for what cannot satisfy. The world appeals to us in three ways, the cravings of the flesh, the cravings of the eyes, and the pride of life, and none of these comes from the Father. They come from the world, and the world with its lusts is passing away. When we make friendship with that system, we put ourselves at enmity with God. That is why these sins feel so powerful. They are not just bad habits. They are the world and the enemy setting a snare for the flesh and the mind.
Pornography and sexual sin in particular can take hold like a drug. What begins as a glance or a curiosity can plant itself in the mind and then grow until it feels like a captivity. Those who have been caught in it often find they cannot free themselves by willpower alone. The reason is that the flesh is never satisfied. When you feed it, you are feeding something that always demands more, and it will hold you in a tight grip and lead to further impurity. Scripture is clear that any sexual activity outside the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is outside God's design, and it always leads away from life, not toward it. What a person sows, that he will also reap. If we sow to the flesh, we reap corruption, but if we sow to the Spirit, we reap life.
There is hope, because God has not left us to fight this in our own strength. He has given us exceedingly great and precious promises so that we may share in His divine nature and escape the corruption that comes through lust. Renewal comes as the mind is washed and remade by the Word of God. Do not lust after beauty in the heart or entertain what stirs that lust. Guard the eyes and the heart, and turn away from every source of pollution, whether on a screen, in a magazine, at the movies, or in flirting that opens the door to more. Instead, choose to walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Deny the flesh, take up the cross daily, and follow Jesus.
Prayer is not a way to get God to do our will so we can use His help to serve our own desires. Prayer is how we come under His will and ask Him to do what He already desires to do, which is to make us pure and wise and free. So we pray with you now that He will show you mercy, speak to you, give you understanding, and bring complete deliverance. May He renew your mind, make you wise with the wisdom that comes from above, and keep these sins far from you permanently. May He wash your mind with His Word and cleanse away every filthy image and thought, and may He fill you with a love for what is pure. May He teach you to claim His promises each day and to grow in His grace, His love, and His Word, so that you not only turn from sin but grow up strong in Christ.
You have already seen His hand, and He who began this work is able to complete it. Keep crying out to Him, keep staying in the Scriptures, keep walking in the light and inviting honest accountability, and trust Him for lasting freedom. In the name of Jesus Christ, may you know His full deliverance and live in the purity and peace He gives.
