We thank God with you for the mercy He has already shown and for the improvement you have seen, and we give all glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for it. It is a good sign that you grieve over sin and cry out for deliverance, for God looks to the one who is humble and trembles at His word, and He gives grace to those who turn from sin with a sincere heart.

We join you in prayer that God will complete the work He has begun in you and grant you lasting and true deliverance for His glory. We pray that He will have mercy on you, renew your mind, make you wise in His ways, and keep these sins far from you in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that He will teach you, give you understanding, and strengthen you to do whatever is needed to put these sins away from your life and your heart forever.

Scripture calls us to purity and to self control, and to be an example in word, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Sexual desire when indulged outside of God's design leads us away from Him, and the harlots who entered the kingdom did so not by remaining as they were but by believing, being cleansed and being converted. In the same way, God calls you not only to be forgiven but to be made new.

Therefore continue to fight this battle with practical wisdom. Learn virtue step by step as a child learns letters, first guarding one area and then the next. Turn away from pornography and from every image and path that feeds lust. Turn away from flirting and from careless intimacy with the opposite sex, for such things stir up desire that belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Guard your mouth as well, for filthy talk and foolish jesting are vehicles that carry lust forward. Replace them with what is pure and wholesome. Keep watch over your heart with prayer, with the Word of God, with fasting when possible, and with honest fellowship with faithful believers who will help you stay accountable.

Do not trust in your own strength and do not be lifted up, but walk humbly, confessing your need daily and asking for the Holy Spirit to fill you. When temptation comes, flee from it quickly and set your mind on Christ. When you fall, do not remain in despair, but confess at once and return to Him who is able to cleanse and restore.

We pray now: Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we thank You for Your mercy to our brother. We ask You to forgive his sins, to wash him clean, and to create in him a pure heart. Renew his mind according to Your Word, grant him wisdom to discern and to flee temptation, and give him strength to walk in continence, temperance and righteousness. Fill him with Your Spirit so that he may live above lust and pride and may be gentle and contrite before You. Keep him close to You, establish him in holiness, and let his life bring glory to You. Amen.
