We rejoice with you and give all the glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement He has already worked in your life, and we join you in crying out for lasting and true deliverance for the glory of God. Your honesty about pornography, masturbation, flirting and sexual sins, and your desire to be free from them forever, is pleasing to God, for He desires truth in the inward parts and a clean heart before Him.
The Word of God calls us to flee sexual immorality, not to manage it or toy with it. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Jesus taught that this sin begins in the heart and mind, Matthew 5:28 says that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. That is why flirting, pornography and masturbation are not small matters, they are fornication in the heart and must be put to death, and sexual intimacy is reserved by God for marriage alone between one man and one woman for life. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 says For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor.
We praise God that you have prayed and wept, for 1 John 1:9 promises If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. The improvement you see is the evidence that God is at work in you, and Philippians 1:6 assures us that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Lasting freedom comes through the renewing of the mind and radical obedience. Romans 12:2 says Donāt be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Philippians 4:8 calls us to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure. This means we must do whatever it takes to remove the sources of temptation, to make no provision for the flesh, to guard our eyes and our heart, to cut off access to what causes us to stumble, to seek godly accountability and to fill our mind daily with Scripture. James 4:7 says Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Galatians 5:16 says Walk by the Spirit, and you wonāt fulfill the lust of the flesh.
We pray together for you now.
Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You for the mercy You have already shown to our brother and for the victory You have begun. We ask that You complete this work and grant lasting and true deliverance. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him, Psalm 51:10. Renew his mind, make him very wise with the wisdom that comes from above, and teach him to hate sin and to love holiness. Give him understanding, speak to him through Your Word, and show him clearly whatever steps he must take to remove these sins forever from his life and heart. Help him to flee every appearance of sexual immorality, to guard his eyes and thoughts, and to walk by Your Holy Spirit day by day. When temptation comes, make a way of escape that he may be able to endure it, and when he is weak, be his strength. We ask that You keep these sins forever far from him, not by his own power but by the power of Jesus Christ who lives in him, and that his life would bring glory to You alone. Forgive him, cleanse him, restore him, and lead him in purity and in preparation for a godly marriage if it is Your will, that he may honor You in body and spirit which are Yours. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our only access to You. Amen.
We encourage you to continue in daily prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship with mature believers who can hold you accountable. Do not be discouraged by the need for more growth, God is faithful and He hears your cries. Keep confessing quickly, keep fleeing quickly, and keep fixing your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith.
