I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We rejoice with you and give all the glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement He has already worked in your life, for it is God who is at work in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure, Philippians 2:13, and we thank Him for hearing your prayers and your tears. He sees your crying and He draws near to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18, and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you, Philippians 1:6.

We also hear your burden that there is still need for more lasting and true deliverance, and we agree with you that these sins must be removed forever from your life and heart for the glory of God. We must speak plainly in love that pornography, masturbation, flirting with the opposite sex outside of godly courtship toward marriage, and all sexual sin are not small struggles but are sexual immorality that God calls us to flee and forsake. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, 1 Corinthians 6:18. Everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart, Matthew 5:28. For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4. These sins begin in the heart and mind and defile the whole person, and we cannot make provision for the flesh or entertain them even in small ways, Romans 13:14.

We encourage you to continue to do whatever it takes to cut off every source and occasion for these sins, just as Jesus taught, If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you, Matthew 5:29. This means guarding your eyes and making a covenant with them, Job 31:1, setting no worthless thing before your eyes, Psalm 101:3, removing access to pornography completely, avoiding flirtatious conversations and situations that stir lust, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5. True and lasting victory does not come by willpower alone but by being transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2, and by walking by the Spirit so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh, Galatians 5:16. We encourage you to hide His word in your heart that you might not sin against Him, Psalm 119:11, to walk in daily fellowship and accountability with mature believers, to confess quickly when tempted and receive His cleansing, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9, and to resist the devil and draw near to God, James 4:7-8. If God has placed marriage on your heart, we pray you will pursue it in the Lord's timing through godly courtship with a fellow believer with marriage as the goal, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion, 1 Corinthians 7:9, rather than seeking relief through impurity.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You for Your mercy and for the improvement You have already granted to our dear brother. We ask You to show him Your mercy anew, to speak to him, to give him understanding and complete deliverance. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him, Psalm 51:10. Renew his mind and make him very wise in Your ways, so that these sins will forever be far from him. Teach him to do whatever it takes to remove every snare and to walk in purity, to flee where he must flee and to stand firm where he must stand. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, empower him to take every thought captive to Christ, and guard his heart and eyes. Lead him not into temptation but deliver him from the evil one, Matthew 6:13, and establish his steps in holiness that his life may bring You glory. We ask that You will guide him daily in Your word and keep him in Your perfect peace as his mind stays on You, Isaiah 26:3. We trust Your promise that You will not allow him to be tempted above what he is able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that he may be able to endure it, 1 Corinthians 10:13. We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, who alone is our righteousness and our deliverance. Amen.

We rejoice with you over the improvement you have seen, and we give thanks with you to the Lord Jesus for it. To have prayed and cried as you have and to see Him answering is a real mercy, and we understand why you long for that freedom to be lasting and deep in your heart.

Wanting these struggles to be far from you for good is a good and honest desire. We have found that lasting change rarely comes from white-knuckling alone, but from walking in the light with others while God renews the mind over time. Isolation keeps temptation strong, while steady, honest fellowship helps keep us grounded when old patterns try to return.

One step that has helped many in this same battle is to invite one trusted, same-sex believer into regular, consistent accountability - a pastor, counselor, or mature friend who knows your story and who you can be fully honest with week by week. It helps to agree together on practical guards too, like removing easy access to pornography and noticing the moments when flirting or fantasy begin to surface, so you can turn quickly and reach out instead of hiding.

Father, we thank You for the work You have already begun in our brother. Have mercy and continue to renew his mind, give him wisdom to walk in purity, and strengthen him to turn from what grieves You. Lead him to the right support and keep him close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

We rejoice with you and give all glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for the improvement He has already wrought in you, and we join our prayers with your cries that He would perfect that good work unto lasting and true holiness for His own glory.

Your prayer is right and needful, for purity and charity are the two great garments of Christianity, and without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death, for when lust has conceived it brings forth sin and sin when it is finished brings forth death. You have tasted that the way of lust is a poison so terrible that it makes the very bones to rot, and you have now tasted also that deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ, we must also expect to receive sanctification from a heavenly source.

Be encouraged that this deliverance is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He becomes possessed of a higher nature which was born in him by regeneration and which lifts him up into familiarity with God, so that he becomes a partaker of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, so that it is a gift of Divine Love. The clock of mercy strikes in heaven the hour and moment of deliverance, for the eternal purpose of Jehovah has decreed it, and when God Himself proclaims, I have found a ransom, then deliverance is certain, indeed it is already accomplished in Christ.

Therefore we look to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things. To the worldling Christ is one who lived long ago and died, but to us He is alive, He is our familiar Friend. When a child of God in deep distress believes in his Father and steadily looks to Him for deliverance, those eyes have mighty power. He will not share the honor of your deliverance with another, but He will make it effectual and in every deed He will bring you forth. And our deliverance is attended with enrichment, for He brings forth His people also with silver and gold, with wisdom and renewal of mind.

So we pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, that the Lord will show you mercy, speak to you, give you understanding and deliverance, and work in you to will and to do of His good pleasure. We pray that He will guide you to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from your life and heart, that He will renew your mind and make you very wise, so that pornography, masturbation, flirting and all sexual sin will forever be far from you. We pray that He will keep you unspotted from the world, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God, and that you may walk in that higher nature which abhors the former lusts.

You have cried a lot, and you may have feared that God's ear was shut and He would never move His arm to work deliverance for you. Yet He hears the cry of those who seek Him. Rest your soul upon Him and God will yet come to your deliverance. And when He has delivered you, live to declare the works of the Lord. If we had no troubles we would have less to declare, but the believer after affliction and after deliverance says, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. May the Lord grant you that joyful song of deliverance, that you may praise Him in Zion with a pure heart and a clean life, kept by His grace until the end.

We give thanks to God with you for the improvement He has already worked in your life, and we give all glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for it. To see that you have turned from pornography, masturbation, flirting and other sexual sins and desire to be cleansed more fully is itself a sign of His mercy at work in you. God hears the one who is contrite in heart and trembles at His word, and He does not despise tears poured out in prayer.

Your prayer for lasting and true deliverance, for a renewed mind and for wisdom to stay far from these sins, is right and good, and we join you in it. The Scriptures teach that sexual sin is not a small matter, but Christ came to make angels of men, not to leave us as creatures driven by lust. Those who once lived in such sins entered the kingdom not by continuing in them, but by being washed, purified and converted through faith and repentance. That is the path you are now walking.

Lasting freedom comes not all at once in a single moment, but step by step as virtue is written upon the soul. Learn as a child learns letters, one row at a time. First keep guard over your speech and your eyes, then over envy and lust, then press on to continence, temperance, righteousness and gentleness of mind, joining one virtue to another until they become a living pattern in you. In this way you become an example in purity, in word and in conduct.

Part of this guard is to cut off the vehicles that carry lust into the heart. Filthy talk and crude joking feed the fire, just as shouting and bitterness feed anger. If you remove what stirs desire, you starve the desire itself. Therefore turn away from images, conversations, places and relationships that awaken temptation, and fill your mind instead with what is pure. Be diligent in reading Scripture, in steady prayer, in fasting as you are able, and in honest fellowship with mature believers who can help you stay accountable. Do not trust in your own strength, but keep close to Christ.

Let us pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the work You have begun in this Your child and for the desire for holiness You have placed in his heart. Have mercy upon him according to Your great love. Renew his mind by Your Spirit and by Your word, grant him true understanding and heavenly wisdom, and deliver him fully from every chain of sexual sin. Teach him to do whatever is needed to put these sins far from his life and heart, not for a moment only but forever. Make him steadfast in purity and self control, and keep him close to Jesus Christ, in whose name alone is salvation. Fill him with strength to flee temptation and with joy in walking in Your ways, so that his life may bring glory to You. Amen.

Continue to pray and to cry out to God, and continue to walk in the practical steps of purity day by day. God is faithful, and He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it as you abide in Christ.
