I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We rejoice with you in the progress the Lord has already brought into your life, breaking the chains of pornography, masturbation, and sexual sin. The tears you have shed in prayer are precious to God, and He has heard every one of them. Your heart’s cry for lasting deliverance and a renewed mind is exactly where the Holy Spirit works most powerfully. We stand with you, believing that the same God who began this good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).

The sins you mention, pornography, masturbation, and flirting outside the bounds of godly marriage, are not merely personal struggles but offenses against God’s holy design for sexuality. The Bible is clear: "Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). These sins defile the temple of the Holy Spirit, but Christ’s blood is sufficient to cleanse and restore. Your desire to remove them forever is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s conviction, and we praise God for that work in you.

We must also address the heart behind these struggles. Lust, whether acted upon or entertained in the mind, is idolatry, it places desire above God’s commands. Jesus warned, "But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matthew 5:28). Flirting with the opposite sex outside the context of godly courtship (with marriage as the goal) can easily become a stumbling block, leading to emotional or physical impurity. The Bible calls us to purity in both action and thought: "Let no one despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12). True freedom comes not from managing sin but from starving it through the power of the Holy Spirit and filling your mind with what is true, noble, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).

You are right to seek God’s mercy, wisdom, and deliverance. The Lord does not merely want to modify your behavior; He wants to transform your heart. "Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10). This transformation requires surrender, laying every thought, desire, and habit at the feet of Jesus. It also requires accountability. Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance." Seek out godly, mature believers who can walk with you, pray with you, and hold you accountable in love. Do not isolate yourself in this battle.

We also encourage you to replace the time and energy spent on these sins with godly disciplines. Fill your mind with Scripture, memorizing verses that combat temptation (e.g., Psalm 119:9-11, 2 Timothy 2:22). Spend time in worship, prayer, and service to others. The enemy will seek to lure you back into old patterns, but "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). The "way of escape" may be turning off your device, leaving a tempting situation, or calling a trusted friend, but it is always there because God is faithful.

Let us pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who died to break the power of sin and rose again to give us new life. Lord, we thank You for the work You have already done in this dear brother’s life. You have heard his cries, collected his tears, and begun a work of deliverance. We ask now that You complete what You have started. Father, we rebuke the spirit of lust, pornography, and sexual immorality in Jesus’ name. We declare that these sins have no place in Your temple, and we command them to leave and never return.

Lord, renew this brother’s mind by the washing of Your Word. Replace every impure thought with the truth of Scripture. Give him wisdom to recognize temptation before it takes root and the strength to flee from it. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in purity, not just outwardly but in his heart and mind. Father, we ask that You surround him with godly accountability, men who will sharpen him, pray for him, and walk with him in this journey.

We pray for Your mercy to cover every past failure and for Your grace to empower him for every future victory. Speak to him, Lord, in the quiet moments and in the midst of battle. Let him hear Your voice clearly, guiding him into all truth. We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37), and that no weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Father, we also ask that You prepare him for godly marriage, if that is Your will. Let him grow in purity and maturity so that he may one day be a husband who loves his wife as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). Until then, let him honor You with his body and his heart.

We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. We trust that You will finish the work You have begun. May this brother’s life bring glory to Your name, and may he walk in the freedom that is his in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ powerful name we pray, Amen.

Do not grow weary in this fight, for the victory is already won. Every step you take toward holiness is a step toward the abundant life Jesus promised. Keep crying out to Him, keep filling your mind with His Word, and keep surrounding yourself with godly influences. A step like that can feel vulnerable, but it’s one of the most powerful ways God shines light into the places that have felt hidden. Is there a brother in Christ you could reach out to this week?

Keep bringing your heart to the Lord, just as you have been. He is not put off by your struggle; He meets you in it.

Lord Jesus, thank You for the freedom You’ve already given this dear man. You see his tears, and You honor his longing for holiness. Continue renewing his mind and making him wise. Strip away every hidden root that keeps these sins near, and give him the courage to walk openly with others who can strengthen him. Let him know deep in his heart that he stands fully forgiven and that Your power is more than enough for every step ahead. We trust You to complete what You have begun. Amen.

You have cried out from the depths, and the Lord has heard your groaning. The improvement you see, give him all the glory, for it is his hand alone that has stayed the plague. But you must not mistake a lull in the battle for the full victory. The sin that still crouches at the door is a deadly foe, and if you let it linger, it will conceive and bring forth death. Keep yourself unspotted from these puddles of the world; there is no pretending that you can wallow in them and yet belong to Christ.

This deliverance you seek is not the work of a moment. It is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. You have cried for mercy, that is well, for mercy is the fountainhead. Yet know this: deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from its guilt. Where you look for justification, there must you also look for sanctification. Fix your eyes upon the cross, where the ransom was found. When a soul sees that Christ, by his blood, made atonement and throws himself upon that sacrifice, then sin is pardoned; and because the sin is pardoned, the forgiven sinner grows grateful and says, “I will not go on in this sin.” That gratitude becomes a holy weapon.

But you need renewing day by day. After any sin, especially such sins as have grieved the Holy Spirit, it is incumbent upon you to seek a fresh impartation of grace. You feel you need it, that very sense of need is a mercy. If you were given over to sin without pangs of conscience, that would be the mark of death. Your tears, your cries, are the chastisements of a loving Father, curing you of the wrong by making you feel that your sin brings sorrow. He does not punish you as a judge; he corrects you as a son.

Submit yourself, then, to the mighty One who first broke your chains. Unless a supernatural power is put forth, any form of deliverance will be worthless. Pray that he would renew your mind and make you wise, wise to flee temptation, wise to take whatever drastic measures are needed to cut off the occasion of sin. It may be you must pluck out an eye or cut off a hand, in the figure of our Lord. Use your wealth, your time, your eyes, for God, but mind that they do not spot you. There is a rust about these things that can eat into the soul like a canker.

Do not think your labour is in vain because you have not yet attained. Faith speaks confidently, “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” He who has begun a good work will complete it. Come, then, regularly to the place where he reveals himself afresh, at his table, in his word, in secret prayer. The breaking of bread never loses its freshness to the believing heart. There you recount the righteous vengeance that fell upon the Substitute, and there you find that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin.

I will pray with you, that God would show you mercy, speak peace to your soul, and give you a lasting and true deliverance for his own glory. But look not chiefly to the improvement, look to the Improver. Rest not in the cessation of outward acts, but in the inward work of the Spirit. Go, and sin no more, for you have been bought with a price. Grieve not the Holy Dove. The Lord has found a ransom; he will bring you forth with silver and gold. Trust him, and he will make your deliverance effectual in every deed.

The great improvement you have seen is indeed cause for giving all glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. When the chains begin to loosen and the darkness recedes, we must not grow slack in thanksgiving, for it is He who has begun this good work. Yet you are right to seek more, for the enemy does not easily release his captives. The soul that has tasted the fleeting sweetness of those sins must now learn to hate what once it loved, and this is a deeper healing.

Do not think that merely ceasing the outward acts is enough; that is like cutting off the tops of weeds while leaving the roots alive. The renewal must happen “in the spirit of your mind,” where the filth first takes hold. Whosoever truly has the Spirit will perform no old deed, for the Spirit cannot endure old deeds. Beg God, then, not only to block your hands or your eyes, but to refashion your very thoughts, to make you an eunuch in soul, one who stands clear-minded, active, and full of holy freedom, yet far from softness and dissolute wandering. Such a one the King will keep near.

Consider the nature of that pleasure which dragged you down. It is a sick man’s craving: a momentary sweetness followed by lasting shame, a distemper of the mind that darkens the soul and casts you out of God’s service, making you a slave to lifeless passion. Esau sold his birthright for a single meal and found afterward no place of repentance, though he sought it with tears. How much better then to endure the temporary pain of denial than to harvest perpetual sorrow! Embrace moderation, vigils, prayer, and the restraint which nature itself teaches, for God has stinted us by our very frame that we might not be drowned in excess. So shall you gain health, freedom, and a clear eye to behold God.

Yet do not sink into despair when the struggle persists. God did not promise to remove every thorn at once, but rather to give power to despise the sting. The same Lord who permitted His apostles to face dangers and death gave them something greater: a contempt of death. So also He grants you not an easy, untroubled field, but the strength to trample upon temptation until it lies dead underfoot. The old man must be put to death, and dying is painful; but from that death springs life immortal. You have been set free by another’s blood, Christ’s own ransom. Why would you run back to the tyrant’s house? Stand fast, therefore, and do not waver.

See the double gift: not only does He forgive the sin, but He makes you a servant of righteousness, which is far better than any freedom. He lifts you from the mire, sets a kind Father over you, and leads you to the life of angels. This great dignity is yours if you hold firm. Where you now cry out in weakness, He supplies the firmness. So cry out still, but cry with hope, for He delights in your salvation, not because He needs your service, but because He thirsts for your healing. Every tear you shed in this battle is precious to Him.

Be sober, then, and not impatient. Many are afflicted around you with griefs of all kinds; you are not alone in the furnace. The fear of the Lord which now pricks your conscience is a mercy meant to lead you to fruitfulness, not to cast you into despair. A tree that begins to bear good fruit is delivered from the axe. This very pain you feel is the sign that the sap of grace is stirring. Therefore, pray without ceasing, watch, and fill your mind with hymns, Scripture, and the remembrance of judgment and the kingdom. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet, and what is now a battle will become a trophy to His glory.

Praise God for the real improvement you have seen. He is answering your tears and your cries, and it is right to give all glory to Jesus Christ for every step forward. The very fact that you grieve over these sins and long to be free is evidence that the Spirit is at work in you, because the mind set on the flesh does not cry out for deliverance like this.

The struggle you describe is the battle Paul laid out so clearly: the law shows us that lust itself is sin, not just the outward act. Long before a look becomes a physical fall, the coveting that stirs within the heart has already missed the mark. That is why you can experience real victory over behavior and still feel the war raging in your thoughts and desires. You are not alone in this, and you are not condemned. For those who are in Christ Jesus, the verdict has already been spoken: no condemnation. With your mind and heart you serve the law of God, even while the flesh pulls in another direction. That is the cry of every believer until the body of this death is finally left behind.

So do not let the presence of the battle convince you that you are still a slave. The promise stands: sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. The old man was crucified with Christ so that the body of sin might be put out of business, that you should no longer serve sin. A dead man does not respond to temptation. That is your position now. Reckon it to be true. Yield your body no longer as an instrument of unrighteousness, but yield yourself to God as one alive from the dead.

The battlefield is the mind. Whatever crud gets planted there through pornography or lustful fantasies stays with you and must be starved out by a greater power. The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. So feed your mind on what is of the Spirit: the living Word, prayer that is honest and raw, and whatever is pure. When those foul images rise up, treat them as an enemy and immediately turn your inner eyes to Christ. You do not have to entertain them or argue with them. You reckon yourself dead to them and alive to God.

Remember what lust never tells you: it never satisfies. Pornography only creates a hunger that demands more and more depraved fuel to produce the same thrill. It is the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes, and the whole system is passing away. The world’s beauty, used to draw you into sin, is a fleeting vapor that leaves only shame. But the will of God abides forever. Keep your heart with all diligence, putting away perverse influences far from you.

God’s glory is to cover sin, not to expose and shame you forever. When you confess and turn from it, He is faithful to forgive and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Through Jesus Christ, your sin is not merely covered for a season as with the old sacrifices; it is put away entirely. So come boldly to the throne of grace. Cry out for mercy, for renewed understanding, and for deliverance. He will give it.

Let me pray with you in that confidence:

Father, we thank You that You do not despise a broken and contrite heart. For all the ground gained, we give You glory. Now work deeper still. Renew this mind by Your Spirit. Make the inward man so captivated by Christ that the passing pleasures of sin lose their pull. Grant true and lasting deliverance. Show mercy, speak peace, and lead every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Let no sin have dominion but let righteousness reign through Jesus our Lord. Amen.
