I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We rejoice with you in the progress the Lord Jesus Christ has already brought into your life! The fact that you have seen improvement and are crying out to God for lasting deliverance is evidence of His grace at work in you. The struggles you mention, pornography, masturbation, flirting with sinful intent, and other sexual sins, are serious, but they are not beyond the power of Christ to overcome. The Bible tells us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). This is a promise we stand on together with you.

We must also address the root of these struggles. Sexual sin, including pornography and masturbation, is not just a physical act but a matter of the heart. Jesus said, "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies" (Matthew 15:19). True victory will come not just by removing the behavior but by allowing God to transform your heart and mind. This is why we pray for renewal, wisdom, and deliverance, not just for outward change, but for inward purity.

Flirting with the opposite sex, when done with impure motives or outside the bounds of godly courtship, can also lead to temptation and sin. The Bible instructs us to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and to treat others with purity and honor, especially those of the opposite sex. If your interactions with others have been driven by lust or selfish desires, we encourage you to repent and seek accountability. God’s design for relationships is holy and pure, leading toward marriage between one man and one woman, as He intended from the beginning (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6).

We also want to encourage you to take practical steps to guard your heart and mind. This may include installing filters on your devices, avoiding triggers, seeking godly accountability with trusted believers, and filling your mind with Scripture. "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word" (Psalm 119:9). The Word of God is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105), and it is essential in your fight against sin.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, giving You all the glory for the work You have already done in this dear one’s life. Lord, we thank You for drawing them to Yourself, for breaking the chains of sin, and for the progress they have made. But Father, we know the battle is not yet over, and we ask for Your continued mercy and deliverance. Renew their mind, Lord, and transform their heart by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Fill them with Your wisdom and understanding so that they may walk in purity and holiness.

Father, we ask that You would break every chain of pornography, masturbation, and sexual sin in their life. Remove every impure thought, every ungodly desire, and every temptation that seeks to ensnare them. Give them the strength to flee from sexual immorality and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace (2 Timothy 2:22). Surround them with godly accountability and wise counsel so that they are not left to fight this battle alone.

Lord, we also pray for their relationships with others. If there has been flirting or interactions driven by lust, we ask that You would convict their heart and lead them to repentance. Help them to treat others with purity and honor, as brothers and sisters in Christ, and to pursue relationships that honor You. If it is Your will, prepare them for a godly spouse who loves You and seeks to walk in Your ways.

Father, we ask that You would speak to them clearly and give them understanding. Open their eyes to see the traps of the enemy and give them the discernment to avoid them. Fill them with Your peace and assurance that victory is possible through Christ, who strengthens them (Philippians 4:13). We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand in agreement with them for complete deliverance and freedom.

We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). We trust You to bring lasting change and to use their testimony for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord with all your heart. Spend time in His Word daily, for it is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Surround yourself with believers who will encourage you, hold you accountable, and pray with you. Remember, you are not alone in this battle, Christ is with you, and He has already won the victory on the cross. "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!" (1 Corinthians 15:57). Keep pressing forward, and do not grow weary, for your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).

We are so glad to hear of the improvement you’ve seen, thank God with you for every step of victory. Crying out to the Lord and earnestly desiring lasting purity touches His heart, and we trust He will complete the good work He has begun.

Sometimes we can expect one dramatic deliverance, yet many times God’s deep work in us unfolds day by day as we walk with Him. That’s not a lack of power, it’s the shape of sanctification, the Spirit gradually renewing our minds and redirecting our deepest desires. The very fact that you long to be free and are willing to do whatever it takes shows He’s already at work.

One concrete thing that makes a difference for so many is to invite a mature, same-gender friend to be an accountability partner, someone who will pray with you, ask the hard questions, and remind you of who you are in Christ when temptation feels overwhelming. You don’t have to fight this alone.

Lord Jesus, we thank You for the deliverance You’ve already brought and for the deeper freedom You’re working. Renew this mind completely. Give wisdom to recognize what feeds the struggle and courage to cut it off. Surround this one with faithful companions who speak truth and love. Let the tears and prayers that have been sown now spring up into a harvest of lasting purity, all for Your glory. In Your strong name, amen.

I read your cry, your tears, your wrestling, and I thank God for the improvement you have seen. That alone is mercy, let all the glory be to the Lord Jesus Christ, for He it is who has begun this good work. But do you feel still the dragging of old chains, the stealthy return of those thoughts that once held you fast? I know that aching sense, that dread of sin’s dominion. I have known the hour when sin, sin, SIN seemed to have outlawed me from my God, and I felt myself sinking into the pit. Yet even then, Infinite Mercy met me and saved me! A voice from the excellent Glory commanded, “Deliver him from going down to the pit,” and His strong hand tore off my evil habits, snapped my bands, and set me free.

Do not, then, imagine that this ongoing battle means you are not delivered. The Lord chastens, but He does not give us over to death. Chastisement is not punishment, it is the Father’s cure, a sharp lancet in the hand of love. He smites your sins in mercy, not in wrath. The clock of mercy struck in heaven the hour of your deliverance when first you looked to Christ, and it will strike again for every renewed victory. But remember, deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from its guilt. You must look to your heavenly Father altogether and alone. You can drive a better business at the mercy seat than in any wrestling of your own resolve. To enter into devotion is far more profitable than to debate with your lusts.

Sin hides from the mind what it ought to see. It engenders a second nature, hardening the conscience with every indulgence, making the next fall easier. Be not foolhardy; a little sin is a steppingstone to something worse. Cry out night and day, “Lord, keep me even from vain thoughts, and above all, from any act dishonoring to Your holy name!” Stand in awe of God and sin not. How can you do this great wickedness and sin against the Christ who died because of it? Sin never seems so black as when we see it put away by Jesus’ blood. Let that love kill the love of sin within you. The truly happy man is satisfied from within, for when sin is pardoned, a spring of Living Water quenches his thirst.

Take this sweet assurance to heart: “Sin shall not have dominion over you.” The Lord is able to keep you from falling. He will preserve you even to the end. Not by your own strength, but because the eternal purpose has decreed it. Do not pretend you can wallow in the mire, even secretly, and still belong to Christ, that cannot be! Keep yourself unspotted from the world’s puddles. Flee loose company. Let no favorite sin cry, “Let me lodge within you,” but answer, “It cannot be, for I love Jesus. Sin slew my Savior; I am on friendly terms with it no more.”

Now go to the mercy seat again, with tears if you will, but with faith. Plead the blood that cleanses from all sin. Ask Him to renew your mind, make you very wise, show you the understanding and deliverance that He alone can give. He who has delivered you from the archers of guilt will shield you from the archers of temptation. The Lord bless you, and make you as a brand plucked from the burning, a living witness that Jesus saves from sin, not in it. Cry mightily to God, and then sing the songs of deliverance, for He has not given you over to death, but has decreed your freedom. Amen.

You have wept and cried to the Lord, and He has shown you mercy by granting improvement over these shameful passions. Give thanks indeed for this, but do not imagine that tears alone, without a firm and lasting change of heart, can root out the sin entirely. For Esau also sought repentance with tears, but found no place for it, because his grief was not the grief that hates the sin and turns wholly from it, but only a sorrow for its consequences. True repentance, the kind that Peter showed when he went out and wept bitterly after his denial, brings forgiveness, because it is joined to a renewed mind and a will that now despises the evil.

Here, then, is your great need: not only to weep, but to wage war. You must put off that old man, the one that lusts and flirts and defiles the body, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. This renewal is the work of the Holy Spirit within you, transforming your very thoughts and desires. Do not say, "I am made this way," or "the impulse is too strong," for sin is not from nature or from necessity. It is a choice, and the apostles themselves, though Jews brought up under the same law, chose to follow Christ and received blessing. Your own judgment, under grace, can refuse the temptation.

At the same time, I charge you most solemnly: do not despair. The wicked spirit first invites to sin, and then, after the fall, whispers that there is no recovery. This is a far greater snare than the sin itself, for despair slams the door on repentance. Yet God is longsuffering for this very reason: that He may lead you to repentance. If He called you to account each day, you would have perished long ago. His delay is mercy, giving you space to hate the sin constantly until it is driven out.

Keep, then, no truce with your former lusts. Do not merely refrain from the outward act while the heart still turns back to the old filth. The renewal must reach down to the spirit of your mind, so that you put on the new man, which is created after God in righteousness and true holiness. Go forward, not merely seeking to be kept from the deed, but begging Christ, who took away the sin of the whole world, to take away the very love of these sins from your soul. Let your prayer be: "Lord, renew my mind; let the old man die within me daily, that I may live for You alone." And know this, that as Peter found mercy after a grievous fall, so will you, if your repentance is real and you do not turn back.

The honesty in your cry shows a heart that genuinely longs to honor God, and that longing itself is evidence of His Spirit at work within you. When Scripture says the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, it touches the very battle you are describing. Your mind, renewed to desire righteousness, wars against the pull of the flesh that still clings to old patterns. That struggle does not mean you are lost. It means you are alive in Christ, a man who knows the law of sin in his members but is no longer condemned because you are in Jesus.

The law of God did its good work when it exposed that sin goes deeper than outward acts. It is not only the physical act that defiles, but the lust itself, the look, the indulged fantasy. Knowing that can feel crushing, but it is actually a strange mercy. It drives you away from self-reliance and toward the only deliverance that lasts. You have tasted some improvement, and for that we give glory to the Lord. Do not despise that beginning, but press further into the truth that your old man was crucified with Christ so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless. A dead man does not respond to temptation. Reckon yourself truly dead to that old master and alive to God.

What you feed your mind will shape which nature controls you. The images, the flirtations, the wandering glances, these are not harmless. They are kindling for a fire that will demand more and more while offering less and less satisfaction. Pornography and lustful imagination work exactly like a trap. What starts as a seemingly private indulgence becomes a slave chain, always driving toward greater corruption. You are not wrestling against something small. You are dealing with a pattern that wars against your very soul, a pattern that the world dresses up as freedom but is really the deepest bondage. The child of God discovers that true freedom is not the liberty to indulge, but the glorious liberty of no longer needing to.

When the failure comes, do not run from God. Run to Him. David learned that though his sin affected others, the ultimate offense was against the Lord, and only the Lord could wash him. Your tears and your prayers for mercy are not falling on deaf ears. Jesus wore a crown of thorns as the emblem of the curse your sin deserved, so that you could hear the words, "Your sin is forgiven." That forgiveness brings relief to a plaguing conscience, and it also brings power to walk differently. Let the Word of God abide in you richly. When the serpent whispered to Jesus, He answered with "It is written." You have the same weapon. As you hide Scripture in your heart, the Spirit will bring it to your mind in the moment of temptation. The mind of the flesh leads to death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the issues of life. I join with you in praying that God will complete this work, renewing your mind day by day and giving you the wisdom to flee anything that would draw you back into the snare, all for the glory of Jesus Christ.
